I find him beyond stiff, dry and cold in his reading. He's not connected with the scripts at all; someone did say it does appear as if he's reciting the script, verbatim, in his scenes and it's so cold and off-putting.

There is absolutely no one on this board who tells me how to think, lol. I was extremely skeptical when people told me ol' MART1N was starting to turn around. You can ask Darn how much I roasted him per day. I'm still not joining the Brandon Claybon Fan Newsletter but I do think he has considerably improved, so I am waiting to see more.

If you want to police opinions, go bother the guy spamming hate speech videos calling the showrunner an anti-Black bootlicker before it even began to air.

Correct. You haven't, and I appreciate that. But some others give that impression, but I digress.

I have not seen @Vanguardian53 videos, honestly, I see some truth in what he says. He might be the wrong messenger though.

I also wanted to add my praise for today's show. I love the literary references - I notice JDB does this a lot, it really helps to root the characters in the real world. He is a very culturally literate writer. I also loved the ATWT reference between Dana and Jan.

Vernon reciting part of his speech at the end, as we see a montage of the episode's characters, reminded me of Mary Alice's Desperate Housewives end-of-episode narrations in a good way.

Everyone keeps mentioning Keith acting abilities but that's not the major Issue with Ted. There was no reason to take it down this path and the writers gave themselves outs!

Right! He's a good looking man. But in my opinion doesn't carry the style and refinement that Ted was originally originated.

I thought that at first, but he has improved to me.

Then again, I might just be biased cause...... well...... 😉

Thank you! He started the show-off giving what he always gave. Glad it wasn't just me.

I've never seen ATWT, nor have I studied its history.   (I just don't have time/interest to take on another soap).  I'm curious what the reference was.

I want this show to work. I really do. The showrunners have to listen to their audience. Without us, they ultimately have nothing.

I found Brandon C stiff at first, as Martin, and felt that was a problem with the actor, and I think it really was.

But now I think things have shifted. What I'm seeing now is that he's intentionally putting the stiffness into the character as a character trait -- when the character is in an uncomfortable or triggered situation; but other times the character Martin acts more relaxed and natural.  That's the shift I'm feeling.  So now I finally want to watch him.

I once said he improved too. But I just think he does better in confrontational scenes.

When it's good it's good. And we all acknowledge that. That's why people should not hurry and say that the topic is overly negative... when it's not. I can't praise everything... Everyday. And excuse me... But I think this is a board for grown ups... If someone can't tolerate people's opinions... that's not my problem. Nobody is forcing you to read the board. Or partake in discussions. I've only seen one entity being comically negativistic, but that is not real critique... that's provocation. In my opinion.

So yeah... today I love it. But and if  something irks me in the future... I'll say it. I encourage people to be as honest and direct as possible. Fake positivity OMG! always! about everything! is also very... Obvious.

I am going to mangle the quote but when Jan was updating Dana on the latest gossip she said  something along the lines of "As the gated community turns."
