  1. It’s Disney night, but retitled. Essentially, it’s the same theme but the distinction is they are performing to songs from movies/TV shows that can be watched on Disney+, which is the same platform “Dancing with the Stars” is now on. It’s cross promotion to get people to watch other things on the platform, particularly those who might have signed up just to watch DWTS.
  2. As previously reported, “Bold Live” is back with all-new episodes beginning tonight, Friday, October 7. In light of the YouTube show’s return, producers have released a full guest line-up for October, which includes “The Bold and the Beautiful” stars Lawrence-Saint Victor (Carter Walton), John McCook (Eric Forrester), Henry Joseph Samiri (Douglas Forrester) and Kimberlin Brown (Sheila Carter). First up on Friday, October 7 is Saint-Victor, who will discuss his storyline, among other topics. McCook will be on hand on Friday, October 14 to discuss his time as an original cast member of the highly-rated series, along with his Emmy win. Meanwhile, Brown will talk about transforming Sheila to where she becomes unrecognizable to some of her biggest rivals on Friday, October 28. In the case of Samiri, on Friday, October 21 he’ll be discussing his return to the soap after the show temporarily recast his role while he was busy filming a new series for Freeform entitled “The Watchful Eye.” He reprises the role of Douglas beginning Monday, October 10. Hosted by the soap opera’s co-supervising producer, Casey Kasprzyk, “Bold Live” airs live every Friday at 7:00 p.m. ET/4:00 p.m. PT on YouTube and is the only official talk show that gives fans of “The Bold and the Beautiful” an opportunity to consistently interact with their favorite stars from the world’s most watched daily serial by way of picking up the phone, dialing a number and talking to them live on air. Fans can also take part as video guests when available. The show is produced from Television City in Los Angeles, where “B&B” tapes. 3. After taking time off for outside projects, actor Henry Joseph Samiri is back on “The Bold and the Beautiful” as Douglas Forrester, which means Django Ferri‘s time in the role has ended. Samiri returns beginning Monday, October 10, reports Soap Opera Digest in its latest issue, on newsstands now. Joining the cast of “B&B” as Thomas Forrester’s (Matthew Atkinson) only child in 2019, nine-year-old Samiri is quickly making a name for himself in Hollywood. In 2021, he had roles in such shows as “9-1-1: Lone Star” and “American Horror Story,” and in 2022, he appeared in the HBO Max series “Hacks.” Samiri next appears as a series regular in the Freeform original “The Watchful Eye,” a new drama series that follows a group of wealthy Manhattanites who harbor a closetful of secrets. He’ll be playing the role of Jasper Ward in the suspense thriller that ABC Signature and Ryan Seacrest Productions are producing. Amy Acker (“Person of Interest”) and Warren Christie (“October Road”) are among the lead cast. 4. When “The Waltons’ Homecoming” premiered last fall, not only was it The CW’s first ever made-for-TV movie, but it also marked the network’s most watched night since April 14, 2021 with 969,000 viewers and a 0.12 rating in Adults 18-49, reported ShowBuzzDaily at the time. Nearly a year later, the follow-up movie, “A Waltons Thanksgiving,” will premiere but will have a significant change to its cast. Teddy Sears (“One Life to Live”) is replacing actor Ben Lawson (“Firefly Lane”) in the role of John Walton Sr., the father of John Boy, played by Logan Shroyer. No official reason for the actor switch was given, but we suspect it was due to Lawson’s commitment to the Netflix series “Firefly Lane,” which was picked up for a second season by the streamer three months after season one concluded in 2021. In an April post on his Instagram page, Lawson shared a quick video of his time in hair and makeup as he prepared for his role as Johnny Ryan in the Katherine Heigl and Sarah Chalke friendship series. Season two is expected to premiere in two parts for a total of 16 episodes, beginning Friday, December 2 with the release of the first nine episodes. The final seven episodes will drop on the streamer in 2023. There will not be a third season for the series. The Family (“A Waltons’ Homecoming”) Photo by Tom Griscom/The CW The Family (“A Waltons Thanksgiving”) Photo by Tom Griscom/The CW During his “One Life to Live” run, Sears portrayed Chad Bennett, a bartender who had a love affair with Emily MacIver (Amber Ryan). Following his exit from the series in 2002, Sears would later have significant roles in such shows as “Raising the Bar,” “The Defenders,” “Torchwood,” “American Horror Story,” “Masters of Sex,” “The Flash,” and more recently, “Chicago Fire.” “A Waltons Thanksgiving” reunites the Walton family as they prepare for Thanksgiving in 1934. The Depression has affected everyone, but John Walton (Sears) has found a way to provide for his family through the farm and by picking up odd jobs from the eccentric Baldwin Sisters. It’s also the