I mean, no songwriter is going to waste a potential hit record on a fictional daytime soap group. I'm just happy we got to hear some actual music from them - I wouldn't mind if they threw it up on streaming.

Yeah, that's my justification for it too.  (OK was that "jazz" song a new song as well?  I expected sequences so keep that in mind while I nitpick.her to, I dunno, do something like Summertime which surely the rights wouldn't be too expensive for.)  I loved that we did get full uninterrupted (albeit short) songs and enjoyed those

But yeah, after hearing how these songs changed the world... And that one song wouldn't have even been a Supremes album cut.  Didn't they in the end decide they would do more modern choreography (I admit all that part of the storyline lost me) because... they absolutely weren't.  And errr how exactly did Chelsea update their costumes??

(And we saw a ticket with a $300.00 general admission on it which seems a bit steep for me--I just recently saw Kylie Minogue in floor seats for $175 Canadian :P --but I guess if this was a reunion the world had been waiting for I'll let that go...)  Still, they did give *some* sense of it being at a sold out theatre, while barely showing any of the audience, which is much better than any soap I can think of has done with such things in ages, so...

I haven't read all of the comments yet, so I'm not sure what's being said but the Ashley and Derek stuff is just a mess and I have no idea who the writers think we should be rooting for.  Because Ashley's reaction to Derek was IMHO craycray after how eager she was to reconnect with him, etc.  What the Hell was she expecting??

-- Good episode that played the concert stuff as well as anyone could hope for.

-- The music? Meh. They were in tune and the moves were cute, but none of that was a wow. None of it showed me why they would have been huge back in the day, but I give the show props for all we got.

-- But $300. for premium seating? I don't think so.

-- Samantha made dance moves in her seat like a 30-year old.

-- Leslie breaks all the rules. When I saw her filming the concert -- she was the only one with her phone out -- I knew she was again the outlaw.

-- Best exchange of the episode was when Smitty told Martin "I always liked that jacket on you" and Martin replied, "I know." Simple, yet beautiful.

-- Ashley is a POS. Derek takes her for coffee and apologizes to her. She responds with attitude and cu_ntiness to everything he says. Then she twists his words and acts like he's blaming her for the break up. That's followed by her saying they're over and walking off like a bitch.

-- Why does Ashley care about Shanice and Derek? I hope Derek is done with her for good. She's a child. Let her put on her beret and pretend she's in Paris with Andre in between his visits to screw Dani.

-- Vanessa looked hilariously out of place at the hospital. She'd really go there like that to see Doug? The girl really acts like banging Joey on a casino table is what it takes to win.

-- I thought the cliffhanger was fine. When the next week's previews close the show, that becomes the cliffhanger for me.

I shoulda read your comments before my post because... basically yes to all of this.

Oh I did love Leslie's I assume adlib when she was squeezing past Smitty to her seat, something like "Aww your shirt matches the seat" (it did lol)  Funny and in character because of course she'd have to say something...

Friday's episode ended with Anita announcing - but before we continue with the concert, there is something . . .
I'm speculating that Monday will continue from that point, with the ladies doing a tribute to former Articulette Barbara, before continuing singing.

Yes, when I saw $300 on that ticket, I was stunned.

They need to start pushing Ashley as a flawed character. This whole sweet, perfect nurse isn't working.  Ashley was jealous of Derek and Shanice, but as soon as he took her out for coffee and told her he was doing it to make her jealous, it's like a switch was flipped and she pushed him away again. This would actually breathe a little bit of life into the Ashely character, but I doubt that's what they're doing.

Do you think Tracy and Sharon are in on it? Whatever Anita has planned seems to be what she talked to Andre about when he was at the house. When she finished her solo, she kinda gave him and a nod and he seemed to know what was up. I'm guessing it could be a tribute to Barbara.

100%  It would make the character more interesting, absolutely, but *so far* I don't true that that's what they're doing either so it just comes off as bad writing...

When the Duprees assembled at the house to wish Anita well, it was overflowing with females. The really needed to have included more men in the family from the outset eg Andre could have been Vernon's nephew or something. Or have a third child, a son.

No Jacob at the concert? Was that explained? He seems to miss out on family events.

And if this was such a momentous occasion wouldn't Bill and Hayley be there? Elon?

Dana is a valuable character to stir things up. A pity they made her an attempted murderer. That makes it harder to redeem her.

That made me think back to the first episode where Laura was talking to Mona about seeing her as a mother etc. You got the  impression that those characters and relationships would be explored but they've been hardly seen since.

Maybe there are/were plans down the line?

Honestly, the way Ticketmaster be scamming people in the US, this didn't surprise me.

Ashley needs to be modeled off Alison from Melrose Place. I was finally starting to enjoy her and here she goes back into this annoying romantic heroine role that doesn't suit her. She and Derek do not work together at all so seeing them together and him dismissing any real feelings for Shanice was a huge disappointment. Ashley/Derek/Shanice was fun and could've had legs, nobody is checking for Derek/Ashley/Andre.

I don't really mind the Laura thing, what is starting to irk me with her character is the lack of progression. Her secret is out and at this point she can only be a mild irritant to the Duprees. If she's going to stick around long term she needs to pivot. What are her long term goals now that the secret is out? How is she going to maintain her lifestyle? Is she going to get a love interest? A partner in crime? A rich husband so she can truly go toe-to-toe with the Duprees?

There is so much potential there but they need to start moving her towards something other than annoying people.

And we are definitley not checking for Dani/Andre/Ashley either.

Yes!  Right now for the most part she feels just like an annoyance that most of the characters can brush off (the Nicole scene notwithstanding.)  She needs something new in her arsenal, or... anything...

With regards to Leslie, remember this, she's supposed to be something of a rendition of Sheila Carter. Sheila committed numerous atrocities and somehow ended up becoming and lasting as a main character through it all. There's more than enough hope for Leslie.

Sheila's reign of terror ended on Y&R  when she was exposed and the move to B&B was a good twist. However due to shoddy writing, they brought her back and the whole thing descended into farce.

I do not want that to happen to Leslie.  She needs to be a viable antagonist who is punished in some way but picks up and continues. Not getting away with crimes and walking around town.

There has been too much of that on soaps and BTG needs to avoid those poor choices.

agreed.  I don't want the scenario where Stefano ate at the Brady Pub.

Well in this instant I would argue that BTG probably already made a poor choice by having a main character committing lawless acts so early in the show's run. Not even officially six months in and it's already time for Leslie to be written out? Do better BTG.
