I agree. I don't feel a company that cancels a show after two seasons should be in charge of Warner Brothers at all.

At some point Congress needs to do something about only a few owning every corporation. At least it wasn’t the Ellisons getting it.

Do I think it was sustainable for everyone and their mother to start their own streaming service, splitting up content and franchises? No. Was it inevitable? Yes. The obvious happened: They couldn't keep it up and then they started merging.

Are we heading towards a monopoly? Or Netflix vs Apple as the final two titans? How long before Netflix says you must pay 85 a month? Or that they will start including ads whether you want them or not? Who will stop them when they are one of the only streaming services? Unless I want to have no legal streaming access, no TV/movie content at all, what choice does that give me as a consumer?

Not to mention the carnage that will occur when/if they start imposing their style of entertainment on other brands like HBO...

The public voted for people who are determined to shatter any anti-trust regulations (unless they involved people Trump hates), so this isn't going to get any better. It's just going to get worse. The best to hope for is "good" billionaires win, if there are any...

I'd much rather it went to Paramount. They'd be more likely to keep enough HBO execs & just roll Paramount+ into whatever they called the new service.

This is a sad day. Despite its slogan, HBO's shows operate as the best of TV - they have distinguishable episodes that form a larger story. In 95% of Netflix shows you can't distinguish one episode from another and that is very much by design.

There's room for that model - heck I'm posting on a soap board. But that's a small portion of my viewing.
