Congratulations, Paul and Andrew!ย ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜˜

And just in time for Pride monthย ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

Even though I'm not sure why we can't at least get Andrew/Colton full time, especially after Paul and Andrew's conversation today at the beginning, I'm fine with them (and Will and Sonny) getting a happily ever after. It sucks, especially because they both fit so effortlessly into the canvas, but at least they'll be happy. And safe from Leo. I'm sure we'll be seeing them again though.

And we got confirmation that Paul's mother passed away.

As for the ceremony and the reception, it did feel a little rushed but overall, I did enjoy it, especially Paul's scenes with Marlena, and Andrew's scenes with Kayla. And their vows were beautiful. I loved seeing them so open about how much they've loved each other from the very beginning. And that Paul mentioned how it was John that motivated him to finally take the chance with Andrew. They both looked so handsome in their matching tuxesย ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜

And they looked hot in their first few scenes too. Btw, I see Colton's been working out a lotย ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‚

I enjoyed all the other interactions today as well, particularly Shane/Tate and Will/Belle/Carrie. I liked seeing Tate confide in his other grandfather about Sophia and the baby, and how Shane used his past with Eve to counsel Tate. And I'm glad that Will finally remembered his relationship with Paul, even though I wish his scenes had gone on a little longer.ย

Marlena being clued in about Johnny and EJ could be pretty interesting too. I really like the fact that so many characters are being weaved into this.ย

And I'm so happy that Colton got to have those father/son scenes with Charles Shaughnessy. And that Will and Paul got some closure at leastย ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ˜Š

And agreed, Brady. Paul is the coolest, and best of John's kidsย ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

What a beautiful episode.๐Ÿ˜ข๐Ÿ˜ช

All the men looked really good in their tuxes.

Andrew and Paul having their honeymoon before the wedding was hot! Paul and Andrew looked really good shirtless especially Paul and his tie. That was hot!

Loved the Tate and Shane chat. I forget they are grandson and grandfather.

Will looked adorable and loved his short chat with Paul and the hug. I noticed Andrew and Will chatting but we didn't get an actual scene.

Kayla chat with Andrew was beautiful too.โค

Did @carolineg write that part?๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Yes, the Carrie, Will, and Belle scenes were great too.

Ha!ย  I didn't have to.ย  It's a well-known Salem fact.ย  John's two other dopey kids accept Paul is cooler than them.ย  Even Marlena secretly agrees.๐Ÿ˜‚

I considered that, but she must have been recruited after the accident, because it is inferred that Shane's promise to help retrieve Katharina (who Cat thought had died in the accident) is the reason Cat joined the ISA.ย

Thus, the car accident must have been truly an accident.ย  But, Clyde and the ISA used the Greene's unawareness of Katharina's survival of the accident as leverage to get Cat on their side.ย ย

image.pngAmusingly, she's the daytime version of Chloe image.pngO'Brian from 24, except of course, in Salem even the data analysts look like supermodels.

Wow - in this pictureโ€™s slightly fuzzy post, she looks a lot like Kim Zimmer IMO.

I can't wait to get to that part of my viewing. :) I love Paul from his first appearance and happy to hear he will get a HEA.

I think we're conflating two different things.

You're recapping Andrew's on-screen reasoning for getting married.

I'm suggesting how the writers and producers might have planned to get the maximum amount of content given budget limits.ย  I assume it was probably cheaper to kill three birds with one stone.ย  That way they could film, (1) the funeral, (2), Andrew's wedding, and (3) fit in Cat's backstory, while only needing the actors to appear in a limited amount of scenes.ย  In other words, while it would be nice if we could bask in the glow of Paul and Andrew's love.ย  It would've cost more to have Shane and Andrew come back at a later date to fill in Cat's backstory.

My attempt at humor may not have landed.ย  But, I was commenting on the idea that Paul and Andrew got engaged before Sofia knew she was pregnant.ย  So, they've already waited awhile.ย  Thus, they didn't need to get married two days after one of the groom's father's funeral.ย  But, it was convenient given the real life status of the actors and their availability.ย ๐Ÿคญ

Furthermore, if we extrapolate from Cat being re-set as an ISA analyst (like Chloe from 24), it also provides a clever way for DAYS to tell espionage stories in the future.ย  Cat could be in contact with agents in the field like Andrew, and communicate their whereabouts and capers to viewers, without having to build shoddy sets and pretend it looks like a Parisian hotel suite.ย  I mean, the series 24 could've been made for $24 an episode if the whole story was told from Chloe's POV at CTU-Los Angeles.ย ๐Ÿฅธ

I was recapping Paul's reasons, not Andrew's; but I get what you're saying.

