B&B: May 2026 Discussion Thread
5-20 I guess it's off to a good start. Not too bad. A little movement which is good. I think the highlight for me so far was Remy/Dylan. It was giving soapy with the near miss with Hayes. So it does appear they are going to tease out their connection for a good while. And just the fact that Remy is lurking when Electra was RIGHT THERE with Dylan was creepy, but thrilling given the backstory. While I'm not sure how I feel about a Dylan/Electra reconciliation, I am curious to see where the story goes. I had to holler at Hope's honest reaction to Brooke letting Ridge not choose her and just falling into bed with him. I mean...Hope what did you expect? lol. Karma for her putting the idea in Brooke's head to try to take Steffy's job in the first place. Feel a way. Speaking of feel a way, it was nice to see Zende for a moment with some story. I'm assuming after the scene he had with Ridge and then RJ that it will as tabled for now as this lame CEO story beat that I said would go nowhere. It's weird seeing Taylor this week and no Deacon or Sheila in sight. But so far, so good. Already better than the week before for sure.

I can see that. I liked the situation of Alexis slowly but surely worrying if she would actually have to commit Kristina. But instead...Alexis got cold feet and would rather play a game of blackmail. She sure can! That was a great moment. FACTS. Especially the bold. He would not.

What hint? It has always felt like Hayley was just a plot spoiler than a person to compete. Now...Andre/Dani/Bill on the other hand...except for a little bit at the start of this 'second season'...have given the hint of an actual soap triangle and build organic. So it confound me how when the show plays with it...and it's giving soap...they sidelined it constantly.

Very. It can be a crazy hot summer story now that the plasma ring storyline is taking a turn, Anita's cancer as the A story is on the backburner for a moment, and the cotillion storyline is now over. But instead, it is moving as slow as the plasma ring storyline has been moving for months. And it is the better storyline of the two and personally better written. Or was.

Or find a way to keep Val front and center and relevant when he's not needed, but yes, very much THIS. Frank does not know when to let someone go. Moreso if they look good. I hate to say it, but a solid agree. There's potential there, but I have come around to them just resting Kristina if they are not going to commit. And that smugness was soooooooooo off-putting.

You did. ;) I remember because Insta and my laptop do not get along. :) Yeah. I would love for them to get back to an event or something happening every few weeks myself. Or if that is too much, something happening once a month. Cuz the stall from February to now was horrible compared to this time last year where things really felt like they were building to something or there were still events going on (and on screen). Don't even get me start on GH where the writing tics are showing again in spite of the good stuff which is making my catch-up a chore...something I'm not used to from GH in May.

I at least liked her on DAYS...the only time Abby had some spark, but I understand. I agree. Starting...for better or for worse...with writing Lulu more like how she was when she came out of that coma with Alexa in the role. Cuz current Lulu...NO.

Yep. Such wasted potential...ready to go, too, before Kate Mansi walked into frame. Yep. It's why I always pick on Frank and his Flavor of the Month.

I am definitely curious to see what they do with Kristina as the only adult daughter of Sonny. No lie.

5-18 It still holds up from start to finish. It's such a simple thing. And I'll say it until the cows come home. Either an A story, an event, or a solid B plot that is ready for attention as the main thing. Follow that with a B plot or a B plot that is working. And bonus if there is a C plot going on. And watch a good soap week. And overall, Cotillion Week proved it. Just this episode alone on a rewatch. Natalie Minardi Slater is reeeally good at breakdowns. I believe that I've liked every one except maybe two. And two, for me, just feels like I'm stretching it. There's usually just a structure and a flow to them. But she's only as good as her script writer. And this was such a good one. I didn't like that after giving it a build back in February, the show stalled the cotillion story. Worse, they kept all potential story beats off-screen. So it was great to see it back in focus and back on screen. I loved the women in their own scenes. I also loved the men had their alone time, too. It reminds me of the event where all the men swooped in on Tomas when he started to date Kat. lol. It was nice to see everyone bonding (but Kat and Eva of course). I really also liked the sprinkling of subplots (Smitty, Dani/Chels, Nicole's Ted fantasies) within the intimate scenes. And I really loved how the costume designer really nailed all of these great looks that was cohesive, but still got every characters' personality. My faves were Kat (*cough*ponytail*cough*) and Anita (come thru entrance!!!!) for the ladies and Martin (hey, BC, hey!) for the men. And Samantha's stairs entrance...splendid and breathtaking. Sooooo worth the wait with the camera angles to match. Meanwhile, there was the plasma ring storyline giving support like it should have been doing in the first place. And for once...it did not bug. Perhaps it was the fact that we finally got another set. Perhaps it was that the story was FINALLY heading toward climax. But I did like the Grayson/Ashley scenes. I've enjoyed them together and it really felt like real stakes going on with them. I liked the Derek/Lia scenes. And of course we would get some Derek vs Grayson out of it, too. And C plot? I don't like that the Hayley storyline is another story that has been stalled, but it was nice that they dangle the tease about Hayley's past (or cover story?) out there for the audience. When we were introduced to Hayley, she said she was an orphan. Now that we know she's a con and that Randy is her cousin...well...DOES Hayley have family out there? Is it another case of foreshadowing. All in all good start to a great week.

Hehe. I agree. It did re: the dress. But now that time has passed, she really does look beautiful. But that's true of Vanessa period. Also guilty. As much as I love Shannen Doherty, I have thought about an avatar (since I change it one every decade hehe), but too lazy. And it stays fitting.

Time will tell. I hope she is well though. Nicole still sits as my favorite character. Since Day 1.

Horribly. I don't think she ever recovered from Blaze and Natalia and no one was here for Kristina with Lucky, but Frank. But I like Abigail staying dead. It keeps DAYS somewhat serious among their back from the dead stories.

Anything to make Cassius the Peter August 2.0 that he now is. Ugh. THIS. Because the more the story runs on, the more like Peter August it has become all over again and I LOATHED Peter August (though mind you I liked Wes Ramsey...my crush on him in CHARMED is legend here at this point...though also mind you, I didn't like how he acted with fans on his way out of the door). I've been over this story and WSB Random Guy since Frank is clearly Frank-ing. Again.

It was I believe. You sure do. Poor Reed and Mattie. hehe. I think for some reason I was thinking that Rory Gibson's Micheal came in in November for some reason. Or it could be the fact that Michael's return played like a November Sweeps story...hehe. But yeah, it has been in May for the most part.

Yeah, I love that even though she is no longer on the show that Pettifluer seems to still be close with some of the girls.

Hehe. Well, I will eat crow if wrong and will hold to the other soap belief that it was the start of a C plot. That said...I can understand the opposite as well. After decades of soaps just not having an actor/actress in an episode with optional dialogue explaining why they are not there, going back to old school soap where they do the why on screen is refreshing. Time will tell. And wow! You all ran with my Deanna thoughts this weekend. hehe. I feel that I too should disclaim that I do not want Deanna to be mentally unwell because her as a spitfire is very much needed and the actress is strong and a mental illness on a soap will lessen some of that. BUT they have been laying the groundwork for that for a looong while as well. Again will tell. Given how good this week was, BTG really should not hold back ever again. So honestly...WHY? Since Teresa Zimmerman was largely responsible for writing last year's anniversary party episodes, I'm surprised at how little she was on this week. Okay, back to rewatching...
