Ted talked about getting a new place and of course we have Leslie's gaudy new house in the works, so those are some potential sets to look forward to.

I knew someone backstage at Y&R in the early 2000s. The day the salad bar premiered, I emailed him and said, "Woops! I'm afraid y'all have messed-up badly with that salad bar. That thing is gonna haunt y'all for years to come." He said, "Don't worry, we already realize it. It was a mistake. It's being addressed." I pointed out, "If they suddenly take the salad bar down after making such a production out of installing it, it's gonna be accidentally comical." He said, "They're having meetings about how to best handle it." Wasn't long till Kevin Fisher locked Colleen Carlton in the freezer and set the restaurant on fire. Total loss. Action moved to the Athletic Club. 😅

They're CLEARLY having the same issue with Joey Armstrong's fireplace. The camera was BEHIND the thing for a while, with the flames in the foreground. Then the cameras were MOVED in front of the fireplace to capture the sofa without the flames. Then back again, with the flames in the shot. Then back again to the sofa. It requires time, money, and adjustments to the lighting each time they move those cameras within a set. That obviously ain't gonna be sustainable on a daily basis.

Ooooo that is tea!!

Chelsea & Madison are definitely not my favorite couple but they both looked beautiful and the hotel room set was lit beautifully.

Tamara Tunie is a force. She's absolutely incredible. Her and Clifton Davis were perfectly cast as Anita & Vernon.

I can't believe in a little over 2 weeks we'll be celebrating the one year anniversary. Such an accomplishment and I feel so proud being a fan.

I'm glad the subject of sets came up w/o me initiating it.

Joey's apartment was a total miss for me. It definitely looked like Andre's redressed which says to me we may not see it again.

Basically a space with no proper entrance, just doors , a sofa, an oddly placed table with 2 chairs and some random light fixtures as well as ugly decor eg the urn and the pedestal . It looked cheap and thrown together.

Overall the sets and set decor has been a mixed bag.

There are not enough sets for starters.

The country club and Orphey Gene's are fine. Same with Eva and Ashley's apartments as they are supposed to look basic. Martin/Smitty's place is fine. Uptown doesn't look upscale enough with the green walls and as for the airport terminal/mall coffee shop...

The casino back room is awful.

The Dupree house needs a study off the main room. Nicole got an office off her living room but the 'hero' set is confined to one room. And I'd love to know the purpose of that door to the right of the window-a closet?

And the floor plans don't make sense. Nicole's and Bill's living rooms have the entrance in the center with no front door, just a corridor and the fireplace to the left. Too similar.

Soap sets are usually by necessity quite cramped but clever designers have given the impression of more space by suggesting other rooms, creating specific areas etc

Hopefully there will be improvements.

For anyone to be complaining about sets on this soap, they should focus their attention on Days of Our Lives. Fully. This soap does not have a sets issue at the end of the day. Could there be improvements? Yes? Are they coming? Yes. But it's hardly as hard-pressing as people complain about ad nauseum.

We've complained plenty about the sets on DAYS. Most people have given up on those complaints because it's a broke ass show that's hopeless. I just wrote about their awful sets a couple days ago.

At the end of the day, some of us think BTG has a sets issue. @Paul Raven made a lot of great points, and I think it's crazy to pretend things are great when they aren't.

Gates is new, and more likely to make changes. I think some of us hope they're listening to viewers not only about story and characters, but about the look of the show.

The sets -- to me -- are an important element on a soap. They matter a great deal. I've posted about the sets on every single soap thread. I understand that YMMV and that you might disagree.

I don't see set improvements on BTG. That airport mall coffee shop is a disaster and Joey's place is so underwhelming it's ridiculous. I actually laughed at the fireplace location after I finished laughing at the Wayfair furniture. I also can think of a dozen sets needed more than a house for Joey.

So, yeah, the ad nauseum complaints will continue, just as, I expect, so will comments such as "The lighting is so glorious I felt like Jesus was glowing in the room! Oscars for everyone!" 😂

Thoughts:

  • So sweet of Andre to prepare a fruit breakfast for Dani, even though she has other, more meaty things on her mind to eat.

  • Nice seeing Bill and Caroline at the country club; however, Caroline looks more excited about Chelsea and Madison's engagement than Bill does.

  • Nice public meeting at Uptown, Hayley. You? As a conwoman? You are dumber than soap "fans" on social media.

  • Not Derek outing himself a bit to Jan. Not a good look.

  • Not Derek unintentionally reading his potential employer for filth. Haha. That is brilliant.

  • Shanice believing Grayson was going to a booty call when he was about to get it good with Ashley is laughable.

  • I appreciate that Bill is trying to be blunt and honest with Chelsea while all she cares about is "'levelling up' in her relationship... whatever that means.

  • Lynette is ruthless. Stirring her drink with a knife and then sucking it clean? Whew.

  • A purple aura? Is Tatum flirting with Pamela? Because, sign me up for THAT potential!

  • Dana truly thinks she has gotten under Shanice's skin, but Shanice is not one that I believe can be easily rattled or bothered.

Notes:

  • I [still] cannot get enough of the lighting with this soap. It is rich and plentiful.

  • Oops. Not "Thursday, October 2" on the phone. They need to be careful about those kinds of hiccups popping up in the future, but I do love that it was an actual phone call!

I noticed this too, yikes!

I will always love a Leslie/Shanice verbal spar. I also love Leslie vs. Derek.

That ending - ouch, LOL.
