  1. I LOVE Leo! He's very entertaining. Unpopular opinion on here but who cares! Obviously other viewers feel the same way or they wouldn't keep writing for Leo. Loved today's Leo centric episode. I wish they'd use Leo more often but given Days budget, I know they can only use characters so many times per week.
  2. I don't believe that Agnes had anything to do with OLTL in the mid 80's. Agnes working with Paul Rauch? Nah. Never happened.
  3. The Stephanie Braxton/Paul Avila Mayer headwriting team was a disaster for SFT. Everyone was miserable at the show. Nick Nicholson was not a good fit for SFT and ratings tanked during this time. Gotta love Paul Rauch. When he first came to OLTL after the awful Jean Arley era, ratings were low. In one of Rauch's first interviews after taking the helm he was asked how he felt about competing in the same timeslot as AW, which he produced for years. Paul said "I'm going to wipe them off the map." He did.
  4. OLTL: The Paul Rauch affect leading up to OLTL hitting #2 later that summer and Paul sending Erika Slezak a dozen roses thanking her while she was on vacation. Erika's Emmy winning scenes contributed to the rise to #2, but that's down the line.
  5. Thanks @vetsoapfan. Kinda proves that the self proclaimed soap "experts" have alot to learn.
  6. With appreciation and all due respect to Toups for posting the ratings, I don't believe that any decision maker at the networks look at only linear ratings anymore. It's a base that they build off that with Paramount+ (Y&R, B&B) and Hulu (GH) and on demand and live +7 all added into their numbers. We have no idea how many viewers these shows actually have.
  7. Thank Jason. Very much appreciated.
  8. I disagree that there was never a successful morning soap. Love of Life was at 11:30 for at least 10 years and was competitive in the ratings. It wasn't until CBS moved Love of Life to 4:00 that the ratings and clearances began to fall, leading to cancellation.
  9. @jason47 If you have time, I'm curious about the number of total viewers that Days had versus AMC when Days beat AMC in households from 5/7 - 5/11/84. Similarly, it would be great to see the total viewers that GL had versus GH for the 3 weeks that GL beat GH in households. (5/28-6/15/84). Thanks so much.
  10. The buildup to Guiding Light beating GH for 3 weeks in a row. OLTL sinking quickly with Jean Arley as a visionless EP.
  11. I agree with Toups. It is silly to blame Liam week after week. Steffy and that god awful actor who plays Finn are on week after week. They annoy me to no end. I'll watch Scott Clifton and Liam anyday over Steffy, Finn and the over used and should be gone forever Sheila.
  12. Annabelle's picture mystery hitting #3 for GL! 11/7-11/11/83
  13. @slick jones Thanks SO much for the Arleen photos!! She was a gem. You couldn't get through a Calliope scene without laughing.
  14. Further down the line in 1984, at the end of Jean Arley's disastrous run at OLTL, the show had dropped to #8 and even Capitol was beating OLTL! ABC couldn't get Paul Rauch in there fast enough!
  15. Joanna Lee was killing it as SFT's EP during that period. Jean Arley was the Producer of OLTL at this time and the show sucked during her reign. She was not a right fit for OLTL.
  16. Just FYI, Jason already posted the numbers for Steve & Betsy's wedding. They are at the bottom of page 46 of this thread.
  17. I am of the opinion that Beverlee McKinsey would NOT want to get a posthumous Emmy Award. So, NO, I will not sign the petition.
  18. lol. NO she didn't.
  19. So many BAD decisions by the networks during the 82 era. The numbers reflect the bad decisions.
  20. Oh good Lord. IT is trying to get a FAKE Emmy for someone? The spam queen (YES, she spams) is outta control. If you didn't get an Emmy back then, you don't deserve one now. Denice Pence is great in that clip above relating to GL. Greg Beecroft was SO hot! I loved him so much on Guiding Light.
  21. I respect that Agnes was 93. I'll give her a pass that her memory may not have been great. But I don't give a pass to her editors who should have fact checked her book. The problem is that people will quote passages from her book and believe them because it was in her book. Agnes said so in her book so it's a fact. It happens all the time here that books and page numbers get quoted as facts, when they are not true. To stay on topic about GL, Christopher Schemering's 50th Anniversary book about GL had several wrong statements. Just because it's in a book doesn't mean it's true.
  22. Luke & Laura's wedding ratings!
  23. So Richard VanVleet (the worst Ed Bauer ever) thinks he was nominated for Emmys in his Locher Room interview. Fact check. Richard VanVleet was never nominated for an Emmy. But he thinks he was. It must be true because he said it.
  24. Just because someone writes a book and it gets published, it doesn't mean that everything in the book is true. Some people need to learn that. There are many soap opera books out there with incorrect information. Agnes Nixon's bio had many errors. Christopher Schemering's book had many errors, including the misconception that GL was #1 in the ratings in 1984. That will finally and once and for all proven untrue soon.
  25. What is the point of Days since it moved to Peacock? Boring storylines. 47 minutes today? Why? The Talia crap and those eyebrows! So annoying and distracting. And just NO to Talia and Chanel. Ugh. Ava and Harris were on about 20 minutes too long. What has happened to this show? There is literally nothing going on worth tuning into the next episode for.
