I think her name was Hayley. She was an ingenue - her aunt Connie was in charge of her inheritance and James was sleeping with Connie so he could get what he wanted of it. She had a romance with Eric Hollister (Peter Reckell), kid brother of the sleazy, pornstached Brad Hollister, one of the most unlikely leading men ever on a soap. The Dobsons made them so wan that I don't think viewers ever gave a damn. I always want to see more of the Dobsons run, yet I also don't, because what I have seen is...not good, and is quite dull and jarring to ATWT's core identity. It plays like a 40-year old who suddenly starts dressing like an 18-year old to feel hip. I can see why viewers, and Helen Wagner, headed elsewhere (although it may have been P&G, not the Dobsons). I think Veleka claimed in an interview that Hastings got her fired.- Texas! Discussion Thread

I'm so dumb - I never knew that was the same actor.- Twin Peaks
Terrible news, more for those close to her than for a mere fan like me, but she was a superb actress. She made those little intros at the start of each episode that were apparently only put in for syndication seem so vivid, I can't imagine the show without them. I also remember her performance in FWWM - one scene, but a spellbinding one. The show must go on, as I'm sure she would have wanted, but it can never be the same.- Ryan's Hope Discussion Thread

I think Lyla was a strong woman during Marland's era - I rarely felt she was sullen or meek. She was somewhat somber, and she definitely was not suited to sexy or risque material (she couldn't even sing uptempo numbers) but she had humor and grit. It's only in the pre-Marland years I've found her to be a wet rag. I think they kept her in the shadows somewhat while Maggie was around and then after Marland wrote Maggie out he gave Lyla more personality. From what I remember (although I may have it backwards), Sierra learned that Lucinda was her mother. She was upset but tried to get over it. She went to talk to Lily, who resented her and felt Sierra had taken Lucinda away from her, and Lily told her about Craig and Lucinda, which she thought Sierra already knew about. This was around the time Marland still wrote Lily as flawed and allowed people (usually John, sometimes Dusty) to call her out. By 1987 that had mostly faded away.Important Information
