Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Larsa has had the nice individual scenes with her family, and figuring out her next steps. Marysol is the perfect FOH...she's funny and almost the Greek chorus. Adriana is too thristy. I would appreciate her as the villainess if she had her original face.

B&B Major Character Recast!
At least she's finally overcome the obstacle of being a bad recast now

THE COLBYS
I didn't have a problem with the number of kids Sable and Jason had. I think they should have had Bliss be off screen as being away in school..and introduced later. Monica was an interesting character in the 80s..she was written how Fallon Dynasty should have been written. A female operating in a man's world. I think her season 2 arc with her former flame, son, and Adrienne was strong. Adrienne seemed more like Claudia in terms of being an outsider. Sable was a grey character and in season 2 had agency with her job in the arts. Season 2 of the Colby's seemed to correct some of the errors of season 1...and was focusing more on the arts and entertainment industry..less on the oil industry. Miles had potential but raping Fallon was a no no. His relationship with Channing had promise..and oddly I think the actress would have been a better Fallon recast Emma Samms.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Heather said she'd never go back after her visit this past season. To save NY, you need some new blood. Someone that has a love and passion for the city and actually lives in the city. You need an Alex type that lives in Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, etc. Someone fun to shake up the boring status quo. Lean and Eboni were attempts at that...but neither were fun or interesting to me. Not sure Julia on Miami has train wreck potential. I still have Anne Heche vibes..and Martina so doesn't like Adriana lol

Y&R: Old Articles
My mom, when she was alive, said that the show needed some strong younger characters to offset the veterans. She said too many restless characters, not enough young characters. However, she said her only nit pick was that the new characters needed to be played by people that could act. And she said most of the younger characters were played by unmemorable performers (she loved Hilary though). In regards to the best years of Y & R...I would say 1991 to spring 1992. During that period, there were 3 strong stories going on at different speeds so the viewer was never bored: David Kimball story Nikki's alcoholism Sheila/Lauren

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
@Cat @Taoboi I always forgot about Teddi...so she never annoyed me. I think Drew on RHOA is the new Teddi. She lacks presence in photos, has no charisma, nor a personality. Cynthia, at least, had the beauty and fashions to compensate for her more low key approach. Ugliest housewife (personality)(tie). Adriana (RHOM) and Heather (RHOC). Both of these women need to have their asses whooped. Most Sympathetic housewife: Tiffany (RHOD) I felt so bad for her. She was an introvert that got thrown in with the wolves. I remember thinking that the other women couldn't read social cues because she wanted to be left alone and no one would respect her boundaries. Housewife regaining my sympathy: Shannon (RHOC) What made her popular originally was that she was an under dog for season 9, 10, 11, 12, 13. Maybe Heather being back has a silver lining because Twitter is not liking Heather and I'm seeing some team Shannon tweets. Best new housewife with trainwreck potential: Noella (RHOC) Wow, she just seems so eager and emotional. She'll be eaten alive....yet she's the only one offering anything interesting so far on OC so far. Lastly, I love that it was Shannon that gave Tamra a taste of her own medicine. After the crap Tamra pulled on Gretchen, Alexis, Quinn, Jeana, etc....nice to see someone pull that on her...and it being Shannon was icing on the cake.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
When facts come out like this, makes me listen less to doomsday people. If you're boosted, you'll be fine to go out. If you've recovered from a case of Covid, you shouldn't be afraid to go out. I miss the good old days when the mantra was 'face your fears'...and 'step out of your comfort zone'. https://www.yahoo.com/news/omicron-cannot-escape-t-cells-202413250.html

Y&R and B&B Early 2022 spoilers
I haven't watched Y & R nor B & B for awhile....so imagine my surprise at the following: Lily as CEO of Chancellor?!?! Why waste a wonderful actress Mishal by keeping her prisoner with Devon? Amanda should be mixing it up with Billy. Phyllis/Nick/Jack = yawn Chelsea/Sally should be allies.. not enemies. Even Jill back in her vixen days had friends. Michael is not Lauren's soul mate. B & B Sheila causing Brooke's to fall off the wagon... that is consistent with Sheila. She did the same thing to Macy back in the 90s. Taylor being back sounds interesting.. but I fear Brad Bell will go back to his usual tricks. Katie/Carter sounded promising.. but now Carter is being paired with Paris?

