While I don't dispute that Stuart probably had tyrant tendencies, but I also think joining an ongoing soap as an EP has to be a walk in the park compared to joining a new soap and getting it off the ground. There is a lot more pressure and more details that need to be handled/created in that state so I could see him and others on edge because the ratings weren't strong and the stories/momentum was almost too slow moving for the early to mid 80s.
At the same time, actors are probably one of the most narcissistic groups of people that think they deserve more than they really do. The only performer that I thought on Loving that I thought had a legit beef was Noelle Beck and the request for her to get a nose job.. the other stories from the podcast was just wounded egos. Demanding a raise on a low rated new soap was kind of laughable to me since you need to bring in money in order to give raises... and you need to have a strong Q rating and/or be responsible for rises in ratings. A soap opera is still a business, and if the business isn't doing well.. no raises or bonuses.
In regards to Holly on OLTL, I think there are a lot of issues/layers in this situation. She was heavily focused on during her first five years of the soap.. but the combination of her and Ed marrying, Nixon stepping down as head-writer, the selling of the soap to ABC, and the departure of Quinlan as EP is what caused Carla to become supporting. Her character had her 'happy ending' and sadly on soaps... being happily married is almost a kiss of death for airtime and story... so she rightly went to them in the late 70s with a good story proposal and having the one actor that was cruelest to her be cast was a slap to the face and kind of due to Stuart..imho.
So both she on OLTL and Beck on Loving had legitimate issues with Stuart.
In regards to the Becky Lee bizarre character arc in 1996... when she came back for visits in '98 and '01... was mention made of that bizarre arc or was it swept under the carpet?
Borringo's Cassie fascinated me when watching the '91 episodes because she had a lot drive, fire, and could throw a one liner out at someone.. so it's interesting that by the time she marries Andrew in early 1993 that she becomes a goody goody unless it was due to trying to play a wife of a minister/preacher and it wasn't the real Cassie.
