Honestly, Dante knowing Brenda wasn't that bad. It was him and the entire town being obsessed with her. Characters that should never have cared Brenda was in town like Maxie were ranting about how much they disliked her. Some of their scenes were cute. I think if VM was going to put her foot down it should have been at the very beginning because the show made it seem like something huge happened between them and it amounted to nothing. I wouldn't have been for the Brenda/Dante pairing, but I don't think it's that awful in theory. It's not like either one knew the other existed you know? There is a very plausible explanation that Brenda fell for Dante because he reminded her of Sonny and it's not like they did anything wrong. It was a situation where you either go there or don't. The half-assed retelling of the story was more hurtful then having Dante/Brenda share a kid or just not telling the story at all. IMO, Brenda didn't ever need a kid unless it was a Jax baby from 2003. Their is no point to this rando kid she has unless somewhere down the line they bring him in to pair him with Joss or Trina.

I think pushing Dante/DZ too much too soon didn't help. DZ/Dante were great, but there was a time Dante was EVERYWHERE and even I got sick of him. It strange how he quickly became marginalized after a few years as the main lead. At some point the show just sort made Sonny into a family man with Carly and stuck with that. Well, they should have scrapped the entire romance, but, yes agreed. I thought NL was cute being drunk talking to Sonny, but maybe she should have passed out on the couch and Sonny put a blanket over her or something instead. Wasn't the Sonny/Emily stuff rumored long before it happened? Just no one wanted to believe it? I remember seeing some scenes and feeling it was coming as well. It's very interesting they gave Emily the initial bi-polar arc with Sonny. It's such an important arc for Sonny and he played it out with such an inconsequential love interest.

The whole Emily thing was embarrassing for Sonny, so just add that to the list. It was a scene that stuck out as odd because he had Max carry her. One of the 4 or 5 scenes I remember from that "romance". I don't know why I have noticed Sonny/MB never carrying women around in love scenes or in danger/illness situations but I have. It might be because Brenda/Jax had such a different physicality and Jax/Ingo was always carrying her around and Sonny just never did that with Brenda or anyone else. It's a really bizarre thing to notice or fixate on, but I figured it might have been some sort of personal choice for Sonny/MB. I can imagine Guza tiring of Sonny/MB because a lot of his stories and romances tanked. Even if it was not entirely MB's fault, I can see a HW getting frustrated with spending time and focus on romance after romance and none of them panning out well. Plus, Steve seem to be pushed into the leading role by the mid 2000's and DZ took off quickly. I could see the temptation of pushing Sonny out as the main lead.

I don't think so, but maybe. I have noticed MB rarely, rarely ever carries a women. He's certainly not Jax carrying women around like ragdolls. I think I can only remember one or two times he carried Brenda or Carly and it was TB's Carly and those two women weigh like 80 lbs. It might be a height/strength thing tbh, but it's honestly something I have noticed Sonny/MB never does even when the scene probably calls for it. One of the scenes I liked with Emily is when Sonny takes her to his island I think and tries to be all cool and speaking Spanish to everyone and NL's Emily starting speaking Spanish too. And Sonny was SHOCKED Emily could speak a second language.

Yeah. 🤣 I read his book during quarantine and it was pretty good honestly lol. He's pretty up front about the fact he was living with his wife (not married yet) and cheating on her while he was on AMC. I thought that was pretty honest of him to tell the world. A lot of the stories in the book don't paint him as a great guy. I am not saying he's awesome and the best now, but I have watched an episode or two of his podcast and I do find myself liking him. He's probably just mellowed in time. He's been married forever and so has RC so I am sure it's water under the bridge now.

I do lol. I heard that a long time ago and that it was one sided, but I am almost positive in his book he said it was a relationship. That could be just to save face and he didn't mention RC in particular. His own accounts of his behavior back then aren't the greatest, so he may have just been a huge jerk back then.

@amybrickwallace is right. It allegedly goes back to their AMC days. I have heard two stories. One is that they dated or had an affair and it ended badly and the other is that MB pursed her very aggressively and she wasn't having it. I think it's fairly common knowledge that RC did not want to work with MB on GH very often. I want to say MB discusses it in his book as an affair gone wrong, but does not mention RC by name.

I thought AT could be very irritating as well. Overall, I liked her better because AT's Emily was different than the normal cookie cutter heroine NL's Emily became, but some of AT's Emily's brattiness would annoy me. Especially when she would bash the Q's and eye roll everything her family said and thought Jason was the coolest. I also thought AT had good chemistry with CB's Zander and I don't think NL really had chemistry with anyone.

Yes! Everything after Nina's initial story with Franco, Finn, and Ava totally could have been Skye. I never thought about that, but it would totally work. I know there is something weird that happened with MB and RC in the past, but they have chemistry as well. I have to agree she was super irritating, but Nik was no prize himself. I can see why Helena wouldn't tolerate a woman like that for sure though. But again, Nik dated Courtney, Nadine, Gia, and Brooklyn, who were all from less than stellar backgrounds. Maybe not Brooklyn, but he was paying her for companionship, so?

Thanks! I remember Lydia and the Summer plot a little. Didn't they recast Lydia fairly quickly? Were the Q's not wealthy enough for Stefan? It's not like Emily was poor white trash. Annoying, but not an unsuitable mate for Nik. I never got the Cassadine Emily hate. I don't remember TC checking out that early in his second run. I used to think he was one of the worst offenders with that, barely even trying in most scenes, especially at the end. I wonder how much of that had to do with his personal issues now.

To dump her? That's fine. To dump her at the altar in public was what was out of character for Jax and for Jax/Brenda. I just don't believe Jax would ever do that to Brenda when he saw how she suffered when Sonny did that to her. It was 100% a conversation that could have taken place before she walked down the aisle in front of friends and family. And then to awkwardly try to pay her to leave town? Gross. I also think Jax was being super weird and pressuring Brenda to marry him immediately. No worries about defending Jax. I used to love him. It sad IR makes me hate Jax.

It was just a weird, rushed ending for Brenda/Jax and horrible for their fans. Jax even offered her a million dollars to leave town. I *think* the original plan would have been to have J/B get married and then for Sonny/Brenda to fall into an affair or something and then it would follow the basic beats of what became the Sam story with the baby and Jason. Ooof to the Summer stuff. Now that you are telling me this it is sort of coming back to me. It was just a very b story at the time. Didn't Summer tragically die?

I don't remember the details of the story but I remember it being awful. A hooker in a love triangle with father/son? I have no affection for Courtney/Jason, but I didn't mind them back then. Or maybe I just giggled when she looked so sad after Brenda/Jason got married. I liked early LiRic a lot as well.

It was so good! Must see tv at the time. It's not a surprise the ratings reflected that. Almost every story was decent too except for the Lucky/Luke/Summer stuff. It did begin to drag during the Luis trial, but I do think Guza was going to ramp things back up with Brenda/Sonny/Jason after that if VM didn't leave.

I didn't love her as an insta-Q and it did feel like she was immediately part of the family knowing none of the history. I did like her relationship with AJ. I was actually annoyed they de-Qed her, not because I had investment in that, but because they did it to pair her with NED. Skye was just an odd fit for OLTL and GH and Guza never knew what to do with her. Skye was everywhere and in the strangest pairings. Anyhow, the potential of Jax/Skye was there but it moved so fast and everyone knew it stood no chance against a Brenda return. I may have broke Jax/Skye up before Brenda and given Jax/Brenda other obstacles (non-third party) and saved Skye for post-Brenda Jax. I'd be fine with Skye popping in now and then and bringing Lila Rae on canvas now as well.
