  1. Another set of lackluster episodes for me. I've had my fill of Aaron at this point - his nostril-flaring and fuming at Robert after he chose to lie to Andy made me laugh. He's a child. And Chas going on and on to Robert about how hard it was for HER (screw the Sugdens, or her beloved Katie) was almost as bad. They have both come across as deluded hypocrites all week. The show had nearly a year to plan this and yet the whole thing felt rushed and underwhelming. The performances were flat and there was no urgency. Even when Robert was "dying," more time was spent on Diane and Victoria worrying about Andy, or Chrissie mewling about how she couldn't stay (then why did you come in the first place, other than to act as the martyr yet again??). The only scene I'd call good was Robert eviscerating perpetually impotent Lawrence. It was nasty but it had an energy the other scenes lacked, and as always, John Bowe and Ryan Hawley have far more chemistry than the show likely anticipated, which adds a ton of ambiguity that even the actors (if John Bowe's interview last week was any indication) don't pick up on. I'd say I want this to be over but this week has been so mediocre/poor I don't know if I want to see what happens next.
  2. It looks like Kevin McCarthy is the most likely choice. Anyway, looks like another far right favorite is involved in a hoax. Remember when they used to say only liberals did this type of thing? Of course most will stay quiet about it. I don't care for Glenn Beck, to say the least, but I'm glad his site knew this makes the "movement" look bad. http://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-politics/wp/2015/09/25/why-did-a-13-year-old-conservative-star-apparently-hoax-the-white-house/?tid=pm_politics_pop_b
  3. He meant to push her, yes. He also wanted to stop her. I just don't think he would have been able to kill her. He's never had the stomach for that so directly. Even when he had that idiocy with Paddy and the grain, he was going to save him.
  4. Did Aaron and Chas get dropped on the head? - there's a phone bill that directly links Aaron to the day before Katie died - they want to keep Aaron out of prison, so they lie to Andy and to the Sugdens. - Robert is shopped to the police, denies everything, and is freed - Instead of being saddened at having to lie but relieved Aaron is still in the clear, they are SHOCKED and ENRAGED that Robert was not brought up on charges. Are they so arrogant that they think Aaron would not go down, or are they just really really stupid? Speaking of stupid, why is that dumbass Chrissie sitting around drinking, whining about how nothing is her precious son's fault, it's all Robert, when said precious son had easy access to a gun and just told her he never hurt Alicia (which means he's likely revving up to rape yet another woman - his third)? Shouldn't that be her main priority, rather than her never-ending pity parties? To top it off, why am I supposed to be upset with what Robert said to Aaron when Robert has said it all 4 or 5 different times, and every time, Aaron was upset for a brief time but quickly stripped off and got into prime position for a Sugden dicking? How would Lawrence have no idea that a director in his company was arrested for murder? It's all just crap this week. Inane, plot-driven, nonsensical crap. Thank goodness for Kerry making me laugh.
  5. Yesterday was my last straw with Aaron, Chas and Paddy. The way that they infantilize him disgusts me. Poor Aaron! Robert manipulated Aaron because he wuz in luv and Robert is scary! Aaron only lied because Robert is so mean! Yet Chas then made sure Aaron lied to Victoria, who was supposed to be his friend, just to save Aaron's neck, even though this drove the Sugden family further apart. Aaron hasn't acted afraid of Robert in months. To dredge this back up so we'll have a reminder that nothing Aaron does is his fault, we have these scenes that basically reduce Aaron to a weak, pathetic child. In contrast to the scenes with Robert and Andy, which were so rich, it just showed how horribly damaged these characters (especially Chas) have become this year. Oh, and I was actually getting into whatever is going on between Rakesh and Chrissie, but her continued enabling her of dangerous, gun-wielding, rapist son killed that. Does she EVER do ANYTHING but whine about her life and whine about Robert? Even trying to blame his behavior on Robert when she knows he was like this before Robert was in their lives. How many more people will be hurt because she's too weak to do anything about her precious boy?
  6. No, deep down I know it was an accident. He had no way of knowing she would fall through rotting floorboards. He was shocked. The show has half-assed everything about this story - if they want viewers to see Robert as a "psycho," as Aaron and Chas were whining last night, they've done a poor job of it. The writing has been all over the place with Robert and it still is. Andy has no proof. They know he's unstable. They both like and trust Aaron. I'm not surprised they would struggle to believe him.
  7. There have never been a ton of posts here to begin with, because most of the fans here who watched stopped posting at SON for one reason or another. I also rarely post for the same reason as you. At Daytime Royalty, where there is more active posting, many are unhappy with current stories, and struggle to watch.
