Sure, Nina can read Willow, but you have Portia, Carly, Olivia, Alexis, Anna, Laura etc., etc. at your disposal.  You need to cull the cast at some point even if the actresses are super talented.

Very true. But I've been enjoying Nina read her.

That would work. Maybe she wins Michael over but is actually planning to bilk him and run off with the kids, or something along those lines.

Given how Willow's been acting, I feel like that could very much happen. Then Nina could bust her.

I see even less space for Ava.  She's been written into a corner.  I wouldn't mind her popping in and out, but she's so far into b story I wouldn't miss her.

I feel like B-story is increasingly generous there right now. They all abducted Ric and then did nothing for a month. At least unlike Kristina I still remember Ava is on the show when she's not in front of me onscreen.

I would keep Ava around on contract and think she can but I don't fault people who don't lol. I would not necessarily hate it if she went off contract and started doing recurring stints as a villain, though the hue and cry online would be intense.

Unless the show re-pairs Nina with Sonny, I don't see a place for her anymore.  Not that it should be dependent on Sonny, but it is what it is.

Well, before Nixon Falls, it looks like Nina was about to go off the deep end (and CW would have eaten that up). So...

Awww. I think if they would just let Ava be a villainess with wiggle room of an ace up her sleeves (think Sami on DAYS in her bad ole days in the 90s) she might still have legs. PM definitely prove it was possible. Now these writers...just look at this B story. First Cody/Ava/Ric/Liz which surprisingly had legs to it. Then, Ric with Alexis/Ava/Kristina could have been something, too. But alas.

I may have missed it, but did Jack put Joss up to telling Carly about Vaughan being an agent?

I think so?  I don't know if there was an actual scene with him telling Joss to do that, but that's what I assumed.   I am not sure why he would want to do that though.  It doesn't really make sense to me, but neither has this entire plot so.......🤷‍♀️

I guess I’ll be in the minority and say I’m fine with the cast as is. I don’t see a need to write off Ava or Nina and I greatly enjoy when they’re onscreen.

I don't actually think you are in the minority in overall GH fandom.  Maura and Cynthia have a lot of fans.  I won't try to change your mind (except when it comes to Sonny lol), but I don't think either Ava or Nina were built to be on this show for years and years.  They've both been on for over a decade, I believe, and I really don't think they bring much to the table as far as story.

Increasingly it feels like we have a collection of twists, then favored performers kept onscreen no matter what, but few actual stories. Even soaps, where stories never end, told them with a beginning, middle, and end.

It is working for me somewhat in that it took how Valentini likes to produce the show already, and infused it with energy. So it has upped the fun factor and given it the illusion of a faster pace. But the seams and deep ravines still show up in stuff like the Ric story, where it is dropped for weeks at a time and the characters involved do not interact enough. Or Laura’s campaign, the Gio/Emma story, hell all of Emma’s story.

What is happening with Gio and Emma really reminds me of what they did with Spencer/Trina, minus the racism of course. I would think even with guarantees, these young cast members have to be cheaper than most, so use them!

I just saw a new instagram post by Maurice, very much kissing the FV ring, and calling out his costars including the placeholder DA. So they are continuing that direction.

She is a stunning woman. And miscast here.

I don't think either of them is a huge drag on the show. I think they both, especially Cynthia, do yeoman's work. I mostly just think of writing them out in a world where the show is shuffled around top to bottom like the early '90s.

I think there would be a lot of struggles in knowing where to take characters like Laura or Anna even without them, but I do agree with those who believe the show has so many viable women in that age range they don't really know what to do with them.

At least one of them could be going through a medical issue. This is General Hospital after all! And yes, they have a wealth of talent when it comes to women in that same 50-60 age range, and most of them are just there right now. They are also incredibly talented actors! Give them something to do!

The show is blessed with a strong cast, overall, which is probably another reason just reverting to the Obrecht Power Hour feels like leadership that has no real motivation or ideas.

I don't say a lot of positive about Mulcahey's return but I do appreciate that he had ideas and wanted to make them work until it was clear they weren't going to let him.
