The show lost me after episode 6, when I realized that MVJ promised CBS a black B&B.

The shooting at the wedding, the live streaming, the press conference with someone in their wedding dress. This was too much for me, way too soon.

The fact that everybody is super famous and mega rich, the weird thing with the character versus actor age...

However, everytime I watch some scenes, I see a rather good B&B, but this is not my cup of tea. I understand that no network would back a black RYAN'S HOPE, but the truth is that I expected something else.

I agree with this. I appreciate some of the callbacks to Santa Barbara and 90s GH, but what this show mostly feels like is B&B, and that isn't my cup of tea either. I wish the show was a little more real and original and would get away from the B&B tropes. Also I wish too it would have more economic diversity among the characters; everybody being rich is boring.

They had an opportunity to create the first new soap in 25 years. I thought they'd try to go for a general audience. Having some economic diversity would go to that. But it really is a niche show, very idiosyncratic.

I appreciate your honesty. I am up and down when it comes to this show. Right now... I'm in a down period... plenty of episodes behind what is currently airing and it's just...  hard to watch. Many reasons for it. I don't want to go into specifics. I can stomach some of cartoonish characters (we all know who they are) and dull dialogue (Brad Bell style of absurdity and repetitiveness), that's not my problem. My main issue is that the show is not consistent - they do great climaxes and then they kind of flatline every time. It's like they are just surviving on one great climax to another. What is between that... is bothering me.

Anyways... I'll probably just keep watching till I can't anymore. That may be 1 more month or... 10 years, who knows. I'm their biggest fan when it's good. I think they have great individual components... but they should connect them into consistency. The magic can't be there just couple of episodes a month. (all of this is my subjective opinion, and I have a lot to catch up on, I think great stuff may becoming!)

Carlton slanging that peen! If Nicole dont hop on that...

Speaking of which, its been a month. Ted is being too pathetic not fighting for her. He needs to be assuring and reaffirming his love for her. He needs to be asking her out on dates. Making excuses to see her at the house, like Bill be doing. Recruiting Andre or the grandkids to arrange "run ins" for them to reminisce and be together. He is being way too passive

So it seems like Nicole doesn't know Martin's secret? I can't remember if we already knew that, but it seems like only Anita/Vernon/Bill really know, right?

Derek is still so wooden. He isn't keeping pace with his costars on consistent improvement.

  • Eva, grab Katherine by the weave, and snatch it. And she did just that!
  • Oh look, it's Deadbeat and Bradley.... fo-fum!
  • Marcel has the hots for Dana? Is that how her evidence is going to go missing? I mean, I like the angle. I do.
  • Carlton, a.k.a., Nicole's future second husband! And he is spitting hard facts to Ted about Nicole and their broken marriage.
  • Ah, the age old dilemma: Eva found her new purpose outside of doing hair, and that was working with Nicole, and discovering that side of her desire of providing service to people. Oh, and we're circling back to Katherine leaving Ted's clinic. We love when we take a 180° turn back to things mentioned prior.
  • Derek cannot help but continue running to Naomi, can he?? Sir, if you're that insecure with your relationship, perhaps it's time to evalutae if it's even worth being in?
  • Mona is about to play Dana, isn't she? She's got to be sneaky sneaky, because Dana is a bit too aware of things right now.
  • It's refreshing to see Nicole say she cannot treat family members; more soap characters (not naming names) should adhere to that oath, because so many seem to forget about it..
  • Katherine, why would you sit in direct view of Dana? That's dumb as ever loving rocks. You should've sat at the bar behind her, with a view of Mona.
  • Listening to Deadbeat talk (wah-wah-wah) to Nicole about what's going on, and seeing Nicole's reaction, it makes me believe that Nicole is unaware of what Deadbeat's secret happens to be. Could this backfire on Anita and Vernon, and then Bill, too?

Notes:

  • Very happy to see the continued cycling of principal guests with Darryl W. Handy (Marcel) and Robert Christopher Riley (Carlton); it definitely gives me British soap opera to have storylines/characters ebb-and-flow in and out of cycles.
  • Michael Montgomery's role as continuity producer is working out exceptionally well alongside Susan Dansby as script editor, because the past few episodes have been very consistent, and even so in mentioning prior happenings.
  • It's lovely seeing Keith D. Robinson (Ted) in some colour that is not a neutral. Beyond refreshing, and he works so well with everyone he acts opposite of.
  • The continued use of back/forth with Ashley and Derek in scenes where we swap perspective, yet telling the same story, is effective and good use of script work.
  • As much as I (and others) praise Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana) for her acting abilities in the scenes we've had since May, today she shows she's able to handle those every day type of conversations scenes, and it's so nice to see. A well-rounded, versatile actor who knows their craft. Refreshing.

Yes thats not a new revelation. It first became obvious when he confided in her about wanting to be president and she had no reaction whereas his grandparents went into panic mode. When he dropped that, he told Nicole it was about wanting to be present for his family and kids but he told his grandparents the truth in that seeing his dad's secret com back years later, scared him that the same could happen to him

There are some things I see at times that makes me say "yep that's something she got from Brad Bell"

Martin is acting like he doesn't know what his nightmares stem from.  A while back, I thought he knew what his secret is.  I'm confused.

I hope we see less of that in the coming months. I only watch Bold to laugh at and ridicule the bad writing. I don't need a second show for that, LOL. 😂