  8. Thanks. That was nice. I wish soap fans were as generous to other soaps.
  9. It's interesting to see various people at the pseudo-liberal clickbait site Daily Beast seeming shocked about Ann Coulter's anti-Semitic outburst. One of them said she "used to be funny" (she never was). Another writes a somewhat deluded article about how Ann Coulter used to be her hero (blah blah liberal campuses blah blah) and she's changed. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2015/09/21/ann-coulter-broke-my-heart.html Ann Coulter was on TV 15 years ago saying things like women never should have been given the right to vote (and this was not said as a joke - she meant it). It's amazing how many people gave her support and encouragement, either through wanting to lay pipe in her (that pig Bill Maher) or because she was a relatively attractive blonde "babe" before the Fox News hottie parade became so prominent. Now that she is going after the third rail of modern politics, suddenly they have had enough.
  10. What was it? Link doesn't work for me.
  11. The rumor is that someone at HO or perhaps the rape support group they were working with told them it would look awful if they had John Paul hook up with a pupil after a story where he had been accused of grooming another pupil, who had actually raped him. Anyway, Kieron is essentially begging fans to support this relationship. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s13/hollyoaks/news/a669615/hollyoaks-star-kieron-richardson-wants-support-for-ste-and-harry-if-danny-miller-can-do-it-so-can-we.html#~poZIkTzpU2teR0
  12. One more media darling gone. TPaw 2.0 indeed. http://www.politico.com/story/2015/09/scott-walker-quits-2016-takeaways-213907 Trump and likely Carly will fade too, and I don't know about Ben Carson either. I have a feeling media darling Marco, a man the press has been humping the leg of for years and years now, may get the nomination. If so they will work very hard to get him in that White House.
  13. Looks like the morale problems Kathleen Hutchison reportedly caused at EE are now happening on her new soap, River City. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s17/river-city/news/a669736/scottish-soap-river-city-in-bullying-row-as-bbc-to-investigate-complaints-from-staff.html#~poYob0HftJB9kG
  14. Sadie trying feebly to mock Charity's and the general local accent here (at the end) cracks me up.
  15. Kudos to her and Diane Warren. It's not a pretty topic or one that will get you a pat on the head for addressing it.
  16. I was watching a Facts of Life rerun - the one from probably the second or third season where Natalie catches her father cheating - and they went to a fancy restaurant on Blair's dime. They kept thinking they would see celebrities. At one point Natalie squealed that she was sure she'd seen "Rachel from Another World." She and Mrs. Garrett squealed about how they should get her autograph. She came back a few minutes later (her time offcamera had enabled the scene where Edna and the girls saw her father with a random woman and wanted to hide it from her) saying it hadn't been Rachel, but the woman's life sure was a soap opera.
  17. They always say that but it never happens. Sadly this show's worst casting choices never go away. And with some of the idiot fans out there like the one I saw demanding they bring back that 30 year old Ryan recast, I can't say I am surprised... I was watching a 2005 episode, a relatively better time for the show (relatively) and Sean and Fiz are so damn annoying, especially Fiz. To think they are untouchable is bewildering to me. Looks like Simon Gregson will be leaving for a while again. I wonder how much longer it will be before they have to Rovers change hands. Unfortunately there is no one on the show who has the grit to believably run it. I do wonder at times if they will just give it to Eva Price. Or Kylie and David... http://www.itv.com/news/2015-09-19/coronation-street-star-simon-gregson-takes-extended-break-from-show/
  18. No, just that it was a campy, fun entrance.
  19. Did you see Lilith's debut scenes at the fashion show? This is when they were not sure where to take Lily - I think early in 1989 they have that weird scar story with her.
  20. I'm not sure how much you want to know in spoiler terms, but Spence has a very troubled past. The main reason everyone is trying to keep Lily and Holden apart is because Jon Hensley was about to leave the show. Some of this was also tying up a strike storyline - the strike material had Kirk doing some very aggressive scheming, and I could swear I got hints that he might have tried something with Lily. Either way, Marland toned it down. Nella's only "big" stories, if you can call them big, were a teenage romance and pregnancy with a gang member in 1986 - she confided this in her brother Roy's fiance Heather (Tonya Pinkins). The guy ended up getting arrested, Nella lost her baby, and the relationship between Heather and Roy was destroyed (mainly because the producer abruptly fired Pinkins). She also had a bit of a romance in 1989 with Beau, ex-boyfriend of fellow nursing student Pam. Nella was suspended from the nursing program for lack of attendance and other things, and the woman in charge basically told her she didn't really think Nella cared about being a nurse anyway. Nella and Beau moved to LA, although I think more as friends than lovers. Marland seemed to be tying up a lot of loose ends as he wrote out that entire teen group. It's too bad. Here's the next episode.
  21. Thanks. I haven't watched a lot of 2001 (although I have some laying around) but I have watched some of 2002 and the show does seem flat. Was he the one who brought in the Daggerts (who didn't seem that popular)? I assume the "soap star family" was an ITV mandate. I never knew that about Sam. He's come and gone quite a few times. When he's properly written he's an asset to the show (as he has been again lately with the Megan pregnancy story), but when he's not, he can be unbearable.
