Exactly. The hospital vs. the cops is one thing, but putting Sonny into it is ridiculous. But it goes back to Frank and his regime being fundamentally uncomfortable with this kind of mob stuff (which would be a good thing, If not for how they mishandle it onscreen) and with Sonny not just being another beloved vet patriarch. Guza would be turning over in his grave if he were dead lol.

Y&R: August 2026 Previews & Spoilers

I have not been following the Billy storylines. I used to love Billy Abbott many years ago, but I just cannot endure him, not even reading him in recaps. He's just too depressing. I gather there's something he thinks about Jill and some secret? If that's more Griffith nonsense, I hope it ends soon and that the new writers revitalize Billy.

Y&R: August 2026 Previews & Spoilers

Forgot to mention this part from the day-ahead reacaps:

Jack and Diane talking -- Jack learns from a phonecall that Dr. Markham has been found and arrested without incident. Patty has been transferred to a maximum-security psychiatric ward awaiting trial. Jack basically says he feels that everything has been resolved and they can finally rest easy.

So that's another storyline wrapped up and done, offscreen. Lots of stuff wrapping up and/or transitioning in this episode and in the preview video:
Mariah's mental health: She's now onscreen, cured, home, and reunited with her offscreen wife and daughter.
Victor/Nikki reconciled and remarrying.
Diane's kidnapper Dr. Markham arrested offscreen.
Patty Williams offscreen transferred to maximum-security psych ward awaiting trial.
Jack somewhat agrees to letting go of Victor/Jack rivalry.
Victor/Nikki agreeing to turn stuff over to the younger set.
Victoria/Kyle spearheading the businesses and the rivalry now.
Noah/Sienna leaving Genoa City (supposedly temporarily but likely longer).
Danny Romalotti hinting that he could settle down with Cricket in Genoa City and will now (temporarily) run Noah's Shadow Room nightclub as a host to guest rockstar performers.
Also, from July 29 CDN (July 30 USA): Abby and Devon growing apart, Devon reassessing himself, and Daniel asking Abby out on a date.

I'm curious about the spoiler for the end of the week "Victoria and Adam work together to help Nick."

I'd hoped the Matt Clark exit would be coming soon, but I see from the photos that Matt and Cane have upcoming scenes together, so I don't know how long the Matt Clark thing will last. As I said abovethread, I hope Mariah is unperturbed by Matt and that she plots his downfall. Oh and even better if Mariah and Sharon work together to do that.
Nick's addiction recovery would take time.

(I don't know if Phyllis can be fixed.)

2000 Malibu Road Trivia: The creator of the show (Terry Louise Fisher) co-created LA Law, created Hooperman, and also was the creator/writer of the 1st pilot Marcy Walker did while on Santa Barbara (not the one that got picked up). She also wrote several episodes of Cagney and Lacey and even wrote a few of the reunion Tv movies of the series.
There are numerous theories on why it didn't continue beyond the six episodes that were originally picked up. One was that the contracts for all the main players had expired and so when the show did decently well, it would have cost a lot more to do new deals. Another was that CBS and Aaron Spelling couldn't agree on the licensing fees.
I know that Drew Barrymore was hesitant to do the tv show because this was during the time where Tv and movies were separate career tracks and she thought doing tv would have affected her chances at reviving a movie career (but I think this show actually did raise her profile because she was playing an adult instead of a teen). She most likely wouldn't have wanted to stay for several seasons had the show continued.
And Lisa Hartman Black had mailed the previous year and wanted to take time off of working in order to be with her new husband while on tour.. and the moment she got the script for the show.. she felt conflicted and he encouraged her to go for it so she didn't have that 'what if'. So I'm curious if she would have been in for the long haul had the show continued.
It was a strong six episode limited series that still could have continued had everything worked out.
The other attempt that CBS did for a primetime soap after Knots Landing ended (and I think was even in that time slot) was Angel Falls, created by Joyce Eliason (a huge writer of a lot of tv movies and mini series in the 80s/90s). It had a large cast of characters with a lot of different avenues to go and also ended with a cliffhanger.
