Craig/Nancy's much younger daughter. She was born during Chloe's leukemia story I believe.

It is kind of ridiculous Tripp can't find a girl. He's very dull for soap standards, but any women or man would be banging down his door in real life. But Rafe's got women always after him? That's more unbelievable than anything lol. It seems like such a no brainer to cast Joy and throw her into the Johnny/Allie/Chanel/Tripp stuff, so of course it won't happen.

I like Chanel/Abe. I feel bad because I actually think Tripp deserves better. He's a pretty great (if not extremely boring) guy. As much as I have previously derided the Craig stuff, I am willing to see this one out. I mean I know where it's going but what Craig said into the phone was pretty innocuous. He can easily say he was on the phone with a patient and then Joy called. That's what I would do lol. So I get Marlena's desire to apologize to Paulina. That's fine she broke her medical oath, but Paulina was also in the wrong. It came out at the wrong time and in the wrong fashion, but Paulina played with a lot of lives and is very poor me about it. I just have a hard time feeling that bad for Paulina on this. If Days was going to do this right Marlena would be at risk of losing her medical license, but it's not playing out like that at all. Anyhow it's on brand for Marlena to do an apology tour, but it's very out of order. You think Marlena would apologize to Belle first. Anyhow, I am glad Johnny is being held accountable for the movie. You can't just up and not do it when you made commitments. I know TR is evil, but like that's real life JoDevil. I was kind of laughing at Coates making all those cracks about Marlena being a grandma. Like sir, you are not a swinging guy in your 30's exactly. I get that it's ironic because he's actually a grandpa, but it made me laugh for some reason.

Post-Carly perhaps Liz. You are going way far back I thought maybe Dante or Patrick? I thought Patrick was a little cliche, but they did take time to develop him even if sometimes it was poorly done. I think there are a lot of characters that would have been gone if the actor wasn't interesting. Brenda, Sonny, Carly, Ric, Alexis, Liz, Patrick, heck even Nina and Ava have lasted longer than they should have because they are interesting to watch. It's people like Sam that astound me because Kemo isn't interesting and neither is Sam lol.

Sonny was a plot point in the beginning, but I think it's clear everyone saw more to MB than that initial Karen plot. At least that's what WR, CL, and everyone else claimed after the fact. Anyway, CL probably did get lucky with Sonny/Brenda or at least the fact that they randomly had chemistry when they shared a couple of scenes. I guess my point was they were compelling which is something the majority of the cast can't say now. Willow has never been compelling. I would actually say Sonny is better than he was 15 years ago. That's not saying a lot but I feel like from 2001-2009 he was absolutely the worst.

They are really good in this scene. In that moment their quick break up did make sense. He couldn't give her what she needed with his lifestyle and she couldn't live that way. It leaves the door open because they clearly still love one another. I swear I thought they'd work it out years ago with VM and I honestly think she may not be back til the end. So many years have gone by that I do think they will just throw Brenda back at Sonny in the end. It will still work and be believable, but it will feel like I missed a lot of story they could have had, you know? Anyway, part of the reason it's so easy for me to talk about Sonny, Carly, Brenda, Jason or most veterans on the show is because you know their motivations and reasons they do what they do. Like Sonny or not, he's been fully developed as a character. No characters are created like that anymore. Chase, for example, is great, but I feel like I don't know that much about him or what makes him tick. I don't even think Nina and Ava are that fully developed. I actually think the last character GH that was is Dante. It may not be the writers only because I probably have more attachment to characters I grew up with, but even the newer characters I like and enjoy I don't have the investment in.

Sonny/Brenda were always the supercouple to me, but especially when Carly/Sonny first started. It wasn't far removed from Brenda 'dying', so I guess I didn't take it that seriously because I assumed she would be back soon lol. Carson were definitely fresh and different, but I also think it helped we had Hannah in between because that was a bomb. I never thought Carly should be part of a supercouple because of the actresses/history, but I do think TB comes closest to being the ideal female supercouple lead. I also think if it wasn't the Carly, Sonny, Jason show for so long Carson would hold up better.

You are right about this. And I would agree they have a comfortability about them even if it's just so much that the performers are stable, veterans, and are willing to get vaxxed to not infect others...I do think S&C had some buzz with Sarah and were actually something different and refreshing for both characters. It was never something to go with for 20 years. I never really thought they were 'endgame' but here they are.

The tin man story is one I make fun of to no end and it made little sense with how it dovetailed off the Pierce Dorman murders (a man S/B hardly knew..), but it was a fun little on the run adventure for Sonny/Brenda and moved their story forward and Jax's as well.. There were other good things like Carly/AJ/Tony and some okay Robin/Jason stuff. It was bad comparable to previous years but not bad compared to today, but I can name things I liked off the top of my head which is more than I can say now. But in all fairness, it helps so much to watch clips or stories in isolation because they move so much faster and I think that makes a huge difference even if the story was a dud.

Yes, Carson never seems that complex intellectually despite their arguments and breakups, but it certainly doesn't seem like an amazing love story with great physical attraction either. I have said many times Carson don't even bother me that much. It's just seems to be a disservice to both characters. I don't think either of them would just settle into this bland, sorta domestic bliss partners in life. I totally get everyone points about GH being afraid or just assume Carson are super popular, but are they? This is a show that broke up Luke/Laura, Holly/Robert, Frisco/Felicia, Duke/Anna, Sonny/Brenda, Lucky/Liz and so on and so forth in fairly permanent fashions. All much popular couples. This show isn't Days-nearly every decent couple on this show gets broken up.

