Members LookingGlass
With Barr they are phasing her out so they can dump her in December. I believe they had the option last year to not pick up her contract for a third year but (surprisingly) they did. I guess since Brooke actually had story last year they were concerned about backlash, but by this December the hope is nobody will really care....or notice. Members Steve
I couldn't disagree more about Walt's screentime. He's barely on once a week, if that. Erica's entire storyline about Josh has not involved Jackson. She's spending most of her time talking to Jeff. On the flip side, has Jack even told Erica that Jonathan is faking his condition? And when was the last time Jack & Erica had a love scene? I'm sure that fact that Walt has an autistic child plays into his frustration. The writers have made Lily a petulant 2-year-old who wants to stay married to a murderer and trusts him more than her own father. Walt probably wished they had written a realistic first love story for Lily with a boy like Sam instead of this crap. As for Walt's other onscreen kids, Reggie is never shown and before Greenlee left the writers glossed over all the anymosity between Greenlee & Erica, so Walt didn't get any good meaty material to play with her. He was just her sounding board. I also think Walt must hate how Jack keeps being written as the villian against the "heroic" Laverys. Jack used to be one of the heroes of the show, but now he's barely on and when he is, he's supposed to be in the wrong. It annoys me greatly so I can only imagine how disgusted Walt is. I wouldn't blame Walt for leaving if things don't change soon.
Members LookingGlass
Couldn't agree with you more. The seperate stories for Erica and Jack is so stupid. They may as well not even be married.
Members Casey
Steve, like most of the time...I agree with you. The only people on AMC that I would virtually roll my eyes at re: complaining are Alicia, Thorsten and Alexa.
Members Jackie
Actually, Walt's family lives in New Mexico, so it wouldn't be out of the question for him to go to a West Coast soap. I doubt they will let him out. And I think he will be happier once fall rolls around. LookingGlass - yes, the irony I was referring to was the fact that Walt has always been a huge AMC cheerleader and was especially enthused when Megan came back. The fact that things have gotten this bad for him is a testament to how awful shape the show is in. And keep on dreamin'. The day Susan Lucci leaves behind her legendary role for PASSIONS is the day James E. Reilly writes a decent storyline.
Members milwaukiechick
How ironically sad. One would think that when half the cast is looking for ways to jump ship, that changes need to be made. This show has really gone to hell, and I hope GL passes it in the ratings. Members juniorz1
It's beyond criminal- it's disgusting. Julia Barr is arguably (not with me you won't!) the most watchable actress on that show and she's ignored. I SWEAR to you I'd go back to AMC in a heartbeat if I heard any spoiler or any story on the canvas for BROOKE! The last time I was watching regularly was during Edmund's death, and it was because they made the story about Maria and Brooke. Hell, Eva LaRue did her best work since her return during that storyline, and during a shitty time in her life, when most actresses would phone it in. I swear Barr (and to a lesser degree Lucci) pulled that performance out of her and that entire story, as controversial as it was, was watchable because of the actresses featured, particularly Barr. I just don't get it. I'm the [!@#$%^&*] demographic they want & I watch their show for intelligent writing......and Brooke. I'll take either or and ABCD is giving me neither. Members bellcurve
Not doubting you at all Jackie, but I could totally see Frons/ABC wanting to get rid of as many older characters as possible and write them off as "budget cuts." I hope they can get the new writer in enough time to prevent him from jumping ship.
Members Jackie
Brian Frons and Walt are friends though. Have been since the 80s. Walt was on the backburner for years and when Frons came in, he returned to the forefront. And this was during the time when a whole bunch of young newbies were hired as well. Members LookingGlass
Good point. But I honestly wonder sometimes if Frons has any loyalties to anyone (especially those over 35) He and Hillary B. Smith are friends as well and that didn't do much for her. Members GaerielSky
Didn't help Marcy Walker either. I really hope your information is incorrect. I don't want Walt going!!!!
Members LookingGlass
Oh I don't think he'll go yet. But its the fact that he *is* looking that really says something. And again, he's not the only one. Forgot about Marcy and you're right Frons was a big fan, at least back in the day. I think he'll can anyone for the bottom line. Members Jack
And Jack would probably get killed off. That way Erica doesnt have divorce number 10 (or is it 9 since the one to Adam the first time never happened?), and that the Montgomery kids, sorry. KID Lilly can stick around and stay with Erica. Then we can get an overhyped Erica/Jeff wedding that will be very lackluster. Cant wait!!!
Members bellcurve
YUCK! I know we are supposed to separate reality from fiction, but everytime I see John James on any show, I just remember that he said in SOD that one of his favorite books was some trash by Michael Savage. Members Kylie
Ooo, I must be the only one who'd kill to see Susan play Jack's death, and Erica being a widow. She'd so rock it. Could get her the Emmy this Josh [!@#$%^&*] won't. I got nothing against Walt, but I'm not a Jack fan...if Walt can find work elswhere and Susan could get incredible material out of Jack's "death", I'd be more then happy to see him go. Though the thought of Jeff and Erica is vile, so ya...maybe I don't want Jack to die. Lord knows I'd be running from AMC, and not looking back. I was hoping it was Vincent Irizarry. What MMT has done to David in his Dixie mode, is sick. I wouldn't blame him for leaving, hell, I'd be celebrating.
