When Gail first started on Corrie, she was the best friend of Tricia Hopkins. She and Tricia were very similar characters. After Brian Podmore wrote Tricia out, he brought Suzie in. Suzie was sharp, but with a heart, like the sidekick to a female lead in '30s movies. They were a great double act, living with Elsie Tanner, who was like a mother figure to them. Podmore wrote Suzie out when Gail got married (expressing some guilt as he did not know Murray had just bought a house). He brought her back, briefly, several years later for a very unpleasant stint where she tried to seduce Gail's husband and left town with a slap from Elsie. Sadly, that was the last viewers ever saw of her. Murray did some acting afterward, but her MS led to an early retirement. She was a treasure, and I'm sorry for how few Corrie fans will ever know her.

It's unfortunate, if not surprising, that the Biden comments are what seem to be getting the most attention in these interviews of late. I do think her attempts at courting Republican votes are somewhat clumsy and may not help her in the end, but the far left has made it clear they won't support her, leaving her with fewer options. Part of the reason for all the chatter is because they were looking for another reason to justify not voting for her (instead voting for Stein, or Trump, as many of them are fond of Trump), and this is an easy one. There are just a lot of people out there on all sides who will never vote for Harris, some due to racism, some due to sexism, and some because they dearly miss the way the Trump POTUS years made them feel. I saw someone going on about how her answers are just like Hillary 2016, but Hillary tried to run a much more progressive campaign, especially after the Bernie primary scares. It just didn't matter to them what she said or did, and they would, as they still are, come up with any reason to justify their vote. I'm not sure any Democrat could win the current election, but the bigotry at the core of this country makes me more and more uneasy as the day gets closer. I hope Harris can somehow pull it off.

Port Charles was a show which often veered between generic and irritating when I watched, but a number of performers lifted the day-to-day material, and Nicholas Pryor was one of the best. He and Jon Lindstrom made me care about all the convoluted backstory they shared, and Nicholas made Victor sympathetic. Yet there were some funny moments too, along with the angst. Even if Victor ceased to exist long ago (I assume he had died), I'm glad Nicholas and Jon stayed in touch.

There's an idea at large that CBS (and any legacy media) is liberal, but far from it. CBS had some of the more egregious attempts at "gotcha" moments with Biden in 2020. And I'm already seeing some Beltway figures chiding Harris for some of her View answers too, like not saying enough to satisfy them about what she did differently than Biden. To be honest, I think Trump has the right idea (as Biden did in shutting out the NYT) about avoiding mainstream media. Harris has to do this now, but I hope if she wins, she does the same. They need to be squeezed out of relevance. Thanks for the articles @Vee . I agree that post-election will be a huge problem if Harris wins...it's just the getting there I'm not sure of either. I do wonder just how many conversations Democrats are going to have about how they support unions, whether Harris wins or loses. Politico (I know) talks about just how fervent the efforts were in the end to stop the Firefighter's Union from endorsing Harris. I just don't know if I see Lucas as a larger part of a Spencer rebuild. The Spencer he was most tied to is gone and he isn't going to have any meaningful role in the lives of those who are left. I think his return is lip service. Thanks. I may be too cynical, but it all feels very thrown together to me. I think Frank will keep her on any way he can, although he did eventually write out Spencer and Emma, so he may just be delaying the inevitable.

In many cases it may be left up to when the actor's family is comfortable, or the cast and crew are comfortable. Zak wasn't a character who was central to story in his last years, so they probably weren't as rushed.

So much of Cissy's later years were about Whitney and their complex relationship that it can almost be hard to remember just how storied her career was. I think about the clip in the Greatest Love of All video with Whitney and her mother - that song has always been so beautiful to me, and now it means even more.

No idea if it's accurate but I think some here have said Lindsey does not want to play the role full time. I do agree there's so much to play with Sam/Dante/Lulu. I wonder if Frank doesn't really care about any of the characters and is only bringing Lulu back due to being forced.

Yes, and Perry Shen said he was asked back very, very abruptly, which is presumably due to all the upheaval behind the scenes (and the backlash over the handling of the Blaze story).

Frank Luntz is also going in on this. You can really feel the media pushing hard for the Trump comeback, especially as the return to Butler hate rally fit many of their optics, stuff they can breathlessly point to as the "moment." He is in a good place with or without them (it doesn't mean he will win of course...), but they want to be there holding his gnarled hand in this glorious moment.

To be honest I'm surprised they even got the scenes with Lucky and Aiden on in today's climate. And it's going to get much worse after November.

Sports does better than anything on TV now. They likely know those ratings will not be repeated by anything else.

The show is just completely gutted. I don't even think it matters who goes at this point. There are some characters who still have value, like Laurel, but the show never knows what to do with them.

The same people who were roasting Harris for not doing more press are now saying it's inappropriate for her to go on podcasts during the Helene aftermath. And of course she is still being attacked over not doing enough media...or not doing the right kind of media. It's a full court press, likely because they think if they push hard enough they can get Trump the "mandate" he is now demanding.
