  1. At the very least, it would have been nice to see Prinz make occasional visits (maybe during the holidays).
  2. Was Kate Collins ever nominated for playing Natalie and/or Janet on AMC?
  3. Of course. Unlike some other HWs, though, Douglas Marland was one who excelled at writing many different KINDS of storylines. You name it -- (murder) mysteries, action/adventure stories, Gothic (and other) romances, love triangles, topically relevant dramas and kitchen-sink family dramas -- and Marland wrote at least one great example from that genre. That's what I admire about him most. That, and the fact that he always respected history, and he never wrote down to his audience.
  4. Frankly, I don't think so. I suspect the writers crafted the child molestation story for Ceara, because they realized GF didn't have whatever it took to portray Ceara as the "scheming vixen" type she was introduced as. But I could be wrong. (That's not a knock on GF or her talents, by the way. It's just that she's more suited to portray heroines over villains). Either way, it felt after awhile that Ceara, and Ceara/Jeremy, had fallen through the cracks -- which might have been okay with Genie, who wasn't carrying the show on her shoulders like she had on GH, and who was allowed to pursue other endeavors (such as theatre) while living in NYC, but it certainly was a waste of actor and character.
  5. And that's probably true. It never mattered whether GF was right for Diana and for DAYS. They just wanted to get GF/GH/Luke & Laura fans to tune in. OTOH, AMC did a little better by her, giving her an actual character (Ceara Connor) with a real backstory and agenda for being in Pine Valley -- even if, IMO, GF wasn't entirely suited to portray Ceara as conceived.
  6. AMEN to that as well. Ironically, he wouldn't feel this overwhelming urge to save us from ourselves if he hadn't grandstanded mere days before the election by pouring MORE salt into Hillary's email wounds. To me, Comey's part of the reason why we're here, so I am uninterested in anything he has to say, thank you very much. IDK if it's that no one cares, or that the media has done such a fantastic job making mountains out of molehills (while diverting our attentions away from REAL issues) that we're simply burned out from the many, many, MANY scandals we've had to follow. But, then again, maybe this is all going precisely according to TrumpCo.'s plans: wear us all down with inane and trivial [!@#$%^&*], so that we're too weak to fight the battles (such as this one and the one @DramatistDreamer has posted) that REALLY count.
  7. White people believe we're supposed to be grateful with whatever crumbs they throw our way. It's appalling.
  8. I think Bill Bell LIKED the idea of large families on soaps, but often had a difficult time finding stories for all the siblings. Once he focused on one or two siblings in particular -- Brooke Logan, Ridge & Thorne Forrester, Chris & Lorie & Leslie Brooks, Paul & Patty Williams -- the others fell by the wayside. IMO, Y&R's Foster and Abbott clans were his most successful, because there were only three siblings in each (Snapper, Greg and Jill; and Jack, Ashley and Traci).
  9. GF has complained in the past how her DAYS character, Diana Colville, was...well, was never REALLY a character. She NEVER knew exactly who Diana was. This was true all the way to her final scenes, when Diana suddenly packed her bags and left town (with her hair dyed brown, no less), suggesting that "Diana Colville" might not have been her true identity after all! (Or so she claimed in an online interview with the Academy of American Television). Frankly, I think DAYS hired GF in much the same way that GH had hired Denise Alexander back in '73. In both situations, it was more about luring away a popular actor from a competing show (although GF hadn't been on GH in at least three years, she was still connected to the show in viewers' memories and hearts), and less about finding the best actor to play a particular, well-developed role.
  10. Same. For one thing, look at some of the players involved: Elizabeth Hubbard, Terry Lester, Mary Kay Adams, Joseph Breen, Richard Bekins. It was practically a long-time soap fan's wet dream, lol.
  11. AMEN.
  12. I've heard it said that ATWT deliberately went in another direction when re-casting Emily (with KMH), because they felt Melanie Smith came across as "too slutty." Which, if you ask me, is a direct insult to Smith.
  13. I love it, because it finally exposes what I've suspected and been saying all along: he Ain't. That. Rich.
  14. No, I don't think that's Marcia McCabe, but I DO think it's Anna Holbrook (ex-Sharlene, ANOTHER WORLD).
  15. God bless Meredith Baxter, but nothing topped the real Betty. ;)
  16. I just heard about that on the radio. (Yes, I still listen to the radio, lol). Apparently, it was a development no one was expecting, as the two had received seven-year jail sentences.
  17. Actually, I think he was, Amy. If there was any backlash against Jack and Jennifer's relationship, however, it was minimal. Believe it or not, I think DAYS did a good job (comparatively speaking, of course) of redeeming Jack after Kayla's rape.
  18. Well, it IS hilarious when you think about it, lol.
  19. I'm not sure, but from what I remember (from reading Lemay's book), Walter would pull out the scarf and sob into it whenever he was reminded of Wayne's murder.
  20. It's just too ridiculous how little this genre has progressed since those days. Especially when, according to all the research, more people are in favor of same-sex marriages than ever.
  21. But, it's okay, because he's white. (And Republican. But mostly because he's white.) I'll settle for someone holding him down and shaving off that ridiculous comb-over.
  22. Good for you!! I wish I could say my sexuality is genetic as well. AFAIK, however, no one else in my family (on either side) is gay.
  23. Wow, I'm so sorry for you, DaysFanatic and Amy, and the traumas you've had to face. God bless you both for surviving and feeling strong enough to share such personal, painful memories with us. #hugs
  24. Ken Corday did. That's why he rigged the SOD Awards every year. Allegedly.
