After today it seems like Sophia will be the villain.

I wouldn’t mind Sophia being the villain again. She was last summer and we were all rooting for her, mainly because Tate and Holly were so selfish 😂😂😂

They just needed to establish her motivations a little better… and not include Javi, Leo or Melinda in it.

I actually don't mind Melinda.

Tate and Holly are both annoying.  Sophia just never seemed annoyed at Tate. It would have been nice to have some progression and a growing resentment of him that built up to this choice on her part.

Sophia getting annoyed with Tate over time, because of Holly, because of Doug III and everything was a missed opportunity. And could've provided a better explanation for her actions.

I swear, some days there's too much exposition, and some days there's never enough. I feel like I'm not that dense (no need for commentary). But it has been two hours since I watched the episode, and I just figured out Melinda's plan.

Correct me if I'm wrong, @AbcNbc247 or @carolineg --- Melinda is advising Sofia to continue to appear pregnant for the next 14 days in order to keep Tate from possibly reclaiming the baby from Javi and Leo -due to the Safe Haven Law.

Meanwhile, Melinda still has Julie's necklace, which Leo can prove was stolen. However, he would risk self-incrimination by admitting to fencing Julie's necklace to whomever Melinda purchased it from.  And Doug3 still thinks that stealing back the necklace will pay off his debt and protect Holly?

Things aren't looking good for Melinda's future as an adoption attorney.  This would be strike two (Jude), and I don't think she'll get a third at bat.

Right?

We don't know what Melinda is advising her to do.  That's a theory.  I think Melinda could find an adoptive parent in that time.  I was thinking Melinda was going to have Sophia pretend the baby died in an out of town clinic to be honest, but I haven't read a spoiler.

Melinda sold the necklace, IIRC.  She sold it for a profit because she didn't want the trouble of it or take a loss by selling it back to Doug3.

The two questions I need answered in July

It was confirmed that Rachel Blake was 'returned' to Kristen on June 3 (after the hospital vote), and Tony DiMera returned on June 30—but we haven’t seen either of them since. Since it turns out Aremid is just down the block, should someone be checking their Apple AirTags?

Why doesn't Doug3 speak like a Frenchman, dress like a Frenchman, or walk like a Frenchman? (I needed a third thing to make it a joke) And why was a French citizen, who was convicted of a crime while in the US allowed to change his name?

Today was mostly about everything surrounding Johnny’s case but I didn’t mind it.

I’m glad that Johnny and EJ tried to rehash the events of EJ’s shooting and who came and went from the house that night. It helps make the timeline more clear lol their scenes were nice but I’ll never agree with the two of them making peace so soon after everything that happened. Hopefully, the storyline doesn’t transition into Johnny and EJ versus Chanel.

Speaking of Chanel, I like that there’s conflict between her and Paulina but I had mixed feelings about their scenes though. The writing in there scene didn’t seem as mature as it has been lately. But I did enjoy her scenes with Abe.

And I love that Marlena had no time for Kristen’s crap. Too bad that Brady did though. I really hope that everything that Rachel’s going through doesn’t pull them closer together. The ship has sailed for Bristen.

Marlena didn’t seem to have any time for Belle’s crap either lol I do kinda like that Belle’s been put back on the case. It could lead to a pretty good mess lol

Stephanie and Alex were boring though, but Stephanie revealing that she plans on doing some PR work for EJ and the hospital could lead to something interesting happening. The two of them have sort of been taken out of the Kiriakis family drama, and I really hope that they’re put back into it soon. I’m also not really sure how one porn book could save a massive company like Titan 😂😂

And I gotta admit, I kinda like the shade of blue that Johnny and Chanel used for their apartment.

The ending cliffhanger was really good too.

Even though this has been happening for years, it astounds me that Kristen is allowed in Marlena's house at all let alone allowed to sip tea, sit on her couch, ask for advice and proceed to insult her a few days after her husband died. And Marlena is the one that ends up leaving.  It makes me furious at Brady.  He can't meet Kristen anywhere else?

Question(s) Du Jour
I hate to dredge up bad memories, but doesn’t Versivex seem a lot like Megan Hathaway’s orchid serum—a miracle cure with sketchy ethics?

Is it possible one of the DiMera scions is about to try reviving another dead relative with it?

I've heard a lot of different things in regards to the show since the change of writers...

Has everything between the end of April through now been due to outlines laid out by Ron C with the new head-writers only having control over how the day to day episodes flow... or has everything since the new writers taken over been all of their own work?

I ask because the whole Sophia/Melinda thing seems like a Ron C move... and I wonder how the head-writers will either fix it and/or make the storyline flow differently?

And while I think Doug III and Ari have a nice rapport.. it seems as though he's more interested in hooking up vs Ari.. who seems more interested in more then what he's willing/able to provide.  Or perhaps I'm misreading the vibes/situation (wouldn't be the first time I did that LOL)

I think it's been said they were using Ron's outlines until the fall, which seems silly to me. But who knows? Maybe they had already booked certain people and didn't want to change it. Or they just wanted to let his stories wrap naturally and focus on what's next.

Either way, I'd hope they'd change some of the typical Ron missteps at least, even if they ended up following his general outline (which I can get in regards of things like "Who Shot EJ?" since clues would've been planted before they took over).

Agreed that the Sophia/Melinda thing seems very Ron-like. And so does One Stormy Night.

But some things, like the Alex/Gabi thing being dropped and the potential Brady/Sarah pairing feel more like Paula/Jeanne. And I feel the same way about the improved writing for Kayla, Paulina, etc.

As for Doug III, I actually like how complex he is, as a character. He wants to be this good guy/hero for Holly, Julie and everybody but at the same time also has a lot of flaws. And being horny is one of them 😂😂

That’s why I wish they had really pushed the feud between him and Tate. I really enjoyed the little bit of it that we got

That was definitely true for one actor/character.

Was it just my TV or was the audio not matching the actors movements today?

There did seem to be a lot of filler today though. And the whole Xander/Felicity thing has always been unnecessary.

But I did think that Sarah was used very well, both with Holly and then with Xander. I like that the show continues to build these relationships with Maggie and her daughter and granddaughter. And that Sarah and Xander are not immediately rushing back into a reunion. It's good drama and could lead to more good drama too. Let them be apart for a while, let them have new relationships before they inevitably find their way back to each other. Based on their scenes today, I'm looking forward to seeing how the writers make that happen over time.

And yeah, Tate's a dumbass lol but he was really sweet and dorky throughout the episode, even though him and Holly being so happy and willing to go on a trip while Sophia is "about" to give birth makes them look even more selfish than they already have been. I've never been against them being so selfish, but I really think that that should play more into both of their characters. I did kind of feel bad for Sophia too.

As for Julie and her necklace, this is another thing that's just not necessary. And definitely a Ron storyline that Paula/Jeanne should not have followed through on.

I've been less interested in days after the big events and returns ended. It does seem the new writers are still following Ron's outlines. It's a shame they still are.

See, I keep saying this. Any change could be for the worse.
