  1. Are we to assume that the other side of the table was pushed up against the fourth wall? Or maybe they were leaving space for the lyrics of Defying Gravity (😉)? Kind of odd not to have Roman at Thanksgiving. And are Tripp and Joey together? Where's Wendy. I thought the leg joke was tackier than the pizza joke, but the tone for both was off. Also, while I try to avoid mentioning the looks of women of a certain age, Bonnie's facelift has settled nicely, but whatever Kayla has done, she looks the best.
  2. @carolineg you just made me realize that between Joy&Johnny and Javi&Leo, Days has avoided any love scenes for weeks. It is all tease and no visuals (except Alex in his Robin Hood cosplay).
  3. IDK, as a famous person, with a podcast, if Mr. Woolery wanted to make a buck off his BS values, then it is fair game for social media to slam him for it. And those who oppose civil rights for all are rarely applauded upon their deathbed.
  4. Again through modern eyes, but I wish Alan and Roger suffered a bit more due to the loss of Diane. She was such a Lady Macbeth-type, and she really helped build the Spaulding empire. So, it would've been at least a minor victory for her passing to have Alan acknowledge how much his company had lost by not having Diane's assistance to carry out his plots.
  5. They didn't have an affair, but Diane was in love with him and repeated the Alan and Elizabeth thing. She was blindly loyal to a bad guy, and it wound up hurting his wife (in this case Carrie) because she thought that they were having an affair. Also, I would argue that if Carrie came to town and had multiple scenes where she argued with Diane, the mystery would've been too obvious. And, Diane's murder led to Ross's redemption, whereas he was no longer as much of a bag dude. In hindsight, it was reflective of the sexism of the times. A female character like Diane had to be punished. While guys like Alan and Roger were just sexy rouges (as well as rapist, thieves, and extortionists).
  6. I would further support this by noting how it negatively effected Hope and Ciara's relationship. Even up to Hope's most recent reappearance, there was still friction between them. Ciara is almost the only one in Salem who doesn't treat Hope like a princess/saint (except for Billie). And all of that is rooted in Hope's drug dependency story and the trauma endured by Ciara at such a young age. Truly, the only thing that I like about Ciara is that she doesn't take any guff from Hope. It is the karmic payback for how Hope treated Julie. There are so few modern soap relationships that don't respect the past once a new writer is in place (e.g., the number of those who've forgiven EJ), but Nighttime-Hope had an enduring impact.
  7. Well, she had her chances and slipped out of trouble in the past. First, when Elizabeth fired her as Phillip's nanny. Then when Roger found out that Alan paid a witness to perjure himself at the custody trial. And when she tried to break up Ben's marriage. So, it was unlikely that soap justice could be put off any longer.
  8. Diane was the impetus for Carrie's DID. She unsuccessfully tried to have an affair with Carrie's husband while they lived in San Francisco, and then taunted Carrie about it (much like she had done with Alan and Elizabeth). It was also a classic mystery tale that the person killed had many enemies for many reasons. Diane had been written into a corner and with all of those who had been wronged by her, she could've never carried on Springfield. It was also a great mystery because so many other secrets were revealed during the investigation. She was literally the woman who knew too much… She knew Alan had illegally adopted Phillip, she knew that Henry was Quint's father, and she knew Carrie had been in a mental hospital.
  9. I agree, and I think this is a classic case of “good idea, poor execution.” There were tons of media accounts at the time of the adverse side effects of people on Ambien. Hope had experienced tremendous trauma, making her a perfect candidate for the plot line. And the idea that an addict would sink so low as to blame their child for their behaviors was such an ambitious choice for a soap. Higley was not responsible for the hair and makeup department, deciding to indicate that Hope was high by having her dress in black leather and wear her hair in a high ponytail. She also couldn't foresee the hiring of bad actors to play the betting part of the story. And, she did not direct the scenes where KA chewed up the scenery whilst in the throes of addiction. Which is why, although I disliked many of her creative choices, I give her a pass on this one.
  10. I would've liked Phil, Tara, and Chuck to continue, mostly because they would've been a fixture of multigenerational story telling. However, I also wonder if their progress would've been stunted due to Erica? Once Erica became the center of attention, and given that it was established that she and Tara were the same age, maybe they would've been hard-pressed to write more mature stories for Tara and Chuck, while keeping Erica eternally youthful. I'm not slighting Lucci. Nor am I forgetting that they SORASed Tara kids. However, the direct contrast may have creatively difficult to balance. Obviously, the reasons are multi-variant. Yet, I often wonder if certain characters are sacrificed in order to continue telling the stories of their peers. That being said, one of my biggest grievances with AMC was the eventual détente between Phoebe and Erica. It was as if later writers completely forgot the past in a way that Phoebe would not have.
