  1. Yeah, I think we've discussed this before. Roger really should do it, but unfortunately Alan gets these bc of his connections, even though he was a PR flack for P&G in their final years and seems to have minimal investment in these shows or knowledge of them or their history beyond that era. I stopped watching most of these because watching him wing it on shows or periods where he has little knowledge or is trying to control people who can have real conversations and talk candidly is aggravating.
  2. On a lighter note:
  3. Meanwhile:
  4. Both Scott and Brooks were hot as hell in those days, but the fundie life eats away at people.
  5. There's also the fact that she and Megan McTavish became a package deal, bc Megan would facilitate for her at OLTL and GH. Before the network made her hire Megan, Jill was ghostwriting OLTL herself.
  6. Stupid. Fans embraced Cady and they should let it happen.
  7. JFP had very little power at GH once Guza returned, and that was by Guza's own deliberate design; he got himself a co-producer credit when he returned for a reason, so he could exert the creative control Wendy Riche had once had over him during their many battles. The only time I feel you could see Jill's influence at GH post-Guza's return was in certain low-key hires of her friends for small parts, some music stuff, and then when the strike hit and Guza was gone; suddenly there was a frontburner story for Rick Hearst and a dayplayer out of nowhere, like it was GL 1994. I think Jill Farren Phelps has her skills, but they're a very limited set. I don't think she's modernized any show since the early-mid 90s, and that was almost 30 years ago. When they brought her to Y&R it was like bringing in someone's hip aunt who was big on MTV in 1996 - in the 2010s.
  8. That version of the story isn't going to play to anyone but their base and a handful of Beltway pundits. They have tried many times to push GOP narratives in the last five years, and each time they've proven they don't matter. All that will matter to the larger public is the results. The public didn't care about the Beltway whining about bipartisanship with the Rescue Plan, and they won't care now.
  9. Case in point: This is not going to happen. Both are on record for reconciliation and Pelosi/Schumer/Biden have all made their positions very clear. IMO the GOP has moved into a kill box no matter what. If they all pull out of the deal, Biden still has had his Rose Garden moment where he can say to the bipartisan happy talk gang in the Beltway 'we had a deal, I tried', and then move to pass just the reconciliation package. It also is an instructive lesson to Manchin/Sinema, just like putting S1 on the floor was; that incident swayed a lot of Senators on the fence re: filibuster reform who are now speaking publicly. This whole ridiculous session has been instructive. It's not 4-D ches; I think Biden wants and has hoped for both deals. But I think he also knows what will play out if the GOP backs out. He's already done his diligence.
  10. The bipartisan bill is an afterthought to me; it's not important. It's for show to the Beltway and Manchin. The meat of what should be that bill will be in the reconciliation package - that's a foregone conclusion. The House knows that, the GOP knows that which is why they hope to derail it. And Pelosi has made it clear she won't consider putting through the bipartisan bill until the reconciliation package is agreed upon and guaranteed passage. That's why it's what really matters. It doesn't actually matter which package it gets delivered in: If it goes through, and I think it will, it's still a major infrastructure victory.
  11. All good news. Restoring pre-clearance would be a huge deal. As for the above discussion, I'll just say I see no evidence the reconciliation package on infrastructure will surely be 'watered down to nothing' and leave it at that. (It will come down from Bernie Sanders' price tag, but that's not the same thing). If this joint action causes McConnell, whose only goal is to ensure the Dems pass nothing substantive, to dig in and refuse to let any Republicans cross the line and vote for the bipartisan bill (assuming not enough defect to pass the worst possible bill), then this allows Biden and co. to simply throw up their hands, tell the Beltway 'we tried!' and With a Heavy Heart pass a big reconciliation package anyway. All he needs to do for Manchin, based on Manchin's past history, is show a good faith effort. When that fails, nine times out of ten Manchin votes for the reconciliation. And Sinema has already forsworn the same. Meanwhile:
  12. I can worry about that in 2028 at minimum. She should not be on the show anymore.
  13. That wouldn't work either. Nothing will work at this point. The character has been a flat dud and a joke for over a decade. End it. Write her out and keep her gone for years before even beginning to consider a fresh start.
  14. It's only because she's Victor and Ashley's daughter, young and white. That's it. She's been a waste of time since she was first SORASed. The character needs to be rested for many years. Bloodline is no longer an excuse.
  15. Looks great! Lovely to see Kyle Richards and Nancy Stephens back. Looks like Marion gets it again. Anthony Michael Hall is also quite prominent as Tommy Doyle.
  16. Can you give it five minutes before declaring months in advance that even if it works it won't matter and no one will care? You said that about the American Rescue Plan too and it wasn't true. I don't take the word of Brian Beutler (who hates all Dems in power) as gospel.
