@Soapsuds While I can't cosign your distaste for mole, your Bennifer comment is right on target. 🏹 Sort of like when Leo went to Iceland during Gwen's honeymoon with the excuse that he was there to see Madonna, after she had postponed her tour IRL. Stay tuned for next week, when Javi eagerly awaits Liam Payne's new album (too soon?). OK, on to the episode: Jack and Jennifer told Cat where to find Chad? I doubt that they would tell her where to find anything after that slap. Did Gabi move into the apartment where she was arrested for Li's murder? I hope she got a good price. I really like JJ this time. He's neither too good nor too cocky, like he was in his youth. I just hope he finds something else to do than join the Salem PD again. Doug III's eyebrows are suspect.

Murder, She Wrote
It's one of those stories that I wonder if it is any longer feasible in the current culture and with advanced technology. I mean, even in a small town, do we need an old lady puttering around when we've got DNA evidence? And wouldn't people begin to question Mrs. Fletcher's biases in racial and gender profiling? And what about the liability of having a mystery writer allowed at a crime scene?

DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
OK, I'm a little lost. JJ lives in Johannesburg with Claire? I guess I got him mixed up with Joey, but I thought he lived in Portland (or Seattle?). Why do they live there, and what business do they manage? Is it the medical supply business from the novels about Salem? I know it's mean, but if Cat used to look like Aaron, I'd say the plastic surgery was a glowup. At least we know who's been taking care of Aaron and Felicity (a trusty under-five player). Although, it's funny that Cat never thought to ask in the weeks that she's been back from Paris. And, good to know DNA tampering isn't a crime in Salem.😉 Everyone from Sami to Caroline Brady's corpse is breathing a sigh of relief. It left me wondering if anyone in the history of DOOL has ever been prosecuted for DNA or baby switching?

I enjoyed the Roman and Shawn scene for the dialogue, but I still don't feel like this Roman is Shawn's uncle. Beyond the marble mouth delivery, it just felt as if they had no shared history. I don't fault the actors, but IIRC Shawn usually went to his mother for advice, not Roman. I mean, who's going to say that Shawn and Belle have broken up and remarried so often, that it's not a surprise that they divorced (again). They've only been married this time for a couple of years. It is hardly a big deal for anyone else in Salem. Also, I enjoyed the line read when the judge asked Shawn how Philip could be his uncle, and Shawn just treated it like it was natural, since they grew up together.

Your daily (or nightly) thought
Yep, only the US is going to restrict TikTok from the Apple App store in January. Because, even though they are managed in Singapore, the fact that their company headquarters are in China is enough to make GOP frightened that they are stealing our data while we watch people dance and give life hacks.

Your daily (or nightly) thought
In preparation for the imminent shut-down of TikTok, I went through my list of follows to subscribe to them on other social media platform. When suddenly, I was struck by the number of accounts that I flip through and ignore on a daily basis. Either because they annoy me, or their current content has strayed from their initial focus, or they've become too repetitive, there are numerous people that I no longer wish to think about. So, while I mourn the loss of TikTok, and the silly political reasons for which it is being restricted. It feels like a fresh start to get certain “influencers” out of my conscience.

I think of Julia and Katherine Delafield as having the same energy, and I'm not sure that type of character is well suited as a romantic interest for Tony Geary. Using these sort of prissy buttoned-up women didn't seem like an organic match. Bill/Luke was most successfully paired with a schemer, like Tracey or a Jackie-Templeton-type, to contrast with his iconic pairing with Laura. Not another blond who requires his help to stay out of danger. For obvious reasons, it was hard enough to create a sexual vibe with Tony Geary. But, I don't think it helped that neither woman felt sexually liberated.

The justice system in Salem is messed up. First, Gabi is thrown in jail without a trial. And now, a judge splits up Titan, despite that not being the damages that either side wanted. The judge isn't Solomon from the bible, you can't just make up a verdict. Beyond the hearsay issue, why was any of the testimony about violence allowed? It wasn't relevant to the facts of the will. This was a probate case. Not a case about fitness as CEO. That is an issue for the board to decide. Can you imagine IRL if a judge was allowed to rule if Musk was fit to run X? They shouldn't allow him to run a vacuum cleaner. Going back to Philip, I am more surprised that Sarah can suddenly walk without any assistance. It seems unethical for Titan not to develop this serum if it can magically cure paralysis in two days.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
This must be hyperbole, because the answer is self-evident. Not only would most writers want to “make their own mark” in order to remain creatively stimulated. Also, they are usually hired because ratings or interest has fallen, so they are encouraged to institute new ideas. In hindsight, we may not agree with it, but if Pam Long hadn't been able to create Reva or Alexandra Spaulding, it would have been a huge loss.

Although, I didn't infer your comment to be critical, much like my thoughts on Harding Lemay's memoir, we must remember that recollections aren't always facts. As you likely know, he wasn’t aiming to write a definitive history of DAYS, especially with the anniversary book being published around the same time as his book. Still, his poignant stories about the loss of his family will always leave me deeply moved. The account of his sibling’s passing is especially heartbreaking, and his candid reflections on his struggles with his mother during her time of dependency were incredibly brave. When people joke about Ken needing to retire and play golf—or more fittingly, the piano—I’m always reminded that running his family's business wasn’t his dream, but a responsibility thrust upon him. The fact that he's managed to keep things going is a real accomplishment that I admire. I saw his first piano recital, not the one this year. And I could tell that music, not producing, is his passion. But, his cast seems to like him, and like many nepo-babies, he is maintaining the family tradition.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
This may be an odd answer, but I think Gwyneth never loved a man the way that she loved her children, Curtis and Trisha. Jeff was a lustful impulse. She cheated and competed with Clay. Her fling with Dane was just to get under Ann's skin. And Harry wouldn't have worked out in the long run. Finally, she liked Buck and Jeremy, but their differences made it easy for her to let them go. Obviously, she loved Rick as well, but her life was devoted to Curtis and Trisha. As evidenced by the fact that she had been rejected before, but when Trisha cut ties with her, it literally drove her insane.

- ALL: Extremely long-held secrets that still haven’t been revealed to other characters?
In hindsight, it is hard to believe that Dina knew, but John didn't. Although, I actually only thought about the holes in the plot as I read your post. Assuming Ashley was born in the early 1960s, which was before DNA tests, or widespread paternity testing, Dina must have known because she slept with Brent around the time of conception. Furthermore, given that she was so certain, that must indicate that she was not canoodling with John at the same time. So, nine months, or even 40 years later, why did John never question how Dina got pregnant when they hadn't been sleeping together? And if she was sleeping with both, how could she have been so sure it was Brent's baby? I agree with @DaytimeFan. Maybe John was in denial because he loved Ashley so much. That's the only rational conclusion that I can make.- DAYS: December 2024 Discussion Thread
I guess it's cool that the production recycles (I see Doug III is wearing Philip's old jacket), and good for Caterina for wearing vegan leather. But I assume within the DAYS universe, Cat wouldn't have borrowed from any of those other women's closets. 😉 It also still doesn't explain why she would wear that outfit to catch a criminal. Half an hour later… @janea4old you've sent me down a rabbit hole, and I am not embarrassed to say that I've bought two of Leo's cardigans (don't worry, I'll style them to look much less kooky). Thanks for the link!