time of year for the Annual Harvest Festival Fair, where carnival rides, talent shows and pie contests become the center of attention for the Waltons. As the story unfolds, John Boy (Shroyer) learns the true meaning of taking responsibility, Mary Ellen (Marcelle LeBlanc) comes to understand patience and collaboration, Grandma (Rebecca Koon) finds that winning can be complicated, and Olivia (Bellamy Young) shares her healing heart with every other Walton family member — at a time when each of them needs it most. And when a young boy enters the Waltons’ world, everyone’s life is changed in ways they could never have imagined — transformed forever through love, faith and kindness! The movie also stars Christian Finlayson as Jason, Tatum Matthews as Erin, Samuel Goergen as Jim Bob, Callaway Corrick as Elizabeth and Alpha Trivette as Grandpa Walton. Notable guest stars include Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. Meanwhile, Richard Thomas, who originally starred as an adult version of John Boy Walton in the beloved television series “The Waltons,” continues as the movie’s narrator. 6. Making her daytime debut as Pamela Douglas on “The Bold and the Beautiful” in 2006, actress Alley Mills is joining the cast of “General Hospital.” Soap Opera Digest, reporting Mills’ casting in its latest issue on newsstands Friday, notes that she’ll first air later this month and will be playing a mystery character. No additional details were available at press time. Before joining “B&B,” Mills made a name for herself with roles in such shows as “The Associates,” Making the Grade,” “Hillstreet Blues” and “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman.” It was her 1988-1993 role as Norma Arnold in the hit ABC series “The Wonder Years” where she’s best recognized. 7. It’s been 23 years since “The Nanny” went off the air after spending six seasons on CBS, and in the time since, the show has become a cult classic, with fans all around the world reciting lines from their favorite episodes and emulating the many fashions of Ms. Fran Fine, played by the legendary Fran Drescher. In early 2021, HBO Max acquired streaming rights to all 146 episodes and had given a new generation of fans a chance to laugh, live and love alongside the Fines and the Sheffields, but in a world filled with reboot after reboot, one has to wonder when we’ll ever get to find out what the clan has been up to since we last saw them head off to Los Angeles to support Max Sheffield (Charles Shaughnessy; Victor Cassadine, “General Hospital”) as one of his Broadway shows was being developed into a TV show by Hollywood producers. Now comes word that Drescher has been talking with the show’s production studio, Sony, about continuing the story as a movie. In a recent “Entertainment Tonight” interview at Variety’s Power of Women event, Drescher told Deidre Behar, “There’s some talk about maybe a movie … we’re in the talking stage now with our parent company, Sony.” She noted, “It won’t be a musical,” referencing previous discussions about a Broadway iteration of the show being in development. “The musical is going to be set in the ’90s as was the series. The movie will probably be more in the present and incorporate new characters.” While she expects characters from the original show to be featured, Drescher explains, “[the movie would] dovetail into a whole other character story.” Should it feature the beloved characters and their familiar portrayers in some capacity, it’s understood that we’ll finally get to meet the adult versions of Fran and Maxwell’s twins, Jonah Samuel and Eve Catherine Sheffield. Charles Shaughnessy, Fran Drescher (“The Nanny”) Courtesy of CBS Drescher hopes that whatever happens with a musical, continuation movie, or even a reboot TV series, fans receive the same message they had during the show’s original run, which is as follows: “This is as current and present as it’s ever been. So, it’s extremely important that the audience feels like they’re really seeing the proper representation of all the characters and the relationships and they understand how noble in many ways the character of Ms. Fine was.” She adds, “And [understand] the global message of that show was that it doesn’t matter what you look like or what you sound like, it’s what in your heart that counts and that was what she proved week in and week out.” In describing her iconic character, Drescher told “E.T.,” “Besides being an amazing dresser and a sweet, loving, warmhearted, authentic human being, [Fran Fine was] unabashedly, unapologetic about who she was and it’s a great example for us all.” In addition to being an actor, Fran Drescher is the current president of SAG-AFTRA, the union for actors. 8. No worries. I can’t write it down as a policy nor can I tell every new member about an unwritten rule individually. It’s one of those things we all just have to end up learning through word of mouth. The actual reasons I’ll never iterate. It’s something you just had to be there to see/read in real time to just know, you know?
