  1. How sad. I have no sympathy for any of these people. I'm only disappointed that'll do so little time when he isn't cooperating.
  2. Poor Mollie. Her last moments must have been so terrifying. I hope her loved ones can find peace. I hate to even think of it in terms of politics, but I do think Trump has failed to rile more than his base on this issue. Obviously sometimes Americans are murdered by the undocumented, but on a macro scale it doesn't happen that often. I imagine that's cold comfort when it's your daughter though.
  3. Thank God. Let this be the beginning of the end for all of these terrible people.
  4. Please let the 8 counts be guilty, please. Now. They are coming back right now. Please let justice be served.
  5. ^ This is shaping up to be a good day. Now please let the Manafort jury find that SOB guilty on some of the charges.
  6. There really is no bottom here.
  7. It's obviously true and very sad. I just wish adults would learn to keep their hands off anyone under 18. It shouldn't be that hard.
  8. Please, don't let this trial go sideways.
  9. The police used a taser on an 87 year old Syrian woman with dementia who was cutting flowers with a knife. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/16/us/georgia-police-taser-woman-dandelions-knife/index.html
  10. ^ Good lord, that is just nuts.
  11. This thread. The corruption (or in this case witness tampering) is endless.
  12. Sasse really things he's clever when he posts this kind of thing, but I think he's a coward. Do we need a tape to know what Trump is? Will it even change anything if tapes do surface?
  13. I think its a safer thing to say now that Trump's motto is MAGA. I remember someone asked Noam Chomsky (huge critic of American foreign policy for anyone who doesn't know) if America was the greatest country in the world decades ago. At first he said yes and then he backtracked. Since then I've always wondered what "greatest" even means. Greatest in terms of military strength? Greatest in terms of economic opportunity? The best place on the planet to live? I think it's such a subjective and in some ways indefinable concept. It also depends very much on who you are and where you are standing. Perfect for a Trump motto really because you can't even nail the meaning down, so it makes a good dog whistle to people who miss the bad old days.
  14. This is hilarious.
  15. I don't want to believe it, but I do. I guess we'll see if the video surfaces. Looks like that far right rally was an utter failure. Supposedly there is a lot of infighting within these hate groups. Every once in awhile there is some good news.
  16. Because there are a lot of stupid people out there. My Facebook feed tells me that. Some of the people I follow post ridiculous hoaxes and urban myths like it's God's truth all the time. These are by and large educated people, there are just no critical thinking skills present. Some people don't understand what evidence is or have fact checking skills. That's at least part of why we are where we are right now politically. BTW, I'm not saying making one mistake makes people stupid, we all make them. I'm just saying when people are constantly falling for the latest scare tactic meme and sharing it without a second thought, it's disheartening. There is so much disinformation out there. Clinton, Pelosi, the Obama's, George Soros are all victims of it.
  17. Thanks for the warning. I have prime too and I've thought about Firestick. so this is good to know. Amazon can be a little bit sneaky at times, even though I like them overall.
  18. Thanks! I know I need to get on it eventually.
  19. Yes!!
  20. I can't believe these f*ckers are going to march in D.C. I just heard about it, which is one of the negatives about not having live TV any more, not that I can watch news with my kids around anyway. I hope no one gets killed this time.
  21. Maybe they're right, but the term white nationalism has always hit my fear button. It doesn't make me think of patriotism it makes me think of militant zealots and ethnic cleansing.
  22. Damn it. I like this guy, but this is not who we need, imo. I want a return to stability.
  23. She's so far gone that she thinks only famous people matter. I hope she comes back to earth someday.
  24. Yes. Why not take some time to learn and grow in her position before exposing herself to the larger fray. Maybe she thought this was her moment and wanted to capitalize on that.
  25. ^ I don't think that's cynical at all. It's the clear reality.
