Overall, I love my show and recommited to it after the domino cancellations of 2009-2012, but this has been my problem with DAYS in the last decade+, in addition to the piss poor budget...
The enjoyment of the ride has greatly declined. Usually, when you have good well-planned storylines, we the audience anticipate the climax and denouement (when a couple reunites, a villain gets their comeuppance, etc.), but we enjoy the ride along the way: the build-ups, the misunderstandings, the false hope that today is THE day the truth finally comes out, etc.
These days, it seems we're just waiting for the story to conclude to get to the outcome. And mostly, the outcome is disappointing or the climax kind of fizzles. And unless it's storyline-based (i.e. Bonnie suddenly traumatized after being kidnapped by Xander in the shed; whatever her issue was), the aftermath, trauma, repercussions of the story arc is mostly glossed over and it's on to the next ho-hum chapter.
From the style of the writing, the cheeseball background music (DAYS' music catalog of the last 15+ years is the worst), the lack of budget to make things pop, so much of DAYS just comes off as background noise for the home/office.
