People bring up stories from decades ago, but I don't know how much the average viewer ended up caring. Sonny is just such a husk always outside of right or wrong - maybe if he'd gunned down Michael, but hell, who knows even there.

I think the AJ debacle and Michael ending up back as Sonny’s son after he killed his father in cold blood and everyone seems to know it shows they absolutely do not care. It’s all cheap stunts, just like brining back Jagger in name only to kill him off.

The fact that Michael is fully a Quartermaine these days in everything but name only annoys me to no end. His children having the Corinthos name instead of Quartermaine is gross. The show tip toes around the fact that Sonny murdered AJ in cold blood to the point you have Sonny giving Monica’s effing sister a tour of the town and just saying his relationship with Monica was “complicated”. There’s nothing complicated about it, you murdered her son and then they let you out of prison early and her grandson just got over you doing it.

Does Drew miss having friends and family? The love of Willow literally can’t be worth an entire town hating you, but it seems like he doesn’t care. He expressed some hurt about Monica but instantly went back to Evil Drew so it rings hollow.

I only care for completionist sake.  I don't really care about Jagger, who was barely anything like OGJagger.

I also think it was unnecessary to have Sonny kill him in cold blood.  Have the guy leave town, never to be seen again.   There isn't any real defense for killing Jagger and I'll be honest I don't even remember why Sonny killed him.  There isn't a right or wrong grey area with it.  It's just wrong lol.  It compromises Sonny even more than usual on something so unimportant.

But, hey, if everyone's cool with him killing AJ and Jagger he can kill Britt or the DA tomorrow and I would turn a blind eye.

I dunno. I don’t think the popularity of the Character is actually that strong these days. As I asked before, is there even any actual proof of ratings going down when he’s not in the forefront getting away with murder?

I don't think he's as popular as he was years ago, he's just worn many down. The show will never get rid of him and any attempt at calling him out or bringing justice will meet the same end. It's one of the reasons I found the story for him in 2024 to be a chore.

Did they claim he was accosting Kristina? I can't remember either.

I hate it too. Michael briefly changed his name in 2014-15 after finding out about A.J.'s murder but tbh he should do it again. (Drew should also take back the name, for the power and influence.) Another great reason to bring A.J. back again - and have Michael having known for some time, allowing resentment to fester again - and open up al this stuff for drama.

I am pragmatic about MB/Sonny. The fact is the show would take a hit to lose him, something several of us have discussed before. But there are ways to humble the character and mitigate his presence but keep him in story, in a modified role that gives him less heavy lifting and makes Mo less obviously struggling and lethargic everyday. That solution goes back to Brenda and VM but I'm pretty sure you've heard us all do this show in our heads dance before lol.

And yes, they need to explore Drew's estrangements. To me that still goes back to the kids, or Sam. He raised Danny as his son for several years. He adored Jake and vice versa. That would at least add some layers to what should stay a clear villain.

That was when I realized the writers don’t think their audience notices or cares about stories actually having a resolution.

A key example would be not just Wagger but Austin/Roger Howarth, lol. Over a year later after the story was long since abandoned they tossed in a few lines that Cyrus killed him.

It genuinely feels like Drew has never loved anyone except Willow the way they’re currently writing him. They say he’s bitter at the Quartermaines but he doesn’t even act like there was a time where he loved them. He never expresses any guilt over stealing his nephews wife when he and Michael from what I’ve seen, were actually close. His daughter is absolutely nothing but a pawn to him which is sad. I find Drew to be a good evil on the show but the way they’re currently writing him I also wouldn’t mind if he got shot for a second time in 2 months. Truly whomever shot him has no reason not to finish the job since he hasn’t changed at all.

Michael going back to Quartermaine to honor Monica after her death would’ve been pretty easy to write.

I totally agree with your 👆 analysis of Drew.

But, I would also add that his regret over being excluded from the family feels a little unprovoked.  I know Drew was interested in the Quatermaine family businesses.  But, when has Drew been pinning away, hoping to be invited to the Quartermaine Thanksgiving dinner?  I am more willing to believe that he just straight up hates Michael, than to think Drew is also hurt at the thought of not being accepted as part of the family.

My Theory

Spoiler

Michael is setting up Drew to buy the house from Ronnie, knowing the will is a fraud, and he got the house from Monica in the real will. Michael wants Drew's cash to be tied up in litigation, thus he won't be able to fund his other projects.

My only opposition is that when Billy Miller played Drew when I was watching, he was very much a Quartermaine due to his time as Jason where he actually gave a damn about them unlike Steve’s Jason.

He arrested Kristina for no reason and Sonny warned him over and over not to go after his family

If Sonny is not going to prison how can they end the story?

Sonny could pay for some of his crimes in some real way, for once. He could lose his empire and have to struggle to rebuild something. That's a story he has never done. Unlike all the boring shít he does everyday. There's a reason Steve's return flopped until he was put back with the Qs. It's because the mob trio stories where they're all the heroes are washed and everyone involved looks old and tired. It's not 2003.

I don't care about Jagger but it's idiotic that they did the story where Sonny murders a federal agent and then abandoned it. Meanwhile Sonny is old, tired and incredibly boring. I'm sure they'll bring it up again in another year or two when they need some other plot point and pretend they planned it all along.
