This is chilling but not surprising, sadly. Ever since I saw a news report that stated a poll that supposedly showed that Democrats could very well hold onto Congress, I had been wondering what Republicans and their backers would try in response. Republicans have cast aside any veneer of wanting to be for the ordinary American that they used to claim interest in helping. Now it’s about barefaced greed and naked power grabs. The only way to counteract this is to have an effective strategy to get people to the polls and get them to vote for enough Democrats with integrity this November.

How sad. The stylist who worked on Serena’s Vogue cover story passed away. Vogue was her last job.

Wow, I really haven’t been keeping up with tennis because Garcia had fallen totally off my radar. This should give a number of players hope that they can make it back from a slump to win a title. Garcia is still wildly unpredictable though, so I have no idea how her win impacts her chances at The Open.

Things are definitely not going so well in Twitter land. Twitter tells employees they might get only half their annual bonus

Usually, I avoid all and anything Haberman and Thrush, but admittedly, this article piqued my curiosity…and the Japan Times article includes audio reading of the article, which allowed me to have my morning cup of tea at the same time which makes reading this article tolerable.

Oh Elizabeth!! Tewson was a gem. So much of that comedy couldn’t have worked without her.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Really? In my defense, I watched scant episodes from those years, so what I mostly know of the character is from a few episodes in which Elena portrayed the character and various chatter on this message board.

Another great point. We all may think that P&G is a terrible corporation (with good reason) but it is a company that has been around for several generations now and trades on the stock market and has a responsibility to its shareholders not to do unpredictable things. Unlike a tech company whose ethos is generally to “move fast and break things”, P&G is a staid corporate entity that built its success on having a trusted, somewhat predictable reputation. They’re not Tesla, P&G’s version of chaotic is generally having people compete for who will be next in line to be one of the next 17 Vice-presidents of a given division. Even their less successful products are likely to be spun off and merged rather than eliminated completely. No large corporation outside of a very limited number of tech companies could get away with such knee jerk behavior, not in the 21st century of corporate responsibility and regard for legacy.- The Politics Thread
Looks like Palin has a formidable opponent, more than formidable in Peltola. 🙏🏾- Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
The mess at the CDC began at the very beginning of the coronavirus’ entry in the U.S. in early 2020 when they failed to communicate how people could protect themselves and others by making a simple face-covering and using proper hygiene and allowed this to be taken over by Trump who politicized the issue and made it about “freedom”.🙄 Of course, Walensky didn’t make things any better with repeated missteps and mixed-messaging. I found this article, paywall-free thanks to the generosity of a random subscriber.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
The SoapClassics people said this years ago. It’s obvious that P&G was no longer interested in profit-sharing with the company. Conjecture on my part (notice that I said conjecture, not fact) but it wouldn’t surprise me if P&G thought they could take it on in-house and keep all the profits for themselves before discovering that their corporation is too chaotic and hyper focused on their corporate business to do what needed to be done with distribution of their television productions. A few years ago, it was in several trade magazines that P&G were trying to put out “Choose Your Own Adventure” entertainment programming with the idea toward product placement of their own products online, but that flopped. P&G seems to struggle with the type of creative entertainment that they once pioneered. That being said, my original contention was that, even the destruction of master reels would cost P&G a good sum of money and is not as straight forward as some would contend.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Ahem, as I said upthread, y’all can feel free to listen to crazymakers who dip in the thread to create chaos and then bounce if you want but I would rather stay on the side of level-headedness, until and unless I have reason…valid reason to believe otherwise. IOW, show me the receipts.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Davida Williams (Jade Taylor #1, ATWT) is co-starring in a Hallmark movie co-executive produced by tennis great Venus Williams. She seems pleased about it too.
