  1. I guess this is why she came back... It's too bad, as I liked the actress. And also one of the only black women to be on the show for a while, from what I've read. Died so that Viliami and Madonna can get back together, I guess.
  2. Based on the voting numbers so far today I'm inclined to agree, much as I wish I didn't. I feel like so many people in this country have just given up and are happy to embrace fascism (and that's not hyperbole, that's what it is), due to apathy, bigotry, and a media that works 24/7 for their Republican leaders. Look at the pure glee from Nate Cohn, the disgust he feels for Democrats. He, like all the others at NYT who sent us to war in Iraq and gave their good friend Trump a kingdom, can't hide his contempt. This is the people who are sending us this country to a place we can never return from. And they are too bubbled up to realize the Beltway will be among the first who will be sent away. Johnson winning is the CW.
  3. Sad to hear about Bill. One of soap's best actors. Even when I was annoyed with Arthur I felt like I knew him. 92 is certainly a good age to go (if you're in good enough health anyway), but I still feel like this has been a tough year for EE alum.
  4. Stories like this, and the new polls (I know they are mostly junk, but still) showing Walker at 50%, plus Larry Sabato moving the race to the GOP (along with Pennsylvania - oddly he claims Nevada is going to stay with Democrats) was demoralizing enough until I saw this. The right, including media darlings endlessly praised for how moderate and sensible they are, are now openly calling for black Americans to be deported. I don't trust early voting numbers, so the best to hope for is the polls being overcorrected this year in favor of the GOP...but days like this I'm so horrified of where we are heading and just how few of us will be left when they are through.
  5. Susan Lucci interview. @Jonathan Even after all these years I still find Kathie Lee unbearable on this show.
  6. I never thought Annie Parisse could act. It's easier to play "crazy" and of course Sheffer loved seeing women degraded and destroyed, so that's what we got. I thought the material was utterly embarrassing trash, and was one of the reasons I stopped watching the show for good around that point.
  7. I did not realize Desi was actually gone. As is often the case, I finally stopped disliking her so much as she was leaving (I guess because we got much less of the whole "Desi is abusive and horrible but who cares because she's so loveable" routine). https://www.nowtolove.co.nz/celebrity/tv/shorty-star-kura-why-i-left-my-dream-job-46205
  8. Poor Stephanie Beacham having to deal with this very awkward interview setup, and Regis pushing her Playboy in her face as soon as she walked out.
  9. The sad part is I think Angie floats around for a long time after that pairing is abandoned. I also saw this clip. I never knew there was another plane crash with Buck in 1993 before the more famous in 1994. Bizarre. Buck was clearly a real survivor. The most interesting part of this is how Gwyn comes off as, frankly, nuts. Another unintended hint of what was to come.
  10. @JaneAusten Rob Kazinsky, best known for his work on EastEnders, talked a bit about this (leading to many "just pay for your checkmark" comments from Elon's sycophants).
  11. I have mixed feelings about the claims of whether Oprah is "to blame" for what has become of her former proteges. I could agree with that more in the cases of people like Jenny McCarthy, who was peddling dubious evidence even at the time, than with Dr. Oz, who for most of his years with Oprah was just the cuddly doctor talking about fecal matter. Still, I'm glad she endorsed Fetterman.
  12. This is content I'd be very excited by if I was more interested in the current show. Still, it's not what you usually get with soaps and online content, so I still think it's worth watching.
  13. HBO Max has been completely gutted by Warner Bros.
  14. https://archive.org/details/all-my-children-october-3-1984 Speaking of 1984 AMC.
  15. The story about Caroline and her racial bias regarding her children seems very heavy for a glossy soap like this. I wonder if that's one of the reasons the family was sent packing so quickly.
  16. I'm not sure how many people see it as a competition.
  17. Does anyone know who the older woman in this ad is?
  18. I can't remember if this was posted before, but it's a nice profile on Christine Baranski from last year, where she talks about her relationship with Matthew Cowles.
  19. Thanks. That makes sense. Sad to think these are some of McClain's last episodes - she seems fine. Watching some of this interview and seeing the host very awkwardly try to swerve whenever Scott tries to talk about people who ignore facts or the damage being done to the environment is something...
  20. Oddly, Soap Central has Heather listed as a temporary replacement in March 1980. Thanks for the extra details on Laurie.
  21. I will also say the Harley/Cyrus relationship on GL, which was the last pit stop for an increasingly degraded, hollow Harley. The only entertainment value was the insane rumors surrounding the actors at the time.
