Dear Members,

As Soap Opera Network begins celebrating its 25th anniversary (October 8, 2026), we will be welcoming diverse and distinct voices to our growing roster of writers in the coming weeks.

These individuals will provide readers with the latest updates on all the soaps, including news, recaps, and opinion columns, among other content areas. Additionally, we will be ramping up interviews with stars from all across the world of soaps, past, present, and future, as well as internationally, in both written and digital formats, such as written, audio, podcasts, and video-based one-on-ones, among others.

In light of the site's continued growth, I was wondering what kind of content members of the SON Community might be looking for as readers and/or viewers of daytime television programming. Are there any specific features you would like to see on the website that are not currently available? What do you expect to see on a site geared towards soap operas that no other site(s) are currently providing?

I believe the SON Community is the right place to ask such questions, as you are all some of the best and most knowledgeable individuals when it comes to our nearly 100-year-old genre, thanks to your dedication, passion, love, and interest.

Ideally, I'd appreciate any input via email ([email protected]). However, since this is a message board, people might find it easier to post a response rather than send an email. You are more than welcome to reply in either format at your leisure, if interested.

Please note that all input is valued and appreciated. That said, there's no guarantee we can accommodate any/all suggestions. This post is to gauge what one would like to see on a site dedicated to soaps, particularly on Soap Opera Network.

P.S. This inquiry is in reference to the Soap Opera Network website, not the SON Community. Any issues/concerns about the SON Community will be addressed/discussed in a separate post, to be published at a later point this month, as we prepare for the launch of a new layout/design for the SON Community, as referenced in this post.

I'll be very short... (I fear I lack the intelligence to think of anything else at this point) - So... in 1 sentence - anything that has to do with the classic soaps. Meaning - more posts about classic soaps, soaps history... there is this hardcore obsession with soap nostalgia that I feel we could tap in. That's all I can think of now. Again, I'll leave the smarter people decide what else can be added or done. All I know is in my journey to classic soaps... I would love to see more posts about them. Things like Top 10 worst retcons... with video examples... descriptions and etc. Top 25 catfights. Top 50 soap cliffhangers. Just examples. There could be more diverse topics and things like analysis on past ratings... how certain storylines impacted the genre. It's a goldmine of material.  

I wish you @Errol amazing luck and great success with this project. SON has a special part in my heart, my favorite place in the internet. Anything that will make it even more exciting... I'm ALL for. 

P.S. Love the idea of podcasts... and opinion columns. 

What I love on a Soap Opera Website are current News of the Shows and some recaps of the soaps (even cancelled ones).. 

The Idea of Podcasts could actually work if done right 

I don’t follow other soap opera websites so I am not familiar with what they provide. My interest is always hearing from soap actors/writers/producers/behind the scenes people of the past who are still with us and getting an interview from them. 

I agree with tapping into shows of the past. Especially if celebrating 100 years of soaps. History should be included. 

I'd love to see interviews with actors of the past about their time on their show(s) and what they remember the most. Storylines. Castmates. Behind the Scenes drama. 

Another World was my show. Also interested in Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, One Life to Live, Generations, Search for Tomorrow (the NBC years).

The website has interviews with several soap legends, including Bill Bell and Agnes Nixon, but it'd be nice to hear more from industry professionals, both past and present.

Love. Love. Loooove this idea. 

There are soap legends still alive who will never do video interviews like the television academy. I’ll settle for print interviews. 

A regular feature interviewing actors/writers of the past or profiling them.  A daily, this day in soap history feature that can be more detailed than the outdated welovesoaps articles, or like SOD used to do in the back of every issue.

BTW, I love the idea of a soap podcast, I used to listen to another one but stopped after the "funny" one left to pursue a career in soaps.

I love serious reviews from critics who have something to say. Like the vintage ones for the old soaps.

Oh yeah. Painted Dreams will be a 100 years old in October, 2030 (!). That's definitively something that's worth planning for. 

For me I would love to see a soap site, give weekly or daily reviews of the shows, soap star interviews (as someone who used to work for a now defunct soap site as a columnist and interviewer) are always fun to read.  Maybe weekly opinion columns on the current daytime shows, a place for history of the shows and of course the message boards and/or chat rooms where soap fans can interact with one another.
