  1. I watched Generations and enjoyed it for the most part. That opening though, never made sense to me. It just didn't feel like an opening for a daytime soap. I hope BTG gets a good opening. Who knows? Maybe all we'll see is a title flash and then back into the action like some primetime shows.
  2. I cannot wait for this! I hope it's a revival for the genre that I love.
  3. Oh, I was thinking the service/funeral was going to be at GCAC. This makes more sense to me. Gathering at a restaurant as a tribute to someone, I can see that. I was just thinking "are they really going to wheel a dead body into the restaurant for a service"? That seems odd to me. The CGI is distracting.
  4. Another memorial service at the Athletic Club. Really? (Yes I know the one for Phyllis was at the club downstairs). So crazy. This show. Do restaurants really do that? I have to say, I'm over this Heather story already. It intrigued me in the beginning, but so much of it doesn't make sense that I've lost interest. The only positive is that it has reignited the Sharon/Phyllis rivalry (and Phyllis/Christine to an extent).
  5. The fact that Steve and Alice were excluded says a lot about that list. Now, I think Mac and Rachel are deserving, but Steve and Alice helped established AW and brought in the ratings. To be disregarded is disgraceful. I put them up there with Luke and Laura, Bo and Hope, Cruz and Eden, as far as importance to their respective shows!
  6. I'm a fan of Judi Evans as Paulina and her pairing with Jake. The character became bland to me once she got together with Joe. Even with her pill-popping and drama, I never really cared for Paulina after Jake. I, too, remember rumblings around the time Cali Timmins being replaced that there was talk of her not liking the role and being vocal about it. I thought it was something along the lines of her not liking Paulina being "weak". First Ken manipulated Paulina for the Red Swan story and then Jake started blackmailing her. Maybe she was happy to find out Paulina shot Jake because Paulina finally fought back. IF she had been vocal about being unhappy and the show had an opportunity to grab Judi, it would make sense to replace Cali. However, I loved Cali in the role. I thought her and Tom Eplin had great chemistry (as he had with almost all on-screen pairings). I wish they hadn't replaced her. Cali could have been a great long-term cast member.
  7. I grew up finding salvation in soaps as an outlet to "escape". I will never give up on the genre. It definitely needs to reinvent itself though. The current state isn't working. Having the same writers bounce from show to show that are left isn't helping. As others have said, the genre needs new writing talent and paired with someone that understands the breakdowns of soaps to help fit into the faster pace of episodes. Personally, I'd trim the casts and write for fewer people. I'd narrow the number of stories to one A story with a couple of minor B and C stories only sprinkled in so when the A story ends the B or C then becomes the A story. Would make it easier for viewers to tune in. Unfortunately, the whole structure of actor guarantees would have to end so the writer could write for who they want when they want. No longer shoving in X and Y to a scene that makes no sense for them to be there just to have a guarantee fulfilled. Plus, if a story is rocking they can keep it in the forefront instead of a couple days a week without worrying about the guarantees. Maybe instead of per episode pay, do it as a salary with the understanding some weeks will be balls out while other weeks will be "lying in a coma" (lol) and actors can still rely on a steady paycheck each week. Recurring characters are fine if you can get reliable actors that are still committed in a way. Wally Kurth, for instance. I'd allow for longer scenes at times. I hate these 20/30 second clips when there's a major confrontation between characters. Bring the drama back. If it's done well, viewers will stay engaged for longer scenes. Sadly, I think the writers of today's shows are tied down a lot. Too much interference and thinks out of control. If the genre is going to come back around, there needs to be great writing talent like that of the past. Harding Lemay. Bill Bell. Doug Marland. Writers who were, for the most part, allowed to write.
  8. Damn, I wish this was in English!! The great Nancy Frangione and Anne Heche. My two faves. Plus, "Papa Pope" Joe Morton.
  9. Not sure if Capitol was an inspiration, but maybe they are taking a lead from nighttime. Could MVJ be a Shonda Rhimes fan and thinking of Scandal? (A fave of mine.) She could even be a West Wing fan. Two dramas that mixed in politics very well. Personally, I'd love a daytime Scandal.
