As the World Turns Recasts Craig

Actor Jeffrey Meek joins As the World Turns this fall as the new Craig Montgomery. Meek's soap credits include Search for Tomorrow, where he played Quinn McCleary from 1984 to 1986. He also did a few episodes of General Hospital as Reverend Thomas Dade in 2002.

Last played by Hunt Block, Craig went off to jail in August 2005. Loyal ATWT viewers can tell the CBS soap has been busy setting the stage for Craig's return. Frasier star Kelsey Grammer's kid, Spencer Grammer, recently joined the show as Craig's grown daughter, Dr. Lucy Montgomery. Plus, Jennifer (Jennifer Ferrin) is now dead, so a baby battle between Craig and her child's adoptive father, Dusty (Grayson McCouch) looks pretty inevitable.

My personal preference would naturally be that Scott Bryce, the original Craig, come back to Oakdale. He recently did a recurring stint as a psychotherapist on One Life to Live. However, Bryce's behind-the-scenes career in TV production precludes him from devoting himself to soap work on a full-time basis. So I'm willing to give Mr. Meek a shot.

NO. Hunt Block is Craig...that's all I am gonna say. This new guy...who I am looking for a picture of better...be charming...sexy and all the things Hunt Block brought to the role of Craig.

I *loved* Meek as Quinn McCleary on SFT! I'd always wondered why he hadn't done another soap (his other "McCleary Brothers" were Matthew Ashford as Cagney and David Forsythe as Hogan).

I am very pleased with this news. I am like Matt, I loved Meek on SFT. He was very sexy and had great chemistry at the time with the ladies on the show, esp. Lisa Peluso if my memory serves me correctly. I don't remember if a romance was ever fully pursued between the two, but they had chemistry.

I'll have trouble picturing him as Craig at first, but I loved him on Search for Tomorrow. I think this is a pretty good choice! When does he debut?

I think he is a great choice, and so much better than the other names I had heard.

I'm glad Craig is back on the canvas.

i read in SID that Hunt Block would never come back. Both sides are vehemently against it.

Hmm, so both Hunt and Scott left on fairly bad terms, which explains why they wouldn't be asked back.

I think the recast looks the part, and from the praise Matt and Steve are giving him, I'm willing to give him a shot. He's got big shoes to fill.

I'm always willing to give new actors a chance, so I hope the best for this re-cast. Unfortunately, I don't really care if Craig comes back. I pray that they don't overuse him like they did before. And frankly, I don't want to see either Dusty or Craig raise Johnny, so a custody battle might be boring...but I'd rather see Craig get custody just because I really do not like Dusty.

Because Matt is giving him high praise from SFT I will give him a chance, as I do with all new characters...and recast. ATWT has done okay the last few characters they have cast I think. I just think he looks...rough...you know. Not a man I would see Jennifer sleeping with you know.

That said and plus Ms. Walsh's banner....GOD I miss Jen.

I'm not a fan of Craig's much at all, so I'll dread his return no matter who is playing him. I'll give this guy a shot though. Hopefully Jean P isn't as horny over Craig as Hogan was.

I guess I'm in the minority when I say that Hunt Block is one the least attractive soap actors I have ever seen...he's an amazing actor though.

After Hogan left it took about five seconds to fire Hunt. Why? I don't know. Hogan loved him, others did not. Which is also why Cady McClain left because the two of them are a couple.

I will try him out and give him a chance. I have never seen him act before so hopefully it will be good. From what others are saying, it will be

I'm thinking that the show is going to make Craig kind of like the way he was when Scott played him, which is what I preferred. Hunt's version was good for a year or two, but the character became very cartoonish after a while.

Also, I agree with AMS that I'm not exactly thrilled that Craig is returning. I just didn't see it as necessary for him being in Oakdale, even when Lucy returned. But I'm willing to give the nuCraig a try. Hopefully, the writing will be a lot better for the character, and he won't be a total camera hog like he was during Hogan's tenure.

And Josh, ITA. I miss Jen already too. I still think ATWT made a big mistake killing her off. We'll have to see how the show manages now. Despite the great acting and storytelling that came out of her death, I think the show should have had her leave town and return with a recast, like they did before.

I loved Hunt Block as Craig and he is the only Craig I have never known. This guy looks nothing like him and from reading his Imdb profile...Mortal Kombat is one of his credentials...Come on! But I am not expecting much from a show that would cast a former power ranger.
