  1. I don't regret a thing about the PP soaps, beyond the higher-up administration debacle. I've watched what Erika has said about it, and she has often been both complimentary and critical; I've heard her be much harsher about, say, Linda Gottlieb. I agree with a lot of her complaints but I also think those shows, in their final form, were the future of the genre denied despite many, many BTS hiccups and obvious growing pains. It wasn't an issue at the in-show creative level, it was the administrative above them and I'll always stand by that.
  2. Eric would've soared as an elder Cassadine when Guza was still around. It would be a major coup. But I'd have no faith in the 21st century GH serving him well for very long; he's wise to stay where he is.
  3. Alternately, there isn't a need for a both sides approach on an issue where one obnoxious actor turned out to be an (alleged) sexual harasser who is now blacklisted from daytime.
  4. For better or worse, OLTL took huge risks with both the Marty gang rape story and the DID revisit of the 1990s and both, in their own ways, paid off tremendously. For good or ill they became singular achievements and forever redefined swaths of characters and parts of the canvas - people may despise Todd Manning, or find him a relic of the past now (as I do despite once finding him a favorite), but he was tremendously galvanizing and popular for the show. Later years, of course, took all the wrong lessons from both of these stories. OLTL should never have touched DID again, at least not with Viki's family. And Todd, don't get me started.
  5. That's what it must be if it was Marland, because Bobbie was on in late '77, I think.
  6. The Bobbie question came up recently in a thread, actually; we were all wondering if the Hollands(?) created her or Marland. Jackie has always maintained it was Marland I believe, but the dates are suspect. I can certainly believe he was writing there before he was credited though.
  7. For now I feel confident the Fox News poll is an outlier.
  8. Sinema's involvement is so brazen it's beyond belief. The only bright spot in the current chaos is that both she and Manchin have been thoroughly exposed - I am seeing key CNN, etc. reporters, not liberal people, openly gunning for them, all saying this is about these two personally and not the party's concerns but they are holding up everything in the party on behalf of themselves and no one else, with a surprising lack of equivocation or excuses. This is open corruption, egomania, or both, and it can't stand forever.
  9. Ratioed to 7K and counting:
  10. WTF?
  11. I'll never forget the pretentious THR critic who insisted Twin Peaks Season 3 would be irrelevant because we have Legion on FX. That aged well!
  12. The 'glitches' will be Locher manually cutting the feed in every fourth word out of Eileen's mouth.
  13. I think she was just way too pretty and overall femme and delicate for Billie, who I associated with being a bit butch, spunky and tough. Lisa Rinna was a fairly unique hire for soaps, and I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the recast. The character also became weak and whiny. The key issue was that they made Billie a disposable vixen/ingenue with Allen, she was just a plot widget. That being said, Krista has some ability and I think she'd do well on this kind of show as Taylor.
  14. I think it'd be beneath her at this point to join the Thorsten Kaye rung of random recasts on this shitshow, tbh. They'd be better off making a new role for her.
  15. I did not recognize James Carroll, who's much more attractive here than on the show - or maybe I just disliked Leo that much in the eps online. Woo, the '90s fashions!
  16. How about you leave my name out of your mouth when I never reported you once in all your long years, did you the courtesy of staying out of your latest "I'm leaving forever" thread that predictably lasted about 10 days, and even went out of my way to say that your relentless creep [!@#$%^&*] was the least of the forum's problems? Thanks. Best of luck with your next ten years.
  17. I know they retconned Meg into having had Scott with weird psychic spy D.V. Bordisso on PC (or as one poster on USENET, I believe, used to refer to the storyline, "just Scott going around hissing 'Bordisso!' for months"). I can't recall any specifics from anyone talking about Meg much back then though; I wish I could know where to look for PC material from the '90s discussing her troubled life at all.
  18. There's at least an episode or two of Susan in the second Irna Phillips era of the early '70s on YT.
  19. I don't get this new angle that "Nikolas neglected Spencer for his whole life" that some online folks seem to push. Uh, what? Nikolas raised Spencer both in Europe and Port Charles on and offscreen for the bulk of his life before his 'death' in 2015, including in the several IRL years TC was gone until his return in '13. Obviously what Nik pulled to get one over on Valentin after he fell into that ocean was despicable, but in the years before that Nik had been there for Spencer for almost his entire childhood and he was a constant and committed parent until the recast. I can totally buy the rift in recent years since Coloma took over, but I also watched the show. I am far from Nikolas' biggest fan in the last 15 years, but people get too sprung for this twunk or the teen couple and want to totally rewrite history. Nik can be wrong for what he did after he 'died' and Spencer can be wrong for this crazy stalker mess - it's not an either/or, and it was never as simple as "Nik never had time for Spencer" because that's just not true. That being said, Jesus, Coloma got way too thin.
  20. Not quite so classic, but still a very memorable moment - Tracy's return in 2003. It won't embed, so here. I will never forget this, as my exposure to Tracy had been minimal before the 21st century. I started watching in '93 right around the time she left, and I only had very vague memories of her from '96 and on The City as I was in school and could only fake sick so much. Tracy's reputation preceded her, but seeing her in the flesh Jane Elliot was an incredible shock of adrenaline to the show and the cast in a particularly moribund, Fab 4-obsessed period that year. She upended every scene she entered. IIRC her first return was a brief stint to bring on Scott Clifton's Dillon and de-Q Skye - a vindictive stiletto in the ribs from Guza to JFP's reign, which as an OLTL fan I deeply enjoyed; I hated Skye acting like she belonged there - but JE was so, so good that I thought they'd be insane to keep her gone for very long. And they didn't; she was back on contract within months. I remember her hysterically dissing each of the Qs in turn. Stuart Damon's reaction to Tracy cutting Alan down to size does not appear to be acting - he looks delighted.
  21. Lord, now we have obviously fake twitter spoiler accounts. One yearns for the days of Ivana Kipling.
  22. SF was too huge for them to drop (and London too boring to redo) but I have no desire to see Puck or Rachel again at this point.
  23. I lost it over this one. I caught NY late as a kid and loved it in reruns but LA was my first full-on season. No Dom or Aaron, I see.
  24. Yeah, recasting Jax serves no purpose. Bye, dude.
