ARTICLE: Lisa Rinna Exits ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ After Eight Seasons
Lisa Rinna (“Days of our Lives,” “Melrose Place”) is concluding her eight-season run on “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” PEOPLE magazine is reporting. She first joined the reality series in 2014 during the show’s fifth season. In a statement released to PEOPLE, Rinna says, “This is the longest job I have held in my 35-year career and I am grateful to everyone at Bravo and all those involved in the series.” She added, “It has been a fun eight-year run and I am excited for what is to come!” A representative for Rinna notes that after her contract expired at the end of the show’s 12th season, she began “weighing her options and business obligations,” and both Rinna and the NBCUniversal-owned network “mutually decided that she would not return” when the show starts shooting season 13 in the coming weeks. Reportedly, during the most recent BravoCon event, Rinna was greeted with boos from audience members and she flipped them off in response. These acts allegedly stem from an on-air/off-air dispute with co-star Kathy Hilton during filming. Rinna appeared as a presenter at “The 48th Annual People’s Choice Awards” alongside her “Real Housewives” co-stars on December 6, 2022. Just as Y&R ignores the day ahead in terms of air dates, American TV networks ignore international markets in terms of historical milestones. Example: GOAT ignores a BAFTA, which is more prestigious than some of the awards that make up GOAT.

ARTICLE: Marcus Coloma Cites “Health Issues” for Why He Didn’t Tape Final Scenes as ‘General Hospital’s Nikolas Cassadine
When news first broke in early December that Marcus Coloma would be exiting the role of Nikolas Cassadine on “General Hospital,” it was reported the actor had been let go from the series and refused to tape his final scenes. Now, via a spokesperson, Coloma is setting the record straight, stating, “due to health issues with his recent Covid exposure, the network graciously agreed that he should not film the remaining few days of the year.” The statement was released to Deadline and further notes that the timing of Coloma’s upcoming departure from the soap happened to coincide with the actor concluding the requirements of his three-year contract with the soap opera. Coloma, who suddenly unfollowed all of his “General Hospital” cast mates on social media just before reports of his departure came to light, joined the cast of the drama series in 2019 and will last air in late January 2023, ABC confirmed to Soap Opera Network. “I was immediately taken with the family feel of the ensemble cast,” Coloma says in a statement reflecting on his time on the series. “I fell in love with the extremely passionate fanbase. GH: actor already gone (character from major fam)
He said in that post he got Covid in October. He returned on-screen a week after that article was published. His final scenes would have been taped this month. Per the statement, he had “health issues with his recent Covid exposure,” so it sounds like there were contined issues from when he last got it, which IMO, coincides with the SOD matter.

ARTICLE: Sarah Joy Brown to Appear as First Guest of 2023 on ‘State of Mind with Maurice Benard’
“General Hospital” star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) will welcome actress Sarah Joy Brown as his first guest of 2023 for his podcast series “State of Mind with Maurice Benard.” The episode will be released Sunday, January 1 on the show’s YouTube channel. “I’m excited to see it, thank you for talking with me,” stated Brown in response to a tweet by Benard in which he informed her that he just finished editing their episode together. Details of what the two discussed in the episode was unknown at press time. Appearing in numerous daytime dramas, including “As The World Turns,” “The Bold and the Beautiful” and “Days of our Lives,” Brown is probably best known for her three-time Daytime Emmy Award winning portrayal as Carly Corinthos on “General Hospital.” She originated the role in 1996 and remained part of the show’s cast until 2001. From 1999 until her departure, Brown worked alongside Benard as they helped create the supercouple known as “S&C” or “CarSon.” In 2007, Brown returned to “General Hospital” as a new character named Claudia Zacchara, a mob princess who also was romantically involved with Benard’s Sonny character. Outside of daytime soaps, Brown has also starred in such shows as “V.R. Troopers,” “Cold Case,” “Beacon Hills,” and more recently, “Studio City,” among others. “State of Mind with Maurice Benard” is the only podcast series where fans can watch their favorite daytime stars, past and present, discuss important issues, particularly relating to mental health. As explained by Benard, “[‘State of Mind’] means being 100% present, feeling completely at peace inside of you, not letting your thoughts control your life and always looking for ways to be the best that you can be.” On Sunday, January 8, Benard’s much anticipated discussion with co-stars Cameron Mathison (Drew), Laura Wright (Carly) and Dominic Zamprogna (Dante) from the iconic Graceland is set to air. The episode, which is being released in honor of Elvis Presley’s birthday, was taped in late October when the show brought cast members back to Memphis for the first time since pre-pandemic. The episode will also include a surprise guest who will leave Benard speechless. To watch “State of Mind with Maurice Benard,” and to like and subscribe to the channel, click here. ARTICLE: ‘Pride: The Series’ Creator Dorell Anthony Joins ‘Days of our Lives’ Writing Team
