how so?

Well we were discussing that in the soap news thread about the episode count and its potential for them to pull another repeat week. Go look see.

having trouble locating that discussion. but according to the initial report,

the soap opera is roughly four plus months ahead in terms of tape-to-air, and two plus months ahead script-to-tape,

which mean that have enough episodes ready to air into early 2026. so i’m not sure how a week of repeats helps from a production perspective.

and as for viewers, even assuming that chelsea gets rescued tomorrow, making people cool their heels after such an intense week makes no sense — at least to me.

Well, I have faith in your ability to look and read the thread. If you read the whole thread, Errol and several people give their theories over the episode count (which appared 200 episodes) over 365 days in a year...which is where the discussion started. One point was brought up about holidays and the repeat week we already had and how that might be factored in.

Erroll posting about the next repeat week coming up verified our discussion. Thus why I said it made sense. Since we were discussing last week. My perspective.

When the recast occurred, they started writing Ted like a loser.

so, if the speculation that nuTed was the actor they wanted initially is correct, then it follows that their original intent was for ted to be seen as a loser.

with original ted, their mutual connection (and attraction) between him and nicole was clear. i see nicole with nuTed, have no idea what she ever saw in him, much less why she married him.

and what is with the blasting music that keeps popping on?

ahh. i’ve been evaluating the decision from the perspective of viewers, who are likely to be, shall we say, less than thrilled at having to wait for a week to pick up chelsea’s rescue.

Heck as a viewer, the timing is completely wrong. So tomorrow better have a really good cliffhanger for the wait viewers are going to have. And I still fully expect very upset viewers.

Unfortunately in light of the discussion in that thread...not unexpected. If anything, well-timed.

Oh Madison, sweetie, you will get to Chelsea eventually. I promise you will. And you will have cats before Halloween, and your Birkenstocks will be loaded for autumn.

This is really disrespectful and stereotypical. I'm not a chronic complainer, but can we not be homophobic on this board when it comes to wlw?

So what is going to air in repeat week? Wk 2? A random week or different episodes?

If these repeat weeks are going to work they need better planning. Some sort of themed episodes eg Chelsea's story leading up to the kidnap, Leslie/Dana's hi jinks etc.

Gatecrashers, I'm a gay man (and the calling out of the cats/Birkenstocks was meant to be taken lightly, not seriously). Hilarious this is what's getting called out in this thread. Hilarious, especially since so many other disrespectful things are said on a constant basis.

And, if you even bothered reading my other posts (which I doubt), I've been nothing but complementary of the relationship with Chelsea and Madison (while occasionally doubting how simple and sweet it has been since its beginning, as they show itself has leaned into the stereotype of how quickly women who enter into same-gender relationships can move).

If taping 200 episodes per year (instead of 250 or whatever) enables Beyond the Gates to manage their budget better than the other CBS shows are doing, I'm in favor of it.  One thing I really enjoy about this show is how they seem capable of hiring extras and under-5s, which Y&R apparently is too poverty-stricken to accomplish.  (I do worry about how frequent "breaks" impact the ratings though.)

The last break didn't seem to hurt BTG (IIRC) and frankly as someone still a little behind I'm good with it lol.

That wedding is clearly invalid, but Allison is too insane to care.

It will be interesting to see how long Leslie can be kept from behind the gates. She's not going to take no for an answer even with Bill threatening her. And her idea for a magenta house was extremely tacky, but on brand for her.

It definitely seems holiday-specific; the last break was during the Fourth of July week, and I suspect these breaks are to ensure we get episodes airing through the end of 2025.
