I get not wanting to lose a cushy soap gig, but no one should go into the acting profession expecting job security.  If you do, you're an idiot.

REALLY??

Yup, lol.

There's a lot I could say about Don Diamont, but I could never say he was a fool.

I think so! It's been a long time since I heard any of this but the vague recollection I have is that was why they constantly spotlit him in the mags. "We demand more of fan favorite Daniel McVicar!" I could be wrong.

You know, I always wondered about that.  It always mystified me how McVicar seemed to be so popular - at least, according to the soap mags - even though B&B was still looked upon as little more than Bill Bell's other show.

I mean outside of ruining a potential romance that would have kept him on in Traci...

...ruining the Juliet storyline because it made his character a flawed one...as if he wasn't already.

...ruining any time whoever was writing saw there was actually hate chemistry in the same vein as Drew/Nina under PM's GH with Victoria who is was the main female lead because Cane came across as a prick...which actually worked for him the same way it works for Cam Mathison's Drew on GH. All cuz he just want to phone in performances with a child bride.

Yeeeeah Lily is soooo better off and heading for a hotter man now that he isn't holding her down.

That's what did me in on him as a person and his character since hearing that made it hard for me to see his character without thinking that. And I tolerated and even liked at times Cane more than the majority of folk.

I think Jax could be useful on the canvas.   Someone, anyone needs to be a Lois love interest.  I can't imagine Goddard as Jax or paired with Carly though.  I feel like Laura Wright would eat DG alive lol.

Banner-flying antics:  Rabid fans of Y&R's Lily&Cane pairing (Christel Khalil and Daniel Goddard).  Those fans paid lots of money to have banners flown from airplanes over the studio, long story. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
Fans did what fans do, I get that -- this isn't about them. I can't critique fans of pairings for simply being fans.

The issue for me was that DG encouraged the banners and fan adulation. It's hard to describe accurately.   It wasn't what it said, but how he said it. He comes off as smarmy/unctuous -- what I mean is... seemingly outwardly oh so gracious and charming, but in a way that felt more egotistical underneath, almost creepy.  He wanted attention.

It's one thing to be politely grateful at unusual shows of fan attention.  It's a whole other thing to be intentionally stoking that attention.

And then when CK had moved on, the show wanted to pair DG with Beth Maitland, and he actively sabotaged that.

It's not hard for even the least talented of actors to eat Goddard alive.

Only thing Jax would be good for would be to give Carly one good roll in the sack, take Josslyn with him and leave.

I like Jax.  If you take Ingo out of the equation, I think there is a lot Jax can do still.  He's a much better Sonny rival than whatever villain of the year GH pulls out.  Carly, Lois, Nina are all potential love interests.   He can throw Joss into the ocean for all I care about her lol.   I still wish Brenda's son was Jax's because that would be so much better than Joss or random Balkan grandson.

It'd be another (hypothetical) Trevor St. John situation, with DG on the studio floor, lying in a pool of his own blood; and LW being dragged away by the LAPD, kicking and screaming, Norma Rae-style.

    • I found it to be a rather odd way to deal with a character departing for parts unknown.

Luckily, EJ and Johnny, and pretty much every other character saved today’s episode.  I didn’t expect Javi to be the one to save Sarah though, and I don’t mind it at all, because if it means that Javi is finally going to get his own identity/character, away from his douchy bf, I’m all for it. Javi’s scenes would’ve been a lot better had it not been for him. EJ and Johnny were the best part of today. Their conversation hit a lot of important beats and I’m so looking forward to seeing them play out. And now that EJ knows that Johnny is going to work for Xander, that opens up another dynamic to their storyline and to the Kiriakis family storylines as well. Tying them all together could be really good. There are so many story possibilities that can come out of this. And I thought Carson Boatman did a pretty good job again too.  I also liked that Johnny was there to comfort Chanel after everything that happened with Sarah. They’re so good together. But I do have mixed feelings about Chanel possibly forgiving Johnny so quickly. Hopefully, the question that she asked him at the end of today leads to more conflict for the two of them.  And yeah, still no changes in Alex’s character lol
    • Awesome, thanks so much for taking the time to grab this episode. I had a quick review of your rip because I was curious why it was 700MB and 30 minutes. The first 10 minutes of the episode is 3169 (opening credits at 5 minutes and again at 15 minutes). I thought we had the full HD version of ep.3170 on the YouTube channel, but it appears they added the wrong episode but labelled it 3170.
    • I guess, according to Mike Manning in the Michael Fairman chat, he was almost Derek

    • That's a name I haven't heard in a minute. Thanks!
    • Well, since I'm still up unexpected past my growing-into-it bedtime. lol.   I finally got to rewatch Monday's. I even rewatched Friday's to take it all in. Now that we got the reveal and hit the climax of the SilkPress Sheila storyline, now we get to watch the aftermath and/or turns that come with its climax. So far, so good. Friday left us with three cliffhangers. And what I found surprising was how I felt about them over a rewatch.    I know some of you all felt a way about the dialogue during Kat vs Eva. I remember liking it more the first time around and it was nice for them to have these scenes to establish more of a frenemy vibe for them going forward. That still held up. But I found myself agreeing with you all about that dialogue. lol. Still, it was nice to have both of their POVs.   Second up was Silk Press Sheila vs the Duprees. And I was happy to get a brief spat with Dani in there. But the rest standouts for me was Anita and Martin. Haters can hate and given the tail end of the episode, I will agree to a fault, but Brandon has impressed and he was on fire on Monday and had great subtle work on Friday. And that subtle work made it all the better. Like I believe I said when I was watching...BC has a much better grip on his character and seems to be realizing what his tics are so has started to be able to know when to turn it up and when to dial it down. And for the most part (emphasis on most), he got that. Meanwhile, TT was giving fierceness, and I was here for every minute of it. Her reading SilkPress. Her being quip about it. Her 'BE STILL.' Ooooo she had a chokehold on me as Anita gave what I was expecting her to SilkPress. WORTH THE WAIT. I also loved Vernon's CHOOSE SILENCE. I wonder though if SilkPress will figure out Martin's condition from her observing Anita and Vernon with him.   And speaking of worth it...Oooo YES Nicole vs Ted was worth totally worth it. Oooooo I knew DD would nail it, and it was all so well done. The fight between the part of Nicole who is a therapist vs Nicole as a woman who wants to express how she feels. And being so angry. And how there would be moments when it would shoot out of her. And how she would restrain herself. But how she felt she should not be restrain. Just the levels of processing and layers. And DD played it all so well. I do wish Maurice gave just a little bit more, but overall, I thought he did a good job even if it was just Ted coming across as a deadbeat and not at all redeemable. And Kat being there for her mother was so beautiful.   Minority, but I love the montage though yes, it did run a little long. Given how the Duprees like to bond (and also as I mentioned from my own very recent family experiences), it did not seem out of place to me.     That said...let's see how the aftermath worked in today's episode. Overall. Cuz RC can be hit or miss.
    • I wonder whose brilliant (

) idea it was to do an almost complete rip-off of the "who killed Tom King"-storyline. That's some quality style writing right there.....