  11. Given their iconic song, I thought the last line should have been, “I'll be loving you always....”
  12. I certainly felt that today. In the past, I feel like we were told that they were passionately in love, but they played their scenes like roommates. However, in this episode, Xander was really selling it for me when he embraced Sarah's legs. And unlike when Abe and Paulina were magically healed and then just walked out of the hospital, the music, Maggie, and dialogue moved me.
  13. @AbcNbc247 Do you think we haven't met Sophia's parents on purpose? Like, maybe, she's related to a villain? They've only mentioned her mother. But, (while I may be doing my classic overthinking), who's the Daddy?
  14. On the one hand, Leo is written as such an immature goofball that it feels as if the actor is just playing what is in the script. On the other hand, I thought his performance during weightier scenes, like those over the summer with his mother in prison, and pouring his heart out to Marlena about not feeling loved, were not as moving as I would have liked. I actually thought Judith Chapman's performance felt more evenly toned next to GR's in their scene. And that is saying a lot, given Ms. Chapman's fondness for hysteria. Even this week, when Leo thought that Javi had stolen his scripts, it all felt inorganic. We were told that this was Leo's dream job. He had written three months worth of scripts, and we knew that he was committed to doing a good job. But his screech at his laptop when he saw that the scripts had been leaked seemed to be played for laughs rather than pathos. So, I guess, I am left feeling that there is room for blame all around. I don't expect every gay to be an accurate representation of the entire culture. Nor do I think that they have to be likeable or worthy of empathy. But, Leo remains a one-note-clown, despite multiple efforts to make us feels that he is a victim of his past, lonely, and desperate. I also really don't understand why Bonnie would give him the time of day, given their history. Everyone seems to forgive Leo, despite the fact that he is not very kind, nor charming. Like, I can see why people would still tolerate EJ, but Leo is just a loser, a con artist, and keeps aiding multiple criminals.
  15. By most accounts, Joe Hardy was not well liked during his term as EP of GH. The cast refused to attend a press event that he held. The ratings dropped to 8th place. And it is widely regarded as a fallow creative time for the show. However, he rebuilt the Quartermaine set into the iconic foyer and stairway that would be most associated with the mansion for generations. And he produced the story of Bobbie's adoption of Lucas, which I would propose was some of the best writing for the character and helped evolve her into a more multi-layered being. And finally, although he infamously messed up the approval for the casting which doomed the character of Dawn, the idea of creating a female Quartermaine heir was a good idea, and arguably laid the groundwork for characters like Emily.
  16. I don't mind the pairing, nor does it seem improper. However, it is a sign of the time gap in production, that age differences have become more of a hot button issue in the gay community within the past few months. And given that these scenes were filmed when the IPhone 3 was still a big deal, that issue is unfortunately not part of the discussion regarding this relationship.
  17. I interpreted that scene(s) differently. To me, it was more a production issue of only using one set for all of Jada's scenes today. Rather than utilizing their home set, which would have seemed more organic.
  18. Has anyone checked in on Kris Jenner lately? 😉
  19. Today's ep was mostly forgettable. It is the little things that always annoy me. Like, why did Jada ask Rafe if he had reconsidered quitting after a good night's sleep, when they share a bed, and she could've asked him at home? Otherwise, nothing happened, except we learned that Kayla hasn't left the hospital in days 😉
  20. This browser extension finds all the people that you follow in X/Twitter who have migrated to Bluesky https://www.sky-follower-bridge.dev/get-started.html It is brilliant
  21. Have you guys not seen what Grindr look like when you open it in Salem?
  22. She lived in the carriage house during her fight with Dorian over her father's will. Which is why during Karen Wolek's trial, you always see Viki in the carriage house during her scenes at home. IRC (which is not always possible), Dorian didn't move out until her marriage to Herb.
  23. Kerry is the hunky guy who tried to seduce Leo in a single episode appearance over the summer that got way too much attention. Biscuit-gate refers to the time that Jada's sister Talia spiked the biscuits at Sweet Bits with a potion that got people all revved up, and resulted in Eric getting Nicole pregnant with Jude. My objection to the cupcake drama is that it seems to be setting up another silly story to coincide with Doug's passing. They never seem to get the tone correct.
  24. I'm surprised by those trying to justify this decision, I assume you get @Antoyne's point and there is no need to dispute it. I'm not trying to start an argument, but it feels strange that people are straining credulity to support this lame choice.
