This is indeed a surprise. I guess this means Abigail will stay dead. I wonder if Chad will leave with Annalyne McCord (sorry if that is misspelled), or if he will leave to go find Abigail on some tip, like when Josh Lewis left GL in 1990.

Billy was one of the best younger actors on DAYS. He's going to be a loss for them.

I doubt he will get anything of value at Y&R these days. I just hope he isn't as miscast and dead inside as the likes of Jason Thompson.

OR, third option, what if Hank Northrop is going to be Chad 3.0?

I'm just surprised that he's shot promotional images for the 60th Anniversary.  Which I assume indicates that he'll appear until next fall.

These big life choices just seem to pop up for soap actors, without much notice.

This is such a shame.  He's very talented and Chad has become such a staple on the show.  It's also very sad because it somewhat confirms that Abigail will stay dead (for now).  But he's obviously been wasted . . . I know he thought Marci Miller leaving would have Chad be less constrained by her scheduling, and I think he was made a lot of promises . . . but Chad has been pretty aimless since her travesty of a murder in 2022.  It's hard to not think it would've been better for them to ride off into the sunset, or even that they shouldn't have returned in late 2019 at all considering what came their way.

Wow this is a big shocker.

It took me a minute to get use to Billy as Chad as I adored the original. Casey Deidrick (who I recently read is in some legal hot water). Flynn and Mansi were absolutely the best back in the day (has it really been a decade?!!?) and the 2020-22 stuff between him & Miller was solid work as a tent pole couple.

I’m a bit surprised Flynn is coming to Y&R….new role? That could mean anything really with JG…Claire’s secret ex boyfriend? A past lover of either Audra or Sally? New Fen? Jack & Nikki’s lost son they thought died? Noah Newman 6.0?

I shouldn’t give him anymore ideas

Speaking of JG….gotta love this quote from the TV Insider:

Y&R’s executive producer/head writer Josh Griffith wrote for Flynn from 2015-16 at DAYS, so he’s very familiar with the actor’s skills. “On behalf of the entire company of The Young and the Restless, we look forward to welcoming Billy to the show,” Griffith tells TV Insider. “He will be a wonderful addition to Y&R’s stellar cast.”

Yes Josh, we all remember your disgusting offensive run on Days in 2015-16 that got you fired. And yes Josh, we already Flynn will get your current low energy boring  drama free writing on Y&R unless your having one of your mood swings….

Doubt it; per TV Insider announcing Hank Northrop's casting, he's due to debut by the end of 2025, and per the announcement by TV Insider, Billy Flynn is appearing as Chad through 2026.

❝ An actor with a very familiar last name to soap fans has been hired at Days of our Lives in a new role. Hank Northrop, son of the late Wayne Northrop, who played Roman Brady, and Lynn Herring, who plays General Hospital‘s Lucy Coe, will arrive in Salem later this year but has already started filming. ❞

❝ Because of DAYS’ unique shooting schedule, which tapes nine months ahead of when the shows airs, Flynn will remain on the soap well into 2026. ❞

He'd be a fantastic Noah Newman; he and Joshua Morrow would be excellent together. But I don't see a dedication to Noah, especially if Kyle is actively on the canvas.

    • Is there anything in print or fan lore or info about Don Stewart & temperament or behavior? Of course my brain could be playing tricks on me.
    • “On ERICA versus RACHEL, Erica was a very unique character. ... Rachel was a lower-class Erica, her mother was a cleaning woman, and her goals were not nearly stratospheric as Erica’s. Rachel just wanted to marry Russ or somebody with money. What Erica and Rachel have in common is they thought if they could get their dream, they’d be satisfied. But that dream has been very elusive.”– Agnes Nixon, Creator, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, ALL MY CHILDREN, and LOVING So my takeaway from this, plus knowing the characters, is that both Rachel & Erica schemed for acquisition. They wanted to acquire romance, husbands, prosperity, a kind of low-level fame or notoriety.  Am I correct in thinking that Carla schemed for safety, camouflage, to keep from getting caught & so for survival? Or did she also scheme for things similar to above?

    • Paula and Jeanne’s first time writing Alex and Stephanie. It didn’t seem like there were any changes in Alex at all lol but I can’t help  but think that that’s more on RSW than the writing. I didn’t see a big change with Stephanie either, but I did enjoy her scenes with Kayla, whose character has gotten so much stronger since last week. I hope we get to see a lot more of their relationship, and their relationship with Steve as well. As for Steve and Shawn stealing the drug to try to save Bo, idk. I don’t dislike it, but I just don’t know lol but I also think that it is time for Steve to pass the torch on to the next hero.  And finally, Javi showed some kind of spark! I was a little worried in his first scene today that he was going to continue to be so obsessed with Leo, but him demanding that Leo drop the investigation into Rafe and Gabi could actually be pretty interesting. I don’t think that would’ve happened under Ron. And if we’re forced to endure Javi/Leo, let them at least have some kind of actual conflict, instead of the forced, biased crap that we were subjected to. And speaking of Leo, one year ago today, he got Dimitri’s letter

Btw, why is Gabi so beholden to Javi? Cousin or not, if I was her, the minute he said to her, “If he goes, I go”, I would’ve been like  Also, are they going to go there with Philip and Gabi? I’d prefer that than Gabi getting involved with Alex.
    • She does look good in blue. I wish they'd do more with her hair, change it up the way JMW does now and then
