GH: April 2024 Discussion Thread
Thursday's show: It's always a sight for sore eyes when Felicia pops up. Just her presence makes everything better, however, her scenes with Maxie were genuinely good and made me realize I do actually care about Maxie. Today's episode was very engaging and the cliffhanger made me excited for Monday. Ava vs. Nina inject it into my veins!

Daytime reel selections
It does, actually, because the material is so awful no actor is giving worthwhile performances.

Daytime reel selections
Anyone or thing from Bold should never even be considered due to the constant awful, embarrassing, and degrading material. That show is an albatross. I'm not going to say she should be nominated, but the one full episode of US soap I watched in 2023 was Victor's death on DAYS and Suzanne Rogers was great. Of the lead nominees, I can only root for Finola Hughes.

Unfortunately, looking at the actor nominees, they clearly have no chance of winning when they should objectively win all the awards in a landslide.

When it comes to casting, I know we all have our wishlists, but I think it's best to try to curb your expectations a bit because 2/3 of the cast are probably going to be newcomers, at least to soaps. Either way, I just hope the show hires a talented casting director that casts newcomers with talent and charisma and casts names not just because of who they are, but also because they fit the character like a glove.

GH: April 2024 Discussion Thread
Today marks one month of Korte/Mulcahey's official tenure. The Brooklyn/Chase wedding in May will be the first major event that is all their own. A litmus test of sorts, IMO. And yes, everything about this Heart & Home stuff is DOA. Sasha is number one on my axe list. Maybe she'll finally leave town when she hears rumbles about Kevin helping Heather. She'll probably be here until the wedding at the very least, unfortunately. Heck, they may think it's necessary to keep her around until they can do the Cody/Mac reveal. But I could see her wanting to leave town because of Kevin/Heather, but Cody feels the need to stay because of Mac. I just wish they could hurry up with it. Does anyone know if/when John J. York has returned to work? Also, it sucks to say, but seeing Morgan Fairchild like this is just sad. We should be so lucky to have her around, but that is just not the case, at all.

GH: April 2024 Spoilers
I'm not bothered by the recast because I have no connection to the original, but John Capodice is still alive and working so I wonder if he was asked at all and/or turned it down.

"You're such a boy scout." "A real man lets a woman say no." "Did I say no?" - - That was hot! Cameron Mathison still has an insane body. This version of Drew makes me understand how he was initially cast as Ryan Lavery the conman, because I had only ever been privy to the holier than thou, can do no wrong Mary Sue version. It is a damn shame Leslie Charleson is out of commission because her presence and POV under this regime would elevate things even moreso. During the Willow/Michael scenes all I could think about is the fun fan-wanking that happened here about her being a secret villain. Her mentioning specifically that it's still all Michael's money and not hers ... if she somehow finagles her way into those millions legally, maybe villainWillow could still be a thing.

I thought it was a pretty fair argument between the two as well. I was actually surprised they had Carly let it happen naturally and not butt in almost at all. Actually, it was my favourite part of the episode. I agreed with Joss, but rooted for Kristina. Kate Mansi is fantastic and has been since day one. I hope they let their animosity continue for the foreseeable future.

DAYS: Characters Returning In Late 2024
This is great to here. I will definitely have to tune into these episodes. The obvious trifecta here is Patty Weaver as Trish, but since she's supposed to be the same age as Mike, David, and Valerie, it just makes things weird. Though DAYS loves one-upping themselves in that department, so ultimately it should be right up their street!

I also found it funny that viewers seemingly had to struggle with this Marshall story for who knows how long, but when Curtis starts to walk again, he's nowhere to be seen. I'm indifferent to him, I just found it funny. Anyway, I have been watching for a full month now and I've ben very pleased with what I've seen. I'd probably grade it a B+. Just solid, grounded, EMOTIONAL, soap opera. Especially comparing it to the messes of the other three ridiculous caricatures, I'm excited and hopeful for what will transgress in April.

The Classic Film Thread
30 years of TCM! Beyond falling in love with early Disney films and The Wizard of Oz as a child, the first true classic film that caught my eye was Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte, the spiritual sequel to Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? I can't remember my exact age at the time, maybe just shy of entering my pre-teen years, but I don't think I ever even knew movies could be in black and white. It was one of those moments where I had walked into it being on the television and I felt myself being compelled to watch as Olivia de Havilland ruthlessly tortured Bette Davis, for reasons I had to figure out, and thus a long-standing love and adoration for classic film, it's history, and the pop culture surrounding it was born! Quick summation of the how the channel came to be ...

GH: April 2024 Discussion Thread
About Jason and his potential romances, taking only this past month into account, Steve Burton easily had the most chemistry with Rebecca Herbst. I'm not a couple person and am not at all advocating them to reunite, just calling it like I see it, so far. Portia was the best part of today. She wasn't taking any of these whack white people's crap and she made it known. Brook Kerr really is great in the role. That excited/concerned gasp she let out when Curtis first walked in front of her ... just such strong choices. She made me care. She brings a lot of heart to the role. The Heather stuff is solid material for me. When she told Kevin what she dreamed of doing if she was a free woman almost made me tear up. Sofia Mattson truly does give off horse girl vibes in every way. Still, I think Sasha is the character I'd miss the least if she left, but the show is engaging enough for me that I'm willing to let things simmer and stir without sharpening my axe just yet. And Tracy being a full rounded character in 2024 is a wonderful thing to behold.
