What can I say about Richard Simmons? As a nine year old boy, not knowing gay from granola, a Catholic School kid with his head in books that had had three straight falls with chronic pneumonia, I knew I was enjoying the daytime dramas more than any other boys. I would rush home for GH because Luke and Lauras and the gang were up to their eyeballs in trouble with the mob, Steve, Audrey, Jessie, Dan, Lee and Gail were at the nurses station. Peter was still alive and Heather was in the asylum -- Monica, Rick and Alan were up to their ears in a mess -- and all of my nurses Amy, Bobbie, Stacy, Diana were hanging with Claudia, Monica, Kathy Somers, Beverly, Lesley and Gail at the Campus Disco with this weird bubbly guy that all the girls would hang around with. The man could make you laugh, and he was so good with Beverly and her weight issues. He, and the character he played (basically himself) have always brought a chuckle and a smile to my face -- and probably always will. That is until Ron Carlivati brought him back and made a buffoon out of him. Rest Easy, Richard Simmons, you earned it.