General Hospital January 2022 Discussion Thread
Probably not. There were couples/characters that had their eras (ie John/Marlena on Days in the 90's), but no one as long as Carson. I don't even think Sonny/Brenda/Jax at their peak heyday had as much airtime as them. I honestly feel for about a decade Sonny/Carly haven't had much story. The problem is their draw was 2 damaged characters in a toxic relationship but now we are supposed to believe they are the ultimate lovestory. Both characters should have changed and 'grown' out of this, but just didn't. It feels like both Sonny and Carly reached their peaks as a couple and we are watching them to watch them. Yes! This relationship stopped working in about 2005 at the latest. I don't know if I can convey this right, but there is no real smoldering jealousy or chemistry. When Carly/Sonny get jealous it feels like they are more jealous they aren't getting the most attention-not that they are romantically longing for that person if that makes sense. I know both actors are capable of playing that longing emotion, but they seem incapable of being able to do it with one another.

Whether or not Carly or Sonny are making valid points it's the same sh*t different day for them and has been for several years. It's once again about Sonny and another women, being off his meds, and at the end of the story he'll realize Carly is the one true love of his life. Although the premise with Mike/Nina is slightly different its almost the same back and forth crap they have done since the beginning of time. I am not saying other couples on all soaps don't do this, but there is something about Carly/Sonny that has been stale for years. The jason/Nina stuff could of went somewhere, but it went back to the most predictable place possible for them. The Carly/Nina feud could be decent, but haven't we already seen Carly lose her mind over Sam, Brenda, Kate, Emily, Reese, Hannah, etc. etc. Carly vaguely handily maturely is something different.

I don't think it's exactly hypocritical or devaluing lesbian affairs. Johnny publicly and cruelly dumped Chanel. Chanel wasn't looking to end the relationship with Johnny at all. He told her it was done with basically no hope. I don't really even consider Chanel cheating because her marriage is over in all but name. Allie is taking cheating on Tripp seriously. I don't think Johnny kissing Gabi is worse than Allie/Chanel, but Johnny's behavior to Chanel and overall is awful. Of course, this will all be messy when the devil leaves Johnny, but I don't think the show is saying straight cheating is worse than "gay" cheating.

I am not complaining either, but I wish there was a reason the Devil completely changed it's course of action. Even if JoDevil just said he was laying low on the Cin baby for awhile to throw suspicion off the devil.

They really don't have any romantic chemistry. They really at best seem like good friends. But mostly I cant invest in any of this because Sonny/Carly will go back to the default couple at the end of the day.

I am not going to lie, I feel like Sonny/Carly have had a variation on the same convo for the past 20 years now.

I almost think Gabi/Johnny might be interesting if they had any chemistry. She does have a kid with his gay brother, but I could almost see where the show maybe could go with Johnny/Gabi as non-devil schemers. Unfortunately, I feel like we are going to lose a lot of funny, sexy, scheming things Johnny could do once he's not Possessed because he'll be "good" again. Again, with Rafe/Ava if I thought they were truly in love and had chemistry I might buy Rafe wanting to believe the best in her or something. But he doesn't even seem to like her. I actually really like AZ/Nicole in jeans. It's a good look for her.

Days of Our Lives: January 2022 Discussion Thread
I don't get why Rafe doesn't just break up with Ava? He's already on to her game, so what difference does it make if he dumps her? I totally tune out in their scenes so maybe I missing some sort of nuance to their relationship that makes this charade between them make sense.

Best and Worst Daytime Wigs
This is early in their on the run game, so maybe they got better? The blonde wig gives me doubts though. Luke could have put on a hat or something though lol.
-
Best and Worst Daytime Wigs
That Laura wig reminds me of the time Sonny/Brenda went on the run during that tinman saga with a bunch of Luke/Laura "disguises" and one was a blonde pig tailed wig and Sonny put on a baseball hat. And I think even Brenda said WTH would Laura have a blonde wig? So my assumption is that Luke/Laura weren't as stealthy as we thought in the disguise department.

It's a much better idea than some of the names I've heard bandied about like Hunter Tylo, Gina Tognoni, and Vanessa Marcil. But I am 99% whenever there is a role available on any soap someone says GT lol. And you are right 7 years isn't too much especially considering Shawn has a kid so old.

It doesn't look like she's acted in 25 years and is a little old, but I don't think that's even a bad idea. And I fully realize you were joking.🤣

I agree and disagree. I do think she's more suited to harder/darker roles. KA herself seems to enjoy playing that more and she has that exotic sort of look that works for that as well. But, I do think there was an earnestness/warmth to her 80's portrayal of Hope that was lost along the way. I am in no way advocating for a recast, but KA seemed checked out for years before she left. Like, I think Dee's acting has regressed ten fold over the years, but she doesn't seem bored or over it the way KA did. And listen, I don't fault the woman. KA started playing Hope as a teen-it probably does get stale after awhile. I don't think the show really did her dirty though. I think Corday bent over backwards to make her continually relevant throughout the years.

I don't remember much about Hope/Ted. Wasn't it just sorta of non-starter of a relationship?

There was something brittle about her performance in her 90's return. I actually blame some of that on her weight loss. She was gorgeous but it gave her a harder look. I am not sure if her being a supermodel or a cop is a worse career choice for her. I don't know why every soap had to have a supermodel in their cast in the 90's. Her and Cosgrove were actually cute together until the show ruined it. I rag on Hope a lot but she got some really bad stories. But leaving the show permanently when she was just going to be 'rested' for a few months rubs me the wrong way.
