It was odd the way Felicia said Maxie found love with Nathan and later again with Spinelli.

  That was not the correct way to phrase it.  Spinelli was first, but it could have been Kristina Wagner's dialogue mistake in scenes that were otherwise lovely work.

Kristina Wagner did really nice work there, I agree. I don't think it was a dialogue error, but just more of the same with GH -- rewriting and retconning and changing things...just because they can.

I was hoping it was a small error and the show isn't painting it like Maxie never knew love before Nathan.  When she "married" Spinelli and clearly has a teenage daughter with him lol.

I agree. I've just about given up on all the soaps when it comes to history, or caring about what we think at all.

I always thought the early Spinelli/Maxie material had toxic vibes, as any story about the woman who needs to be humbled and see that the "real" guy who is obsessed with her is her soulmate tends to have, so if they want to rewrite history a little, I'm not too bothered in this case.

I have always found Maxie/Spinelli charming even if I didn't find either character to be at the time if that makes sense?  The show obviously missed the boat by not pairing Spinelli with Georgie.   I was in the at least he didn't end up with Lulu phase.  

I don't recall finding them toxic.  I would have to rewatch them again. I just felt Guza treated them as a "humor" couple rather than playing it serious most of the time.  Sort of like early Kevin/Lucy without the depth.

While they worked early on, I did find Spinelli and Maxie pretty toxic at times back then as things progressed. A lot of shaming her and tearful speeches by Spinelli. I was very happy when Spinelli moved on to what seemed like a healthier, more mature relationship with Ellie. I thought Spinelli made a big mistake letting her go because Bradford was tired of driving Lyft lol. But I do think the modern Spixie (especially over the last year-plus starting with Mulcahey) is sweet, witty and charming, and I think they deserve a big wedding. The terminally boring BLQ and Chase got the kind of celebration they deserved instead last spring. I wouldn't keep Spixie together forever, but I would run it for a few years.

Nathan was never anything more than the apex of the desperate attempts by the show and mostly the network to put Maxie over with some hunk, any hunk to match Kirsten Storms - ABC/Frons clearly did not want her with Bradford Anderson and it showed for a lot of those years. They tried her with a score of bland hardbodies, they even brought on Jason Cook for her and all of them tanked. Nathan was the only one who stuck (ironically post-Frons) because BA had left the show, and because Frank and Ron were infatuated with his body. But he never had any personality to speak of, and Paevey couldn't act. Acting like that lug was her great love is silly because even I know it was Spinelli, and I was someone very sick of them a decade ago.

Oh, I liked Ellie so much.  Didn't she end up with Griffin in one of the most random exits ever? lol

I thought Jason Cook's character actually could have been more.  I think he's still in jail for Lisa's murder.

Yeah, I believe so. I never saw the episode myself, but I remember people mentioning it on here. And I was like WHERE. LOL.

 

I feel like he got a throwaway line, too at some point.

Yeah.  Matt was on the show for awhile and did a whole lot of nothing.  By the time they actually paired him with Maxie I think Storms was gone on her leave for most of it.  He did kill Lisa Niles-which I guess is something.

I saw the episode, but it's been a long time.  Ellie tells Spinelli she has met someone new since their breakup and that he's from Port Charles (the one episode suspense!) Griffin ends up calling her that night and we find out they are together.  It was very random with no set up or follow up, but I want to say they are still together. Although Griffin/Nathan/Chase are all the same to me.  I think Matt Cohen sings too so I really get he and Chase confused.
