I was watching the Locher Room episode where the actress playing Chelsea was one of the guests.  After being able to solider through the awkwardness of Alan's interview skills, there was one statement from the actress describing Chelsea as being more like her mother Dani and I was baffled by that statement since Chelsea is almost the complete opposite of her mother Dani.

So it's either the writing has changed to suit the actress and her strengths, or the actress isn't strong enough to convey that Chelsea is supposed to be a mini Dani.

If I were to make any cuts to the Dupree brood, I would probably write out Chelsea since her character doesn't seem to fit on the show.. and based on her being such a successful influencer.. she should be globe trotting instead of staying in the area.

Oh Bill, Chelsea's right about the business lawsuit.  If you don't respond to some things, then a summary judgement can be entered - and he didn't pay attention!

Nicole refers to her parents snarkily as "the Dupree High Command"

I really like Nicole telling everyone off!

I understand Nicole's anger towards Ted, but she needs to realize that her son is grown and he chose for two years not to confide in her when he had that choice. Maybe she should be asking why he chose not to come to his own mother even when he was clealry struggling with this secret. Ted wasn't even there and Vernon who was decided to also keep it from Nicole. I get that this is her husband but I also get wanting to protect his wife from everything that this entails.

So I have some thoughts...

Honestly, I hate that the writers had Vanessa interrupt Joey when he was right about to dispose of Randy. They should've had Joey kill Randy and then have his body turn up somewhere and Vanessa and Doug can be suspicious about what really happened to Randy but not have any solid proof. That would have established Joey as a major threat and given some real teeth and also establish the danger that Vanessa's getting sucked into.

I would have had Martin tell Smitty the truth before he had the press conference because that's more or less what ended up happening anyway. Having Martin hold a press conference only for him to cancel it at the last minute just made him look dumb and incompetent and that annoyed me to no end. I would rather not have him had that press conference if that's what going to happen anyway.

I also agree that having the threesome storyline occur largely off-screen was a bad call especially now that Allison is getting involved but I'm actually liking the Chelsea/Madison romance, even if it's a bit rushed. It's a hell lot better than that whole Chanel/Allie/Johnny saga on Days Of Our Lives, that's for sure. And I wanted to like Chanel/Allie as a couple especially since they were the first lesbian couple on the show in years. But I digress... Anyway....

And one more thing... I think it's time for Nicole and Ted to get divorced. Having them be in this limbo for weeks on end is getting ridiculous. If Ted is barely trying and Nicole doesn't want to be with him anymore, then she needs to file for divorce and move on. And Ted needs to let her go. Same for Martin and Smitty. They need to break up for a while and move on in new pairings. If some years later down the road they want to get back together, it's fine. It's not like there isn't a precedent for it in soaps, since plenty of soap couples have broken up and gotten back together many times before for eons.

  • Once again, Anita and Vernon just 'get' each other, and I love their support, too.
  • It does not look like Naomi liked it when Jacob said the Duprees were her family (hinting they were not his).
  • Dani playing off the jealousy telling Andre he can do whomever, wherever. You know she wants it to be her and only her.
  • Damn, Nicole put her foot down: any hopes of Ted reconciling with her are now done, due to his deceptions. Wow. Good on her for putting her foot down where this is concerned.
  • Crazy, basketcase... all amazing words to describe Dana, but it looks like Nicole is about to embark on the warpath and show us her power as a Dupree woman.
  • Oh, both Ashley and Shanice are playing "let's see whose [insert] is bigger", and it's catty as frick. I love it.
  • Here comes Nicole, and everyone is clearing out! We love the love of a mother's embrace, don't we?
  • Bill, Ted... do not speak too soon about Jacob being on the case. 🤣
  • Dani would totally know where the secret cookies are stashed... but that word 'secret' is deadly for Nicole. But I genuinely love the "sissy" ship between Dani and Nicole, and in the same way Nicole was there for Dani, now Dani can be there for Nicole. Beautiful!

Notes:

  • Karla Mosley (Dani) showed up in her reactions to what happened two years ago, and I loved that the dialogue continues to stay pressed on the issue and that we're not glazing it over, either.
  • I love the warmth and fierceness Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) has been displaying as a mom where Martin is concerned; you can tell she is pulling some real strings.
  • MISS MARY MACK! YES! I LOVE REAL-WORLD REFERENCES!

I was disappointed that Ted didn't seem to react to Bill commenting on Kenny interacting with Tyrell and Samantha.   Those are your grandchildren, Ted!

I agree; I liked her on Guiding Light and wasn't a fan of Maya on The Bold and the Beautiful, but she's a star on Beyond the Gates. So glad she reconsidered turning the role down!

I loved Karla as Maya... but I just can't get behind her on BTG.. probably because she's better as support vs as a lead.
