Honestly, I'm at a point where if Hayley's going to be nothing more than a plot point, then I say get rid of her. I thought she was going to be an interesting character but she's nothing more than a dull interloper for Dani/Bill, and it's pretty clear that there's still some unfinished business between them. Dani needs a real rival that can toe to toe with her. 

I’m all for Doug’s son coming on the show with a vengeance since his mom obviously isn’t going to do anything.

I assume Jan rejected everything about Joey and his underworld life. Which, fine. It's a good story angle, the first Ashley has had so far. But again, I wish stronger soap vets were playing some of these characters like Jan, Sharon from the Articulettes, Peaches as opposed to a 30 yo in a Jeffersons wig, etc. They could really make some of this inherent drama soar.

That's more a 227 wig than the Jeffersons. Marla Gibbs had that style around late Season 2 through Season 3.

I said awhile ago that Krista Allen (sp?) is a now a local in Atlanta and could have easily played the role of Jan.  She has the soap opera experience.

Has it been established what role Jan has in Vanessa's life?  Is she the housekeeper or is she like Mona and is the property manager/office manager?

I feel like Krista is a bit too glamourous for Jan, plus would likely require a higher salary than your average recurring character.

P.S. That line in your signature "I know you were in my house bitch" makes me chuckle and reminds me again of Hayley. I think there is plenty of life left in her and I don't see a reason to recast. I've seen so much worse on other soaps that have stayed for decades. What I've gotten from her has been enough to make me believe she is Hayley and that's what's important.

Keep in mind, I haven't been watching everyday.  But, what I've seen so far?  It's okay.  It's still coming together, but the potential is there.  I'm just like Douglas Marland, though.  I need some (more) characters and families on the show who are have-nots.  Soaps are nothing without characters who are all about the come up (@All My Shadows).