I honestly hadn't considered any of what you said, probably because I have no personal interest Cat/ISA, or the EJ/hospital-acquisition from Monday June 23.ย
And I have no interest in Belle babbling to Carrie about EJ, or Kayla having the book without knowing Stephanie is the author, which they included in today Tuesday June 24.ย
The Shane/Tate convo made sense, because Shane is in town, and the baby is due soon, so that was very timely.
But otherwiseย I was expecting it to be primarily a wedding episode.ย  The Marlena/Rachel convo was relevant, but did it have to be today?

Anyways, I think you're saying that the writers are working on ongoing storylines --ย  Titan/DiMera/hospital, "who shot EJ",ย  Belle/EJ, and Sophia's pregnancy.
. . . . (Edit to add here, and also Stephanie's book ).
And they are starting up something new for Cat.ย
I think you're saying that the writers decided to weave all of those ongoing and upcoming storylines into the episode-before-the-wedding and the wedding episode.

I read a similar theory somewhere online this morning, where someone thought that in the past two days, Shane was given only lines relevant to the ongoing storylines, and he wasn't given a full conversation with Andrew.ย  (At least not yet).ย  Carrie and Will didn't get to talk about their own lives because they're not on canvas.ย  At least Carrie showed photos of Noah to family a couple of weeks ago.ย  Carrie was thankfully there for Marlena and John! and thankfully at the wedding.ย  But Carrie's conversation with Belle was about Belle's love life -- because Belle's love life is a current storyline.

It just just doesn't feel "clever" to me for the writers to do things this way.ย  It feels to me more like plotpoints being arranged on on a diagram to fit things together, or like playing Tetris to see what they can squeeze in where.ย  It doesn't feel like what the characters in these situations would really talk about.

Regarding Shane, I understand budgeting and availability, but Cat's storyline didn't need to be now.ย  I think Cat is an unnecessary character.

Thanks, @janea4old. Totally fair that some of these plot threads aren't your favorites.ย  I think we're just coming at this from slightly different angles. I'm less interested in whether Cat deservesย a story and more intrigued by how the writers are recontextualizing her function. Resetting her as ISA analyst (specifically not a field agent) gives them license to connect her to long-term players and plot-heavy arcs, which opens narrative utility even if sheโ€™s not popular. It reminds me of how they once used characters like Billie.ย  Not always beloved, but flexible for cross-plot stitching.

I almost forgot that that was their first scene together. The way that it was written and acted, you would think Mary Beth and Colton had acted together for yearsย

So, why does Andrew have to live in DC, but people like Shane, John, Steve, etc. can live where they want when they are ISA operatives?

I'm going to say... tenure, (ya that's the ticket)โ€”once you've put in five years at ISA headquarters, you get your field officer wings and can live wherever you want (source: ISA Employee Handbook, 2025).

Cat is an ISA analyst, which has been a work-from-home gig since the pandemic. ๐Ÿฅธ๐Ÿ˜‰

Also, doesn't Paul coach a baseball team in DC?

Everyoneโ€™s busy counting whoโ€™s in what scene this month, but Iโ€™m over here wondering what it was like when Kim and Theresa were under the same roof. That mustโ€™ve been wild. Itโ€™s honestly a shame we never got to watch them together.

And finallyโ€”yes, I know they need a visual prop for One Stormy Night, the book thatโ€™s apparently making Kate and Kayla blush. But I keep getting distracted by the fact that everyone has a paper copy. Ritaโ€™s clearly been grinding. Stephanie and Alex are too young to own a printer. And Kayla owns an iPad. Just say itโ€™s a PDF on the cloud so I can stop fixating and pay attention to the real mystery: why areย Kayla and Steve getting turned on by their daughter's romantic fantasiesย ๐Ÿคฎ

Didn't Robert Scorpio have a secret room in the 1980s with all his WSB spy equipment?ย  I guess you could call that "work-from-home".

LOL this is all so silly.ย  To work from home as a spy, you'd have to have a "SCIF" that separates your computer and from the rest of the world, with all sorts of security measures, and a secure phone, (not a regular cellphone on which military battles should not be discussed)

Paul's job seems a lot more fluid and adaptable than Andrew's, but Shane did offer Paul a job at the ISA at the end of the day so it's fine.ย  But I thought the ISA was more covert so you should live regular lives not in DC to keep the cover going.

All the more reason why Colton can be full time. Andrew can set up an ISA office in Salemย ๐Ÿ˜‚