I'm wondering if Alan was one of those guys that were really good looking and coasted on his looks and charm..without having to develop skill or conversational skills? PR also is about image and how it looks on the surface. So when he interviews, he always asks surface layersl questions and doesn't dig deep. If I asked Eilewn questions, I'd ask her how she adjusted to coming back as Ashley after she was played by 2 other actresses, how she was able to play changes in the character. Also, I would ask she was able to differentiate between Kristen and Ashley in her approaches to acting, etc.

So Kim Cattrall is to this show as Sharon Gless was in the original?

Days of our Lives: A Very Salem Christmas’ Holiday Movie Discussion Thread
While I liked the concept of the characters playing against type, I do think Kristen/Brady are so played out... and I would have loved to have seen a more demure Kristen in this (i.e. playing against type) instead of a typically evil/shallow Kristen. Like with Ashley on Y & R, Kristen has been played by a different/better actress for awhile.. that I think Eileen isn't needed anymore. Brenda Epperson and Stacy Haiduk are certainly less expensive.. and more likely will stay longer term on the shows vs Eileen's constant whims to quit all the time. With that said, Jackee Harry and Eileen did have a nice chemistry in their one scene together.. and if there is another special.. to have both of them be the stars of it.

In hindsight, what moment would have been the perfect ending to your soap (before things got awful)?
Dark Shadows: When Barnabas, Julia, and stokes came back from 1840 to 1970/1. They're greeted by Liz, Carolyn, Quentin, David, etc alive and well. And maybe a mention that their efforts also resulted in Vicki being alive and mentioned off screen as living happily ever after..and being revealed as a Collins relative and happy with Burke.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
RHOC: Too much Heather. No wonder her acting career tanked. She always looks like she's acting. Miami: After 3 episodes, this should be called Alexia and the Real housewives of Miami. Julia gives me Anne Heche vibes..and I bet one day she'll break Martina's heart and dump her for a guy.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
I actually think the ball dropping at NYE not being canceled is a good thing. We can't keep having things paused, or stopped, for the rest of our lives. All of us have lived with the flu since the 1918 flu pandemic and lived fulfilling lives in one way or another. All of us need to accept that Covid isn't going away and we need to start moving forward...slowly, but surely. From what I've been seeing, one of the the reasons omicron has appeared to be milder is due to vaccination. My new city I'm living in (Boston) is phasing in vaccine mandates for indoor establishments. My only concern is the new mayor hasn't indicated the metrics to determine when that will be removed...same with mask mandates. Failure to spell that out is one of the reasons for mistrust of those in charge (GOP or Dems). @TaoboiI abandoned that whole 6 feet thing months ago. Maybe because I had covid 18+ months ago, and have gotten the 3 booster shots...is why I'm less fearful about Covid then most people I know in real life and on forums.

Another World Discussion Thread
Lemay could write characters having realistic conversations while the plot always seemed to organically happen like real life. Conversations flowed naturally and realistically Contrast that with Marland, who could balance and juggle plots like no one else...but man the dialogue and conversations were stilted, unrealistic and way too wordy. All writers have their strengths. Didn't have Lemay also say he wasn't strong with writing mysteries?

Great quote...but everyone I know that has canceled everything for almost 2 years has a poorer quality of life, lower mental health, etc. Balance is needed.

B&B: Bold from the beginning
Watching the season 2 episodes, I'd forgotten that Donna was the one to get her dad Stephen to come home. Donna in the early years was an even mix of Brooke and Katie. She led Rocco, Nick, and Mark on...like Brooke would do with Ridge,etc...but she had a sweet side like Katie. Shame the show put all their eggs in Brooke's basket when I found her character limiting.

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
My company already had their Christmas gathering last week in person. It was a lot of fun, and no covid cases 8 days and counting. Some good news: An at home treatment got authorization...so maybe in 2022 will be the year it does become like the flu or cold. https://www.yahoo.com/news/pfizer-pill-becomes-1st-us-172038134.html

Coronavirus/Covid-19 Discussion Thread
Also in the US, patches of the US spared from Delta's reach (Northeast especially) are getting hit pretty hard from Delta and Omricon variants the last few weeks. The places in the US to see if recent immunity from Delta will provide some protection from a huge Omricon surge will be places like Texas (I was moving from Austin when Delta cases were sky high during the summer), Mississippi, Florida, etc. Lastly, if we truly were following the science...we would have foreseen mutations coming....and helped lower to mid income countries with vaccines, medical supplies, etc.

Bravo's The Real Housewives of....
Alexia always offered a bit of drama with ladies, plus had a lot to offer with the magazines, her 2 sons, her hubby, etc. And with her new Brady Bunch situation in season 4...that still applies
