  1. The ONLY thing that I would ever ask Donna Bridges is to get things right! She’s constantly wrong (Frankie on AW appeared 2 years before Luna). “I was told” means nothing because you are wrong, mostly. There were no Jackers, Virginia Brown and Swajeski writing at the same time. Please post facts.
  2. Gotta give a huge OOPS to Donna and Neil. Frankie Frame appeared LONG before Luna on OLTL. So whoever told Donna, well. Consider the source.
  3. Brilliant cliffhanger today! Never saw that coming. Bravo Days and Ron Carlivati.
  4. Facts don't seem to matter with Donna.
  5. Ron Carlivati isn't going anywhere anytime soon other than to keep headwriting Days. Janet loves him and they get along well.
  6. I'm not feeling JP-L as Phillip at all. He's sleep walking through his scenes.
  7. I'm gonna blog about Maureen Garrett. I have audio where she says that her head never exploded over the Roger stuff and yes, she is available on social media.
  8. True, Maureen Garrett is a private person, but she is not invisible. And she is on some social media and is accessible. #facts
  9. To be very clear, Maureen Garrett has been asked about her head exploding recently and she denies that. Don't believe everything the blogger says. Maureen is very accessible on social media.
  10. @Errol Can you please remind Donna again not to derail this thread with her personal blogs. There is a wonderful thread called Guiding Light which would fit perfectly with her blog. Staying on topic, Ratings From the 80's, it really did take awhile for viewers to warm up to Doug Marland's ATWT. They had a spike here and there in early '86 but the ratings should have been better. The Doug Cummings story and its conclusion was brilliant. OLTL over taking AMC at this time; Days overtaking AMC. Santa Barbara's rise. Interesting time with the ratings.
  11. Ellen Wheeler, David Kreizman and Jill Lorie Hurst were the final nails in GL’s coffin. They pounded those nails in pretty hard.
  12. Easily the idiotic idea of Peapack! They should have just cancelled GL instead of making it suffer for another year and a half with Wheeler's inept production. It was embarrassing to the soap format to have characters just meet in a field and start talking. Worst idea EVER.
  13. Leo has been on the canvas for about 5 years now so their taping schedule is irrelevant. They've obviously read the feedback on the character during the last 5 years and continue to write for him. I'm glad Ron C. doesn't take your feelings into consideration. He takes my feelings into consideration and continues to write for Leo. Thumbs up from me.
  14. Santa Barbara was the first show to list their writers after the strike. The writers were listed by the end of August and in the credits, they said Welcome Back!!!! after the writers were listed.
  15. There aren't enough viewers to make this 'niche' audience profitable. It'll never happen. It's been tried and failed miserably.
  16. I LOVE Leo! He's very entertaining. Unpopular opinion on here but who cares! Obviously other viewers feel the same way or they wouldn't keep writing for Leo. Loved today's Leo centric episode. I wish they'd use Leo more often but given Days budget, I know they can only use characters so many times per week.
  17. I don't believe that Agnes had anything to do with OLTL in the mid 80's. Agnes working with Paul Rauch? Nah. Never happened.
  18. The Stephanie Braxton/Paul Avila Mayer headwriting team was a disaster for SFT. Everyone was miserable at the show. Nick Nicholson was not a good fit for SFT and ratings tanked during this time. Gotta love Paul Rauch. When he first came to OLTL after the awful Jean Arley era, ratings were low. In one of Rauch's first interviews after taking the helm he was asked how he felt about competing in the same timeslot as AW, which he produced for years. Paul said "I'm going to wipe them off the map." He did.
  19. OLTL: The Paul Rauch affect leading up to OLTL hitting #2 later that summer and Paul sending Erika Slezak a dozen roses thanking her while she was on vacation. Erika's Emmy winning scenes contributed to the rise to #2, but that's down the line.
  20. Thanks @vetsoapfan. Kinda proves that the self proclaimed soap "experts" have alot to learn.
  21. With appreciation and all due respect to Toups for posting the ratings, I don't believe that any decision maker at the networks look at only linear ratings anymore. It's a base that they build off that with Paramount+ (Y&R, B&B) and Hulu (GH) and on demand and live +7 all added into their numbers. We have no idea how many viewers these shows actually have.
  22. Thank Jason. Very much appreciated.
  23. I disagree that there was never a successful morning soap. Love of Life was at 11:30 for at least 10 years and was competitive in the ratings. It wasn't until CBS moved Love of Life to 4:00 that the ratings and clearances began to fall, leading to cancellation.
  24. @jason47 If you have time, I'm curious about the number of total viewers that Days had versus AMC when Days beat AMC in households from 5/7 - 5/11/84. Similarly, it would be great to see the total viewers that GL had versus GH for the 3 weeks that GL beat GH in households. (5/28-6/15/84). Thanks so much.
  25. The buildup to Guiding Light beating GH for 3 weeks in a row. OLTL sinking quickly with Jean Arley as a visionless EP.