  9. Wilder was porn Jack (shower scene) while Valley was daddy Jack. Ashford is ultimate Jack. But back to the show. Mike was here too short and his scenes with Nancy were initially good, then became too cutesy. They deserved more dialogue, IMO, before he forgave her based on their history. hopefully Roark comes back soon.
  10. See now, I was referring to his on-screen persona at that time. Anything about his personal life, like that example, is eeeeeww territory. Agreed.
  11. Inspired by the classic hit series “The Love Boat,” CBS has created a reality-infused iteration entitled “The Real Love Boat,” which premieres Wednesday, October 5 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. The show follows a group of singles as they cruise the Mediterranean in luxury courtesy of Princess Cruises. Like the original series, there’s the crew, including the “captain” (Paolo Arrigo) and a “cruise director” (Matt Mitcham) who will play pivotal roles in the matchmaking and navigation process as contestants sail in the waters ahead. The series is hosted by real-life married couple Rebecca Romijn and Jerry O’Connell. Ahead of the show’s launch, stars from “The Young and the Restless” sat down to share dating advice. Here’s what some of them had to say. Conner Floyd (Chance Chancellor): “Just be a gentleman. Everyone loves a gentleman. Be nice. Do the right thing.” Camryn Grimes (Mariah Copeland): “Don’t ignore red flags. Be on the lookout for those guys; they’re everywhere. Brytni Sarpy (Elena Dawson): “Be content with yourself. Be content with being alone so that anyone that you add to your life is a supplement and adds value but does not make your life.” Micheal Mealor (Kyle Abbott): “You need a good pickup line. You need a good sense of humor, and you need to put down the phone.” Cait Fairbanks (Tessa Porter): “Just be around someone you really enjoy. That’s the most important part about being in a relationship, is being with someone that you have fun with.” Christian Le Blanc (Michael Baldwin): “Don’t say a word ’cause you can tank it. Just stand there and look mysterious … in your speedo. Kind of with a lot of lotion.” Allison Lanier (Summer Newman): “The first thing that came to mind was be yourself [laughs], but really, just be yourself [laughs again]. Rory Gibson (Noah Newman): “Be mysterious. Kind of… not reserved, but quiet. Keep some mystery alive. It keeps the attention flowing, and listen.” Kelsey Wang (Allie Nguyen): “Be able to communicate with each other and be really direct if you guys have a conflict, being able to talk it out and also having faith in your partner.” Sean Dominic (Nate Hastings): “Be wary of anyone who is trying too hard [eye curls].” Tracey Bergman (Lauren Fenmore Baldwin): “Don’t do anything I’ve done. That’s the best advice I could give you.” “The Young and the Restless” airs Weekdays on CBS, Anytime on Paramount+. 15. Correct. I’ll make light of that next time. Thanks for the reminder. LMAO. For a second I thought I used the wrong photo or wrote the wrong words. Haha. Wendy had a 0.8 Household rating last year. So “Sherri” is mostly on par.
