Danny and Cricket on “The Young and the Restless” first got married on November 16, 1990. Sadly, they were divorced just a few years later, with several factors contributing to the demise of their relationship. Now, 35 years later, on Friday, November 21, 2025, the couple is reuniting for the second time, proving that love knows no bounds and that two people who are destined for each other only need time to find their way back to one another.
As is tradition with soaps, couples break up and then get back together. They either get married several times to different people, like Erica Kane on “All My Children,” or they remarry every time they feel lonely, yet Danny and Cricket have been divorced for more than 30 years. So when they get married for the second time, “luck” is on their side, says Lauralee Bell, who plays bride-to-be Christine “Cricket” Blair on the long-running daytime drama series.
“I feel so lucky that we really have both of us,” heralds Bell of the show, having both actors still part of its cast. “I know I [as Cricket] was married to Paul [Williams], but other than that, we’ve stayed really loyal to each other. Consistent and first love’s so intense. And so I’m glad that you [referring to Michael Damian, who portrays Danny Romalotti, the groom, who was sitting beside her] didn’t have seven wives in the middle. No, Erica Kane [laughs].”

“No, no. Danny’s been waiting for you,” chimed in Damian to Bell, referring to his character’s loyalty to his lady love. “[Pointing to Bell] Did you ever see that scene? I’ll never give up on Danny. He was very passionate about that.” In response, Bell gleefully responds, “Well, look, persistence pays off, baby!”
“It’s incredible that we have fans that know every detail of the first wedding and now are just waiting to see what happens,” continues Bell. “That’s incredible. That’s a massive amount of time that’s gone by, and to have hoped for a couple to reunite, and literally, time goes by fast. But that was a long wait. And so we’re so appreciative and so excited for them to get, they were sad about 30, whatever, however many years ago.”

Danny and Cricket of 1990 are not the same Danny and Cricket of 2025, so taking a moment, Bell and Damian recall how their characters have evolved over the decades to bring us center stage on wedding number two, with Bell sharing, “For Cricket, it was just such a dreamland, such a ‘I can’t believe this is happening. We have finally become equals, and the rockstar fell for Cricket. How incredible is that? So it was still bright-eyed and Wow, wow, wow. And now I think this is so much more of a mature understanding that it was always you, and it just feels safe and right. And I don’t want to be anywhere else. And this is our chance, and I’m not going to screw it up this time.'” Though Bell jokingly notes that it was Damian’s Danny who screwed it up the first time.
Agreeing with Bell, Damian adds, “These fans post these clips, and from way back when, literally every day, they post a clip, and it’s really incredible to see our journey all these years and have a little refresher of what it was like and the passion, the fun. We had spontaneity, but a consistent, deep love for each other. So I think it’s really beautiful that it seems like, I know time has passed, but it doesn’t seem like time has passed.”
“His [referring to Danny] music was equally as important,” continues Bell. “For me, the law and all of that, proving myself in the business world was a pull away at this point in our lives. We realized we did that, and we fulfilled that. And now it’s just about [us].”
Bell says Danny and Cricket are prepared to do it the way Travis and Taylor do, referencing the real-life whirlwind romance between NFL player Travis Kelce and music superstar Taylor Swift, who got engaged earlier this year. “We’ll stay in Genoa City when I have a big case, and then when my case is over, I’ll go on the road with you,” Bell proclaims of her character’s abilities now vs. then.

While the wedding was the topic at hand, Danian took a moment to pitch a potential story idea: Cricket runs for mayor of Genoa City, with Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) running against her, something that could bring things full circle for Cricket, considering her history with the former villainous.
In the meantime, while the two broached the topic, we still wanted to know why now? What makes this time their time to be back together? “They did what they both needed to do,” states Bell. “Danny and Danny’s still singing, so it’s not like we’re on tour all the time. I think you get to a point in your life where you’re like, ‘We still have many, many, many more years to go, hopefully, but what are we waiting for?”

The wedding invitations were sent out, and now the big event is here, with at least two rarely seen characters back for the nuptials, that being fan favorites Tricia Cast as Nina Webster, Cricket’s best friend, and Patty Weaver as Gina Roma, Danny’s sister. Meanwhile, it’s Michael Baldwin (Christian Le Blanc) who will be officiating.
Unlike their first wedding, which saw the couple wed in Hawaii and on an epic adventure, this time, the two are married at the Genoa City Athletic Club, and their honeymoon won’t be shown on-screen.
“Unfortunately, no. You won’t see us on a honeymoon,” reveals Bell of what fans can expect to see after the wedding celebration concludes on Monday, November 24. “We obviously go on one, but we’ll not be seen on it. But we are told that after the honeymoon, we come back and we’re dealing with some … Now that I’m a Romalotti, I will be dealing with any problems that the Romalottis are having. The honeymoon phase may end quick!”

Though this will be Cricket’s second wedding to Danny, it’s unknown whether she’ll finally officially change her name to Romalotti, something Bell hopes does eventually happen. “Oh, I hope so, because that would be very fun to rub into Phyllis’ face,” Bell points out.
As for why fans should tune in to the two-day affair, Bell says, “If you’re a viewer and you remember watching the show with other family members, it’s also a very nostalgic moment for the viewer personally, because this is just a really heartfelt feel-good show. So if you’re going to watch one, this wedding should be it, because maybe you’ll think of that time you watched it with your grandma, or when you heard it in the background, or whatever. This is the episode to grab at your personal heartstrings as well.”

Meanwhile, look for plenty of flashbacks to Danny and Cricket’s first wedding when the show re-airs the iconic episode on Thursday, November 27, which also happens to be Thanksgiving Day.