  10. My memory may be wrong, but I thought for sure Vicky was around Grant a bit when it was Heche and Rambo. Maybe not working for him yet. Maybe they just interacted.
  11. In regards to GH, whether you agree with the story or not, at least there's movement! I've enjoyed it more lately and I only tend to tune in occasionally.
  12. Yes, Anne Heche was playing Vicky when she first went to work for Grant (then Dack Rambo). Cali Timmins was also playing Paulina at the time she started her affair with Grant. All three were recast mid-story. I would have loved to see Anne and Cali square off in a rivalry. I bet they'd be great!
  13. It's great the show is going to be in the capable hands of daytime vets and not newbies who may not understand the daytime grind. I do worry, however, that there may be too many "cooks in the kitchen". I just hope they have very defined roles and aren't stepping over each other.
  14. It's so crazy to think back in the day that almost half of all television sets were tuned into GH at the same time. That's a major feat. I miss those days of soaps.
  15. If the episodes do still exist, it would be great if P&G's involvement with The Gates becomes successful. Then maybe consider streaming rights of their catalog to companies as a way to generate money for more projects. One can hope.
  16. I love Emma Samms as someone that watched GH in the late 80's. However, maybe except for the last stint, Holly hasn't been written well in years. I'll tune in again with her return. As others have said, maybe it's time for Robert and Holly to rekindle their romance and both leave Port Charles happy together. The recent writers don't seem to know what to do with them and recent viewers aren't that invested, but it would be a kiss to long-term viewers. GH could use some happy notes.
  17. Ashley already has it...and being treated for it. She can come back over-the-top crazy and play Kristen on Y&R. Honestly, I wouldn't mind. It'd be something to watch.
  18. Since DAYS has been on Peacock, I have only had the streaming service for a couple of months early this year. (I wanted a NFL game and knew Traitors2 was coming up. Cancelled after Traitors2). Even then, I never bothered to watch more than a couple of episodes here-and-there. Nothing made me want to watch. It wasn't DAYS to me anymore. With that said... I wish this change would shut down production for a few months to let the new writing team completely restructure the show. Take the time to really outline the next year, storyline project into the future, etc.. Do it right and not this fly by the pants whims that seem to have been done in recent years. Work BTS to see what actors, if any, would be wiling to come aboard again. The less time between "taking over" and the new vision the better. If I were still watching, I personally wouldn't care if characters (like the aforementioned Leo) disappeared and we were told about what happened to them offscreen. With a fresh patch of new characters appearing/old characters returning at once. Why waste the time transitioning? lol
  19. I love Laura Leighton! My fave. I wish KA could have been on longer. She could have been interesting for Michael since he picked up a hooker (Megan) later on.
  20. I'm personally not a fan of TSJ. Never liked him on OLTL, but I know he has fans. Such a waste of a character. The least they could have done was do the big "Who Killed Tucker" story that so many people would have gotten behind. Instead, Tucker will probably just slip out of town with his tail between his legs.
  21. Josie Bissett also appeared as a very, bitter Jane.
  22. They should have a teenager outside The Gates filming herself for Tik Tok. She tells her "followers" that her momma gave her up as a child to live with a poor family while her momma proceeded to live the high life. Given up because her father was the butler and her momma didn't want a scandal. Then she tells her "followers" the scandal is about to be broughten! lol You'll have the upper class family, the poor adoptive family, and the servants to give storyline to.
  23. Harsh, but I have to say that Texas was very boring at times. I was only 7 when the show started. I remember being devastated when it was taken off the air though. I grew to love it. Brette, Rikki, Ruby, Mark were a great quad. The show definitely had some talent, just not the writing.
  24. I could see CBS being the one to push Linda Gray out. Considering how prominent she was in the follow-up movies, as well as the reboot, she must have still enjoyed portraying the character. It's hard to say, though. Maybe she just wanted a break after a long-run.
  25. Thank you for the pics and listing who they are. I saw the full group photo somewhere and I didn't know who half the people are. Most of that is from aging, as we all do, and not having seen these people for years.