As previously reported, John Aniston’s final appearance as the iconic Victor Kiriakis on “Days of our Lives” aired Monday, December 26. In addition to marking an historic moment for fans of the daytime drama series, the episode also marked a new beginning for “Pride: The Series” creator Dorell Anthony who unknowingly wrote the late actor’s final words as the episode’s script writer, his first since joining the show’s writing team earlier this year. “My very first episode with ‘Days of our Lives’ was also John Aniston’s final episode,” Anthony said in a recent interview with The Palestine Herald, a Texas based publication covering Palestine County and Herald County. “To write for such an iconic actor and character was such an honor, and it’s an experience no one can ever take away from me.” Aniston died November 11, 2022. The episode was taped in June. Courtesy of Peacock “The show films six months in advance, so my episodes were shot in June, July and August, but won’t air until December, January and February,” Anthony noted of the show’s shooting schedule. “It’s a long wait, and I’m not allowed to say certain things, but it is so fun when it finally airs.” DORELL ANTHONY Courtesy Photo Prior to writing for Peacock’s only scripted daily serial, Anthony, an East Texas native who has an associate’s degree in Theater from Tyler Junior College and graduated from Texas State University with a bachelor’s degree in Performance and Production, made a name for himself when he appeared in the online reboot of “All My Children.” Later, he created, starred in and executive produced the digital drama “Pride: The Series” which follows a group of friends who navigate life through personal complexities and endeavors as they discover who they are, what they want and what they are willing to do to get their heart’s desire. Throughout, viewers are provided with an up close and personal experience from the perspective of a diverse cast of characters led by Kai, Trina, Travis and Adam (Anthony, and actors Ashley Mitchell, Braden Bradley, and Adam Andrew Rios). Beyond “Pride,” Anthony would go on to make appearances on CBS’ “Blue Bloods,” digital drama “Asunder: The Series,” audio drama “Forever and a Day” and “General Hospital,” which Anthony credits for much of his success. “I owe much of it to [‘General Hospital’ executive producer] Frank Valentini,” Anthony shares. “He encouraged me to go to ‘DAYS’ and now I have several episodes that will air in the coming season.” Courtesy of Peacock “Days of our Lives” releases all-new episodes weekdays at 6:00 a.m. ET, exclusively on Peacock. Fans can watch at their convenience via a premium or higher subscription. The show is executive produced by Ken Corday and co-executive produced by Albert Alarr. Ron Carlivati is the head writer. ARTICLE: How ‘Days of our Lives’ Will Honor John Aniston During His Final Episode (PHOTOS)
The Monday, December 26 episode of “Days of our Lives” will mark the final appearance of the late John Aniston as Victor Kiriakis. The beloved actor, who had played the character on the series since 1985, most recently appeared in the Friday, November 11 episode, the same day he passed away in real life. He was 89 years old. In light of the historic episode, fans of the Peacock original series are advised to check out the show’s official YouTube page and its social channels for special messages from Aniston’s castmates as they honor his memory and legacy. Aniston’s final episode will also include a special tribute to the legendary actor. Winning the Lifetime Achievement Award during this year’s telecast of “The 49th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards,” Aniston joined the cast of “Days of our Lives” in 1985, playing mogul Victor Kiriakis. I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain. And on 11/11 no less! You always had perfect timing. That number will forever hold an even greater meaning for me now I’ll love you till the end of time.” Aniston’s comments on that date is a reference to the United States celebrating Veterans Day, particularly as her father had worked as an intelligence officer for the United States Navy after graduating from college. ARTICLE: RUMOR REPORT: Which Performer is Causing a “Tense Situation” on Set?
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe, which soap star terrorizes their soap’s cast and crew? Who tested positive for COVID and their show kept it a secret? Which diva is threatened by a rising new hire? And which two familiar faces will be on this soap soon? These items and more are highlighted in the latest issue of Soap Opera Digest (January 2, 2023), on newsstands now, in the magazine’s “Stuff We Know (and shouldn’t tell you)” section which has always been a fascinating read, and that’s why we like discussing it with you. After all, it’s no fun to be told something in print and not have anyone to talk about it with! Although the blind items aren’t likely to be answered by the magazine anytime soon, and we’re sure none of the people in items 1-4 will fess up to anything, why not take a gander at who/what these are all about? Courtesy of a360media BLIND ITEMS: Regarding the performer terrorizing the show’s cast/crew, including “unleashing their fury on producers, directors, and other crew,” the magazine notes, “Staff does their best to avoid contact, but co-stars and key departments are forced to smile and play nice to not upset production. It’s a tense situation.” With COVID testing and positive outcomes becoming a regular part of our everyday lives, it’s a wonder why “This soap is keeping a lid on which cast member, who figures prominently in a current storyline, [that] tested positive for Covid and had to quarantine at home.” According to the magazine, “An actor declined to name his/her significant other, although that person’s identity is prominently displayed on social media.” The answer is maybe too evident if you ask us. A leading lady on her soap is threatened by the “rising storyline prominence of a more recent hire.” Meanwhile, two familiar faces will be “on this soap in the coming weeks.” To subscribe to Soap Opera Digest‘s print edition, click here.