  16. As has become a tradition, an upcoming episode of “The Bold and the Beautiful” will feature stars from the most recent season of “Big Brother.” In a video posted on the show’s social handles earlier today, “Big Brother” winner Taylor Hale can be seen standing center to houseguests Joesph Abdin and Monte Taylor outside the soap opera’s soundstage as they discuss their upcoming appearance on the soap. “You won’t believe where we are,” teases Hale at the start of the video. “We’re at ‘B&B’! Not ‘Big Brother’ … ‘The Bold and the Beautiful,’ and we’re so excited to be here filming a really awesome episode to show you all. We can’t tell you when it’s airing but stay tuned!” In winning her season of “Big Brother,” the show’s 24th overall, Hale was part of “The Leftovers” alliance and won Head of Household two times (weeks 6 and 11). Overall, she spent 82 days in the Big Brother house and is the first Black woman to win a civilian season of the U.S. version of the reality franchise. In terms of “Big Brother” history, Tamar Braxton was the first Black woman to win a season of the game, albeit the celebrity edition. Check out a clip of them teasing their upcoming appearance below. 17. “Big Brother” alum and “Tainted Dreams” star Jessie Godderz has been tapped to host “Whacked Out,” a brand-new series in development from the creators of “Whacked Out Sports,” which is being earmarked for an early 2023 release. ”Whacked Out” (Poster) Courtesy of Whacked Out TV, LLC Whacked Out TV, LLC has partnered with production and distribution company Stream Go Media on the new project to bring back the concept of a show featuring professional and amateur clips highlighted by sports-related mishaps, crashes and bloopers. In a statement, Godderz tells Soap Opera Network, ‘Whacked Out Sports’ is one of the most popular and well-known franchises in TV history and I’m incredibly honored and excited to join this legendary brand as the host of their brand new series.” He adds, “We will be bringing laughter and joy to a whole new generation of fans and I cannot wait to get started. ‘Whacked Out’ is now truly PEC-Tacular.” Joining Godderz as correspondents will be viral sketch comedian Ryan Decker and famed stuntman Jason Gupton. Together, they will showcase stunts, sketch comedy, amateur action sports, fail videos, and viewer-submitted actors of “Whacked Out” craziness. The syndicated wrestling series is available on the following networks and digital platforms: YTA, Next Level Sports, Game+, The Action Channel, Astound TV Network and FITE TV. That same year, he also appeared in the premiere episode of FX’s “Snowfall.” From 2014-2017, he starred as Dylan Buckwald in “Tainted Dreams,” a web series created by Daytime Emmy Award-winning director Sonia Blangiardo Goins (“Days of our Lives”). 18. Note: A post in this thread was deleted because it referenced a person who is not to be discussed on this forum, ever. Person is the Voldemort of SON and is oft referred to as “She who shall not be named.” Now, I won’t go into details of who that is, or why this is, but there is a long history behind it and it’s best we keep them from being referenced on this forum. It’s nothing personal against them. There’s no beef. It’s just best for all. Thank you.
