So after a very bitter estrangement, Victor and Nikki are back together cause he let her stay at her house and guided her to the sofa.

So all the stuff she had issues with have magically disappeared.

But as usual she got some jewellery so there's that.

Nick is having bad dreams and drug cravings at the drug rehab facility.

Victor and Nikki reconcile and decide to take a romantic trip to Venice,
and to turn business affairs over to the younger set. They agree they are mellowing out but won't reveal that to anyone -- and will keep up the façade of the demeanor others expect them to have.

Kyle and Victoria discuss the fact that they will soon each be leading their families. They also discuss the endless revenge cycles between their families, which Kyle wants to continue.

Jack and Diane talk about the revenge cycle and Diane convinces Jack to let it go. Kyle finds them and says he wants to continue the revenge.

Mariah is back in Genoa City. She sees Sharon and Noah. Mariah says she was released from the mental health facility, that all her doctors signed off on her court-ordered release., and that she has already reunited with Tessa and Aria, (of course it all happened offscreen, but at least we get to see Mariah telling about it. LOL).

Noah announces that he and Sienna have decided to go back to L.A. for a while, in order to avoid being around Matt, and they won't return to Genoa City until Matt is gone. Noah says he intends to temporarily turn over running the Shadow Room to someone else.

During their own convo, Victor and Nikki agree they are grateful to Matt Clark.
Meanwhile Noah, Mariah, and Sharon agree that Matt is not to be trusted.

My thoughts on the above day-ahead recap and the weekly preview video:

All of that sounds (to me) like the show is doing a tone-shift, even though Griffith wrote it. I wonder if he was ordered to shift a direction? Or am I imagining things?
Maybe it's wishful thinking. We won't see the new writers' stuff for a few months, so maybe it's just me reading too much into it.

We've all been saying that the Victor/Jack stuff is tired, and now this is agreeing with that and shifting it to Victoria/Kyle.

The Mariah offscreen stuff is dumb. But it reads like she's left that insanity chapter behind her. So (maybe?) there's a change for her? I dunno.
The spoiler for the end of the week is Mariah meets Matt Clark.
I hope she destroys him, or gets him to leave town, or just erases him from the canvas. whatever. I do NOT want to see any more scared weepy fragile Mariah!

Danny Romalotti running a rock night club was not anything I expected. Assuming it's temporary, maybe it's a way to have him and Cricket be in Genoa City more. That one is puzzling to me. Wonder if Lauralee will do more with the show.

Judging from the 'fashions' on display here I think Ms Mandi Line should be shown the door.

Looks like they're recycling fabrics from the Abbott Funeral Parlor set.

And the men are dressed as bland as ever.

I really hope Sally is one of the characters that the new writers get rid of. I FF her and Billy’s scenes always.. just boring. I seriously thinking bringing back Mackenzie could be a good new direction for Billy.
