There are two words to rain on the parade of excitement about the new writers: KEN CORDAY. As long as the production team is answering to him there's really no hope for this sad show. This is the man who kept Carlivati for 7 years, who fired the best head writing duo they had after Jim Reilly's mess (Cwicky/Brash who were replaced by Higley, the McTavish of Days, who Ken hired not once not twice but three times) who got rid of EPs who made the show look great (Noel Maxam and Ed Scott) who keeps his friends on staff even when they are completely incompetent or aged out of their jobs (costume "designer" Richard Bloore, actor Josh Taylor for instance).  I'm sure Paula and Jean love the show and will have some glimmers of humanity and old school soap in their storytelling but the show lives on fumes for a budget and so many of the characters have been damaged by horrid stories (they're either back from the dead, actors playing a different part when they spent years playing another part, characters who break laws even when they're not the villain and get away with it (Hope killing Stefano for which Josh Griffith should have been banned from soaps on this one story alone). I could go on.  It truly doesn't matter who's head writing this show. If Paula and Jean show promise they will be fired (unless Ken truly retires like Bill Bell did) or the show will be cancelled.

I doubt that the show is in any immediate danger of being cancelled. However, Corday's reaction to Ari's lawsuit also makes me think we are stuck. Bill Bell only retired because of his health. If you read Ari's lawsuit all of it was shown to be true during the Alarr investigation. It would have been smart to settle.

Welcome to Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford!

While there are still a lot of miles to travel, I will say this: the dialogue (in script) felt a bit tighter, stronger and more concise with character-driven senses, especially with characters like Kristen (which seems to be merging into a character script rather than an actor script) and the veterans like Kayla and Maggie.

And if what we've been told is true, he is not involved in the day-to-day running of the soap. 🙄

I've always heard that too.  Ken still seems to make some unilateral, uneducated decisions with his show though.

On different note does anyone know why they recast Rachel?  The new little girl seems like the same age?  Lol.  I thought she was being aged up.

Maybe the other girl just didn't want to act anymore? Doesn't have to be that deep tbh.

Well, he cuts the paycheques. But I'm sure that's all he's doing while he's out golfing daily with the disgraced former co-EP.

I didn't think it was deep.  I was just curious if anyone knew why since they appear to be the same age.

Probably.  I don't think Ken actively tries to kill the show.  I just think he'd rather do pretty much anything else than run it and pretends to take control every 5 years or so.

I realized that the recast was not older so not being SORASED and was hoping a reason would become known. Still no info.

Yeah.  I guess I just assumed NuRachel would be older and become part of the teen scene even if she was a bit younger.  With the Tate/Sophia/Holly stuff I think a scheming Rachel could be interesting.  IIRC, little Rachel disliked Holly when EJ was married to Nicole.

He makes the statements when they have to be made (and yes, have to). He's there as a Corday for Corday Productions. He's there in name only.

Frankly I have no problem with that one. Stefano tortured Hope and people she loves for years, even decades. That she finally rid the world of that monster was fine by me. Whether Hope should have been to do it or if that honour should have gone to John, Marlena or anyone else of Stefano's victims is a minor quibble.

The "honor" of killing Stefano absolutely should have gone to John or Marlena.  I actually don't think that's a minor quibble.

John or Marlena should have been first in line, that's true. But I think Hope was a perfectly valid choice as well considering everything that Stefano did to her.

What I meant was that whoever got to perform the actual deed was a minor quibble compared to the major quibble whether it was right for someone to kill him in the first place.

I agree; Hope did not deserve the honour of killing off Stefano DiMera at all. She should've been left in the deep waters of the Cruise of Deception.