  19. Two weeks into their debut seasons, both “Sherri” and “The Jennifer Hudson Show” are off to solid starts in daytime syndication among talk shows, reports Next TV and TV News Check. During the week of September 19-23, 2022, the most current week available for daytime TV syndicated ratings, “Sherri” averaged a 0.7 rating in Households while “JHud” averaged a 0.6 rating. Compared to their debuts one week earlier, “Sherri” is flat while “JHud” is slightly down (0.6 vs. 0.7 rating). The latter series was up substantially from the year ago performance of “Nick Cannon” which it mainly replaced on stations across the U.S. (0.6 rating vs. 0.4 rating). “Nick Cannon” was canceled after just a few months on the air. “Live with Kelly and Ryan” remained the highest rated syndicated daytime talk show among both Households (1.5 rating) and Women 25-54 (0.6 rating), averaging 2.200 million viewers, to score its most-watched week in four months (since week of May 23, 2022). In fact, the daily series delivered the largest weekly growth of any daytime talk show – network or syndicated – in Total Viewers (+13%; 2.200 million vs. 1.941 million) and was the only daytime talk show to post week-to-week gains across all key Nielsen categories (Households, Total Viewers and Women 25-54 rating). The show has now ranked as the highest-rated daytime talk show among Women 25-54 rating for the 37th week in a row, including 15 weeks of ties. “Dr. Phil” remained second among Households (1.4 rating), Total Viewers (2.017 million) and Women 25-54 (0.4 rating). Rounding out the top three in Women 25-54 was a five way tie between “Kelly Clarkson,” “Tamron Hall,” “Drew Barrymore” “Steve Wilkos” and “Sherri,” each with a 0.3 rating in the key women sales demo. 20. While there are many factors that could have contributed, none of them have solid stats to support them. With that said, Peacock previously attributed its gains in subscribers this time last year and in Q1 to sports, specifically “Sunday Night Football,” the Olympics and “Bel-Air.” Q2 was stagnant because they had nothing to offer while Q3 had the movies “Minions,” “Jurassic World: Dominion,” “Days of our Lives” move, next day airings of NBC/Bravo shows (after deal at Hulu ended) and a huge discount of $1.99 a month or $19.99 for a year. I personally do not think you can grant a two million subscriber gain on a soap opera, especially when Peacock didn’t mention it once in any press release or announcement citing the increase in subs.
  21. Since “NBC News Daily” (1.312 million) replaced “Days of our Lives” on NBC three weeks ago, the news program has gone from a significant sore spot on the network’s lineup with just 935,000 viewers in week one to a potential winner in week two after tying both “GMA3: What You Need to Know” (1.595 million) and “The Talk” (1.358 million) in the all-important key women sales demos. Now in week three, the new series not only continues to tie its ABC and CBS competitors in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, but the show is now less than 50,000 viewers away from topping “The Talk” in Total Viewers. For the week of September 26-30, 2022, just 46,000 viewers separated “The Talk” and “NBC News Daily.” Week to week, the program gained +191,000 viewers, the largest weekly gain for any daytime broadcast series. In just three weeks, “NBC News Daily” has dropped the viewership gap between the two shows from +419,000 to just +46,000. Last week the gap was significantly higher with the CBS talk show leading the NBC news show by a much healthier +263,000 viewers. In Women 18-49 viewers, “NBC News Daily” beat “The Talk” by +15,000 viewers (126,000 vs. 111,000) while in Women 25-54 viewers “NBC News Daily” led “The Talk” by +1,000 viewers (179,000 vs. 178,000). In positive news for “GMA3,” the ABC news program was the only broadcast series up year to year in Total Viewers, gaining +80,000 viewers over the year ago period. The show is also up from its performance during the same period in 2020. “GMA3” leads both “NBC News Daily” and “The Talk” by significant margins in both Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 viewers. “General Hospital” (2.191 million) was not only the top ABC series in Total Viewers and demos but also showed significant gains over its comparable 2020 performance when a rained-out baseball game forced the network to air an all-new episode of the soap opera. Despite launching their latest seasons on CBS, “The Young and the Restless” (3.169 million) and “The Bold and the Beautiful” (2.801 million) lost the most viewers overall week to week, with the former down -131,000 viewers. In the demos, both soaps were tied for second place with the first half-hour of “The Price is Right” (3.575 million) in Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 rating, each with a 0.3 and 0.6, respectively. The second half-hour of “The Price is Right” (4.102 million) retained its number one position in all categories. What follows is a breakdown of how the daytime broadcast shows performed during the week of September 26-30, 2022 in Women 18-49 rating, Women 25-54 rating, Households and Total Viewers, including a look at their comparable performance in 2021 and 2020, respectively. A closer look at the daytime soaps, including their daily performance in the demos, will be posted on Thursday. 22. The picture I was given to use for the article does NOT do him justice. This is who I hope to see on my screen later this month:
