  1. I try so hard not to call other human beings trash under any circumstances, but this woman tests my resolve regularly. https://twitter.com/KyungLahCNN/status/1033107021896146944
  2. The war these people are waging on the poor is endless. It really makes me sick.
  3. That is pretty scary. I suppose these types of machinations have been going on behind the scenes forever, but when the veil is lifted and you see the extent of it, it's just terrifying.
  4. People always assume I mean NYC when I say I'm from NY (Well, I did live in Bensonhurst those first three years, but it was the sticks after that). I've run into people out west who don't even realize there is anything to NY, but NYC. That shouldn't be surprising, but it always is because the rest of the state is so big. I lived in San Francisco for many years and it's true enough that I never thought much about the inland part of the state. I did drive through once and the people are very rural. Just like NY, it's a completely different world. I had no idea until I saw for myself.
  5. ^ I grew up north of Albany. I'd say a lot of people consider upstate NY figurative fly over country. It was very Republican when I was growing up. Really the Adirondacks are very nice, although I could never live there again. We had to drive about 20 miles just to get to a real grocery store. The guy who drove my school bus was a diary farmer and the western part of the state is full of farms.
  6. I wonder how long it will take this fact to permeate the news cycle, if it ever does.
  7. And let's never forget that the mad king might just say burn them all. I bet there are a few people on his staff worried about that.
  8. I read most of it. I really wonder what she could have been thinking? We really need to teach people from the ground up what is and is not ok in the work place. It won't stop everyone, but when I look back at some of my first "real" job , good lord. Few of us were behaving professionally. There wasn't harassment, as far as I know, but there were things going on that should never have happened at work. I'm embarrassed for all of us when I think back on it.
  9. ^ Overall, this day just keeps on giving. I know Trump will never actually do time. It will almost certainly have to be enough that everyone around him goes down. Still, it's such a lovely thought after all the pain and danger he has brought down on our nation.
  10. Thank you captain obvious. Ezra is usually better than this.
  11. How sad. I have no sympathy for any of these people. I'm only disappointed that'll do so little time when he isn't cooperating.
  12. Poor Mollie. Her last moments must have been so terrifying. I hope her loved ones can find peace. I hate to even think of it in terms of politics, but I do think Trump has failed to rile more than his base on this issue. Obviously sometimes Americans are murdered by the undocumented, but on a macro scale it doesn't happen that often. I imagine that's cold comfort when it's your daughter though.
  13. Thank God. Let this be the beginning of the end for all of these terrible people.
  14. Please let the 8 counts be guilty, please. Now. They are coming back right now. Please let justice be served.
  15. ^ This is shaping up to be a good day. Now please let the Manafort jury find that SOB guilty on some of the charges.
  16. There really is no bottom here.
  17. It's obviously true and very sad. I just wish adults would learn to keep their hands off anyone under 18. It shouldn't be that hard.
  18. Please, don't let this trial go sideways.
  19. The police used a taser on an 87 year old Syrian woman with dementia who was cutting flowers with a knife. https://www.cnn.com/2018/08/16/us/georgia-police-taser-woman-dandelions-knife/index.html
  20. ^ Good lord, that is just nuts.
  21. This thread. The corruption (or in this case witness tampering) is endless.
  22. Sasse really things he's clever when he posts this kind of thing, but I think he's a coward. Do we need a tape to know what Trump is? Will it even change anything if tapes do surface?
  23. I think its a safer thing to say now that Trump's motto is MAGA. I remember someone asked Noam Chomsky (huge critic of American foreign policy for anyone who doesn't know) if America was the greatest country in the world decades ago. At first he said yes and then he backtracked. Since then I've always wondered what "greatest" even means. Greatest in terms of military strength? Greatest in terms of economic opportunity? The best place on the planet to live? I think it's such a subjective and in some ways indefinable concept. It also depends very much on who you are and where you are standing. Perfect for a Trump motto really because you can't even nail the meaning down, so it makes a good dog whistle to people who miss the bad old days.
  24. This is hilarious.
  25. I don't want to believe it, but I do. I guess we'll see if the video surfaces. Looks like that far right rally was an utter failure. Supposedly there is a lot of infighting within these hate groups. Every once in awhile there is some good news.
