ARTICLE: Fan Favorites Return for the Holidays on ‘Days of our Lives’
Christmas is a time for joy and togetherness, and “Days of our Lives” is bringing all the holiday cheer with the returns of several fan favorites on tap. On the Thursday, December 22 episode of the soap, Kyle Lowder was back in Salem as Rex surprised Kate (Lauren Koslow). Meanwhile, the Friday, December 23 episode is jam-packed with returns, including Lamon Archey as Eli, Cady McClain as Jennifer and even Marci Miller as Abby. First up: Chad (Billy Flynn) meets up with Jennifer at Abigail’s grave as they reflect on memories of their loved one. “They’re still grieving in different ways, but they’re at a place now of more acceptance,” says Flynn in the December 26, 2022 issue of Soap Opera Digest, on newsstands now. “They’re able to reflect on and understand what Abigail’s life was, who she was and how she served everybody. Chad feels like he has to gather a bit of strength and be there for Abigail’s mother. He is comforting Jennifer.” Later in the episode, as everyone gathers around to hang up ornaments on the Horton tree, Chad imagines Abigail and they talk about how he is going to make Christmas okay for their kids as they celebrate their first holiday without their mother. “It’s very sweet,” teases Flynn of the husband and wife conversation. “I kind of viewed it as the audience getting a glimpse into the relationship that Chad and Abigail have now.” Elsewhere, while he’s currently moonlighting as Principal Carter on The CW’s “All American,” Lamon Archey is once again back in Salem when Eli pays a visit to grandma Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) with the twins in toe. “It has been a while since Eli had seen his family and vice versa,” the actor tells Soap Opera Digest. “It is a good time to get everyone together, and what better time to do it than Christmas?” Catching up with his former co-stars was a great experience, Archey notes, specifically when he caught up with Susan and her husband Bill Hayes. “I hadn’t seen them since I left. I think I maybe emailed them once or twice during the time I was gone. It was really good seeing them and the other faces I hadn’t seen in a while. It was really good reconnecting with my co-workers.” As for what fans can expect to learn from Eli considering Lani (Sal Stowers) is unable to bask in the cheer considering she’s currently in prison, Archey says, “I believe Eli says she’s doing the best she can under the circumstances. She’s pulling through, but definitely misses being with her family, especially during the holidays.” Although Archey’s latest return is a short one, don’t be surprised to see him pop up again sometime in the near future. “I talked to Albert [Alarr, co-executive producer] before I left,” he notes. “He had asked me if I wanted to come back and do some more episodes. I said we can definitely talk and figure it out. Recently, they did reach out to me and asked if I’d stop by again and help with some stories they have going on. So, of course, I’m down to pop in and lend a helping hand.” Outside of “All American,” Archey can next be seen in the TV movie “Love Me to Death” which also stars actors Brian White, Pamela Jones and Tisha Campbell, among others. A release date has not been announced. Watch the show’s holiday promo below. “Days of our Lives” airs weekdays, exclusively on Peacock. Difficulty opening up Real Housewives thread
There was a kink in the system when we kept trying to update the server to PHP 8.0. The then current software version of the message boards worked for the most part but certain links came back as broken according to web browsers. We had to revert back to an older, but no longer supported version of PHP to rectify the issue. However, this prevented us from upgrading to the now current software version. After ensuring a secure backup was available and with additional support from our hosting team, we were able to upgrade to to latest software version this morning. Things now seem to be working correctly, particularly the Real Housewives thread which had been one of the bigger threads impacted by the aforementioned software issues. Let me know if you find any more kinks.

ARTICLE: Tamara Braun Concludes ‘Days of our Lives’ Run
With her character being sent away to Bayview Sanitarium following her recent dirty deeds, including attempted murder and planting a bomb at Susan’s memorial service, Tamara Braun’s run as Ava Vitali on “Days of our Lives” has come to an end. The actress last appeared on the Tuesday, December 20 episode of the Peacock series. On Instagram, Braun shared numerous behind the scenes photos from her final taping day on set, captioning the post, saying, “ Hey all you Days fans!! If you want to see Ava off, tune into DOOL today for her last day in Salem.” She added, “Thanks for all the love and support you continue to show me. I will miss you all!!” She concluded her post by informing fans that she’ll still be accessible via the social media platform. Braun first joined the “Days of our Lives” cast in 2008 as Ava before later moving on to take on the role of Reese Williams on “All My Children” that same year. She returned to “DAYS” in 2011, this time playing a recast Taylor Walker. She again reprised the Ava role from 2015-2016; and finally in 2020 before wrapping her run with today’s episode. Braun made her daytime debut in 2001, taking over the role of Carly Corinthos on “General Hospital.” She returned to “GH” in 2017 when she took on the newly created role of Kim Nero. Departing in 2019, Braun won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal in 2020. ARTICLE: Netflix Cancels ‘Blockbuster’ After One Season