  23. It’s been 14 years since “Passions” concluded its run, and actor James Hyde (ex-Sam Bennett) is finally heading back to daytime TV. He’s been cast in the recurring role of Jeremy Stark on “The Young and the Restless” and will first air over multiple episodes beginning Friday, October 21. Hyde’s character is said to have shared a connection with Diane Jenkins (Susan Walters) during her time away from Genoa City, which will hopefully help fill in the gaps both Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) and Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) are seeking to get the goods on their nemesis/rival. Following the 2008 finale of “Passions,” Hyde has kept himself busy with guest appearances in several notable primetime shows such as “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” and the TV series iteration of “Rush Hour.” He more recently starred in the Netflix Mexican drama “Monarca,” which deals with a family’s tequila empire threatened by corruption and deadly secrets. Hyde played Martin Ross, the husband of Ana Mária Carranza Dávila (Irene Azuela), the only daughter of the powerful family. The series was canceled after just two seasons. Hyde has starred in two TV movies this year alone, including “Prisoner of Love” and “Love Under the Lemon Tree.” The former features his “Passions” co-star Lindsay Hartley (ex-Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald), who also directed the movie. In addition to his TV movies and “Y&R,” Hyde can also be seen playing a recurring role in the upcoming third season of the Telemundo series, “La Reina del Sur,” which premieres Tuesday, October 18, on the Spanish language network. The show stars Mexican superstar Kate del Castillo as she reprises her iconic role as Teresa Mendoza and takes place four years after U.S. authorities convicted Teresa for the murders of three Drug Enforcement Agents. Separated from her beloved daughter Sofia (Isabella Sierra), Teresa lives behind bars in a maximum-security prison, stripped of all freedoms. Devising a highly sophisticated escape plan, Teresa’s old friends Oleg (Antonio Gil) and Jonathan (Tiago Correa) daringly extract her from prison to take her to Mexico, meeting President Epifanio Vargas (Humberto Zurita). In a world motivated by alliances and secret deals, Teresa agrees to embark on her most dangerous mission yet, taking her throughout Latin America with the urgent hope that she can end her fugitive’s life and reunite with Sofia at last. “La Reina del Sur (Key Art) Courtesy of Telemundo For five seasons, USA Network produced an English-language iteration entitled “Queen of the South,” which remains a massive acquired property for streaming service Netflix. 24. It’ll be two months since it was first announced that Emma Samms would be reprising her iconic role as Holly Sutton on “General Hospital” before we see the actress back on our screens. According to Soap Opera Digest, barring any last-minute preemptions, Samms will make her on-air return to the daytime drama series beginning Wednesday, October 19. Note: Game one of the Major League Baseball Wild Card Series on Friday, October 7 was already built into the schedule. No additional details about her return have been revealed, however, when the character was last seen in 2020, she was believed dead by Port Charles. Viewers would later see Holly very much alive and locked away in a cell in Monte Carlo where she’s been held captive by a mystery person. The storyline was to be picked up shortly after the reveal but Samms had contracted COVID, more specifically long COVID, which the CDC defines as people who have been infected with the virus that causes COVID-19 who “experience long-term effects from their infection, known as post-COVID conditions (PCC)” or long COVID. The website notes that post-COVID conditions include “a wide range of ongoing health problems; these conditions can last weeks, months, or years.” “I have been in the grip of Long COVID, having contracted Coronavirus in March 2020. I’m immensely grateful to [Executive] Producer Frank Valentini and the writers for their understanding and willingness to accommodate my ongoing health issues. I can’t wait to get back to Port Charles!” said Samms in August of her return. In addition to her role on “GH,” Samms also starred as Fallon Carrington Colby in “Dynasty” and its spinoff series “The Colbys.” She later reprised the role in “Dynasty: The Reunion.” Her post-‘Dynasty’ work has been extensive, concentrating on feature films and TV movies, including starring roles in “Delirious,” opposite John Candy, and in “The Marksman,” opposite Wesley Snipes. More recently, Samms returned to her recurring role in the popular BBC television drama, “Doctors.” In October 2021, Samms married former BBC News presenter Simon McCoy.
