Webmaster Errol Posted Thursday at 09:12 PM Webmaster Share Posted Thursday at 09:12 PM After an extended absence, Soap Opera Network is happy to announce that we will once again be able to report the weekly performance of the daytime broadcast shows among Total Viewers and Households, along with the readily available Women 18-49 and Women 25-54 sales demographics, starting with Nielsen ratings data for the week of February 24-28, 2025. As reported earlier, CBS’ “Beyond the Gates” averaged 2.28 million viewers among Live+3, +78% over the year ago performance of “The Talk.” In fact, among Live+3 streaming, “Beyond the Gates” increased +7411% over the streaming only AMA performance of “The Talk.” Black viewers made up 55% of the new show’s audience, a hefty increase over the comparable performance of “The Bold and the Beautiful” (30%), “The Young and the Restless” (29%) and “General Hospital” (22%). Against its timeslot competition on ABC, the new soap was in a virtual tie with “General Hospital” among Total Viewers (vs. 2.02 million) when factoring in three days of delayed viewing (Live+3) and finished ahead of the long-running soap in the key Adults 25-54 demographic. The premiere episode of “Beyond the Gates” (February 24, 2025) averaged 3.0 million viewers, beating out the July 5, 1999 debut episode of NBC’s “Passions,” which averaged 2.96 million in an era of less viewing competition. With its 9 share among Households, “Beyond the Gates” also beat out the 7 share received by “Passions,” meaning a larger portion of people viewing television watched the premiere of”Beyond the Gates” than the premiere of “Passions.” In Live+Same Day, “General Hospital” topped “Beyond the Gates” among Total Viewers (1.852 million vs. 1.810 million) during the week of February 24-28, 2025, with the former down -196,000 viewers week-to-week and -150,000 viewers year-to-year. Meanwhile, “Beyond the Gates” was up +512,000 viewers over the year ago performance of “The Talk” among Total Viewers (1.810 million vs. 1.298 million), and up +0.4 among Households (1.2 rating vs. 0.8 rating). “Beyond the Gates” topped “General Hospital” among Women 18-49 (0.25 rating vs. 0.19 rating) and among Women 25-54 (0.39 rating vs. 0.28 rating), marking the first time a brand new daytime drama series beat out its soap opera competition in its debut week in over three decades in each of the key sales demographics used to sell ads for daytime television programming. Outside of “Beyond the Gates,” all other daytime broadcast shows saw significant drops among Total Viewers week-to-week, while “The Young and the Restless” (3.180 million) was up +95,000 viewers compared to its performance during the same week last year. Likewise, “The View” (2.515 million) was up +170,000 viewers from last year and “NBC News Daily” (1.187 million) was up +19,000 viewers over the year ago week. Among Households, “The Young and the Restless” was flat year-to-year (2.1 rating), while “The View” was up +0.1 (1.7 rating vs. 1.6 rating). “GMA3: What You Need to Know (1.318 million) was also flat year-to-year among Households (0.9 rating). Members te.
Hulu (and Peacock) has a rolling chart (ie tracks the last 24 hour period), so both General Hospital and Days of our Lives tend to show up between the places of 5-10 on Mondays through Fridays.