Failing to ever crack Netflix’s coveted Top 10 list since its premiere in early November, the streaming service has decided not to pursue a second season of “Blockbuster,” a scripted take on the working life of employees operating the last Blockbuster Video in America. The series starred Randall Park (“Fresh Off the Boat”) and Melissa Fumero (“One Life to Live,” “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”). According to a logline for the series, “Timmy Yoon (Park) is an analog dreamer living in a 5G world. And after learning he is operating the last Blockbuster Video in America, Timmy and his staff, including his long-time crush, Eliza (Fumero), fight to stay relevant. The only way to succeed is to remind their community that they provide something big corporations can’t: human connection.” “Blockbuster” landing on Netflix came with a bit of irony as the streamer played a vital role in the demise of the once iconic brand when it built its customer base by mailing DVDs directly to members, cutting out the need for visiting the local video store. Produced by Universal Television, the 10-episode series was co-created by Vanessa Ramos who also served as executive producer and showrunner. Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, JB Smoove and Kamaia Fairburn also star. Check out the official trailer below. Anthony Morina’s time as co-executive producer at “The Young and the Restless” has concluded after nearly four years on the job, reports Daytime Confidential. According to the outlet, Morina was let go and will not be replaced. Josh Griffith, who had been co-EP alongside Morina, will now take over as sole showrunner and remains the show’s head writer. The husband of former “Y&R” head writer Sally Sussman, Morina and Griffith were named co-EPs of the daytime drama series in December 2018 following the exit of British producer Mal Young. ARTICLE: Michael Blake Kruse Concludes Run on ‘General Hospital’
With his character becoming the latest victim of “The Hook,” actor Michael Blake Kruse has wrapped his run as Officer Rory Cabrera on “General Hospital.” In a statement on social media, Kruse said of his role, “I enjoyed playing the character and valued his essence. Yes, he was unsophisticated and naive but at least he was genuine.” He added, “Rory was a mediocre cop, at best, but Port Charles isn’t the easiest town to police. He was also equipped with a holster from the 70’s, no radio, and no bullet proof vest.” As for his experience working on the show, Kruse noted, “Above all, I had the pleasure of working with some incredible people and have a newfound respect for everyone involved with daytime TV. It’s easy to critique but not easy to create.” Despite her passion for Spencer (Nicholas Alexander Chavez), Rory would go on to become Trina’s (Tabyana Ali) love interest, which put a dent in the Sprina reunion fans had been clamoring for. Kruse acknowledged the Sprina fanbase, saying, “[Rory] was always sincere and had her best interests at heart. That has to count for something Sprina fans.” Before joining “General Hospital,” Kruse had guest starring roles on such shows as “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Criminal Minds” and Strange Angel,” among others. He’s also had a supporting role in several Lifetime movies, including “Dead in the Water,” “The Ugly Christmas Sweater” and “Christmas Harmony.” As a model, he’s appeared in several commercial and print spots for Lexus, Amazon, Sony Playstation, McDonald’s and EA Sports, among many other brands. Depending on the hearing’s length and follow-up coverage by news personalities, “The Bold and the Beautiful,” “General Hospital,” “GMA3: What You Need to Know” and “The Talk” are all likely to be preempted. “The Young and the Restless” will air an all-new episode for its first half-hour before the network transitions to a CBS News Special Report at 1:00 p.m. ET, anchored by “CBS Evening News” anchor and managing editor Norah O’Donnell. “Days of our Lives” will not be impacted as the series airs exclusively on Peacock, which, as a streaming service, does not preempt programming. The final findings from the report are expected to be released two days later, on Wednesday, December 21. According to multiple outlets, the Committee plans to announce criminal referrals to the Department of Justice against former President Donald J. Trump, including insurrection, obstruction of an official proceeding and conspiracy to defraud the federal government. Coverage of the meeting begins at 1:00 p.m., ET across broadcast and the cable news networks, C-SPAN, PBS and YouTube, among others. According to CBS, its coverage will find O’Donnell in-studio as she is joined by chief political analyst and senior national correspondent John Dickerson, chief election and campaign correspondent Robert Costa, chief Washington correspondent Major Garrett, chief national affairs and justice correspondent Jeff Pegues and congressional correspondent Scott MacFarlane. CBS News congressional correspondent Nikole Killion will report live from Capitol Hill. Coverage of the meeting will air on the CBS Television Network and be available to stream on all CBS News platforms, including the CBS News app for mobile and connected TV. Viewers can also watch CBS News’ live coverage on CBSNews.com and the Network’s YouTube channel. The CBS News Streaming Network will begin coverage at 12:00 p.m., ET. with live reports from Washington, D.C. Uninterrupted coverage will be available at CBSNews.com/hearings. You can watch the last public meeting, held on October 13, 2022, below. ARTICLE: Josh Swickard Announces Sex of Baby #2
As previously reported, “General Hospital” star Josh Swickard (Chase) and his wife Lauren are expecting their second child. In a recent post on Instagram, the couple announced the sex of the baby following a gathering of friends and family for Lauren’s baby shower. “ITS A BOYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!” captioned Swickard alongside a photo of the pair standing next to a chalkboard sign that read “Welcome to Lauren’s Baby Shower.” Lauren is shown holding a blue iced cupcake while cupping her grown belly. The proud dad stands beside her with nothing but a smile. In October, the couple shared their baby news for the first time in a joint Instagram post, saying, “WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER BABY!!!!!! Feeling so grateful to be on this journey again.” They included the hashtag “2under2,” referencing the couple having their second child in under two years. Last year, they welcomed a baby girl named Savannah Kaye Swickard. Courtesy of HBO Max Outside of parenthood and “General Hospital,” Josh can be seen in “A Hollywood Christmas,” currently available to stream on HBO Max. Described as a “clever movie-within-a-movie twist,” the romantic comedy stars Jessika Van as Jessica, a director of Christmas movies who finds herself living her own holiday story when she meets Christopher, a handsome network executive who shows up threatening to halt production on her latest movie. When Jessica’s assistant, Reena (Anissa Borrego), points out the irony: Jessica isn’t just trying to save her Christmas movie, she’s actually living in one! Jessica must now juggle all the classic tropes—actors falling in and out of love, a wayward elf dog, and her own stirring romantic feelings for her perceived nemesis—in order to get her movie and her life to their happy endings. The film also stars Riley Dandy, Zak Steiner, Tom Williamson and Missi Pyle. Watch the trailer below.
