Finally got around to my rewatch. And...yeeah, so not a cliffhanger. Though it did work as a a nice appetizer. Still...I was bummed.

THINGS I LIKED.

DANI. These writers. One thing that I've loved since the beginning has been how divisive she is. For the things, I like about her, there's always something I don't like about her. If anything, the writers be writing slanted to her. She can be so annoying half the episode, only to be sympathetic by the end of it, or vice versa. Right now, she's in her sympathetic moment, and Karla Mosley be selling it. But awwww at the hints that Dani is about to become an alcoholic.

DANI/ANDRE. I continue to love how Andre is there for her. And regardless of what Dani says, she clearly likes him. Whether it turns to love or just stay in this FWB bubble, they have been enjoyable. They definitely have chemistry. And not every FWB has to end in love or just friends. They will do like this...for now. But a growing connection is not a bad thing to have. I also really loved Andre gave a heads-up to Nicole.

NICOLE/TED/SILKPRESS SHEILA. Say it ain't so. Not cracks in the foundation that is SilkPress and Eva. That said...it is interesting that they both have a secret over the other one. And I'll just say what I said already...I do feel that Silk Press Sheila might be crazy, but she really is telling parts of the truth through all of the lying. I'm looking forward to the full reveal in terms of the timeline of the affair.

ASHLEY. Good to see she finally got scenes with her mama. And those were good scenes, too. It was nice to get some of her POV on Derek being stupid enough to run off and her feelings about the kiss. I'm not sure I'm down for a triangle with her, Derek, and Andre, but I'm curious to see where it goes.

THINGS I DID NOT LIKE.

GIRL, BYE. Now, Hayley, you did that to yourself at the country club. Dani...for once...did not do jack. I also wish that she would follow her gut. She's already seeing the Bill/Dani dynamic. She's already pointing it out too much. Those two like to get a rise out of each other. She's just there.

True. And his connection might be the thing that makes her go and get help. Or him giving Nicole the heads-up. But...time will tell.

Again, love the connection though I don't necessarily want it to be a love match.

Now I highly doubt that. I figure Dani is definitely one of their bright stars.

Now this is someone I recognize as our girl Dani.

Andre & Nicole seem a bit too clinical if you ask me. Nicole deserves to have time when she's not shrinking someone's head.

Yes, I absolutely loved her scenes with her mom.

I don't follow. How did Hayley self-sabotage? Although, no, I don't imagine Dani instructing all the servers to ignore one specific person & then bribing them all.

I don't think Hayley self-sabotaged, but it was stupid to go to the club by herself. Why not have a friend with her?

And look, someone clearly told the staff there to ignore her. Maybe it wasn't Dani, but someone got to the staff.

True, BUT a watchable trainwreck. I am still mentally hollering at her impromptu photoshoot in jail.

I agree. Issues and all, Dani is frustratingly relatable. And I like the layers she has. But that could be to the strength of how Karla Mosley plays her that I can want to shake her one moment and give her a hug the next.

Nah. I think that is just how Nicole comes across with people, but with the immediately family like Andre it was very maternal. At least to me. Though we don't know all of Andre's secrets yet so I can't help but wonder if it's intentional.

Same. It has been a light SilkPress/Eva week so I was glad to have a scene with them.

She literally said Dani did that when we the audience saw Dani was not even at the country club while it was going down. She's been told since Episode 1 (and several of us have mentioned the scene up to now including me) how the people of Fairmont would treat her once she married Bill. So she can't be shocked that the country club FOUNDED by the family Bill divorced himself from would be slighting her every chance they get. Or the people who work there who worship the Duprees.

Totally. True to form, while Dani embodies certain things we've seen in prior soaps, she is also quite an original in a way.  And, the mugshot photoshoot is one good example. Never saw anyone do that before. I don't see how we can get past the fact that she is so darn much fun.

So human, so flawed. Is her personality too big for an ordinary person's life? We know her daughter's think she is overbearing but I wonder if others see that side of her. She is the way she is about her girls because she cares so much about their success. If she cares that much for anyone else I suspect their names is Dupree.

I bet Nicole is maternal with her clients.

Big moment when Eva made the decision to turn Leslie in!!! Leslie to a degree has blinders on about Ted, so Eve does not have to worry about beging found out.

Dani could have bribed the waitstaff at any point ahead of time & it just being played out then.

Hayley even said herself that she knew it was going to take time but that she was patient. Then, oops, suddenly after the honeymoon-ette, no more patience, decidely IMpatient!

Just realizing how much Renee Lawless and Ana Navarro look alike.

This was when THAHN was good. This was an excellent scene.  It got utterly ridiculous later on, I stopped watching.

I have no problem with drunk Dani for now. It's good TV. We all know she'll turn it around eventually.

    • It has come up in this thread before that early on it was specified that Another World was set in Bay City, Michigan, but somewhere along the line the references shifted to Illinois-ish.    I have tried and failed to find any specific clear reference to Michigan, although there have been some circumstantial details that suggest Bay City is not in Illinois. i notice that the AW Bible begins by describing the location as simply "not far from Oakdale", but things do change (the bible calls Pat Cynthia) and we can't take that as pure canon.
    • At this point (and I've changed my tune several times), I'd fully rest the Cassadine family at this point.

    • The loooong pan around the room that ends in actual action with Maria and Edmund vs. just silently surveying the damage is very technically impressive. I don't think I've ever seen more than bits and pieces of this; my viewing was very spotty early on in '93/'94. I mostly remember the aftermath.
    • Disgusting how Gilly was written out. I'm glad I was not watching that travesty. Petronia Paley deserved better as well.   Interesting to me how so many viewers wanted Annie to succeed--the same way they were so invested in Marian/Brett.

Oh how I wish Angela Lansbury would have called out Les Moonves and put him on blast.
    • The first time I cried from a soap, Zane's death. I cried for 3 days.
    • Very happy to see GH hit #1 on Hulu! The show's been on fire and deserves the added eyeballs.
    • I really appreciated all the movement in today's episode.  It resonated with me that it felt like the sort of nervous energy that can surround a family after death. I want to point out the EJ scene.  I was riveted by his multi-layered performance. When he told Belle that he went to her because he loved her, and then saw that she was embarrassed by him, and rejected the part of her that was attracted to him.  It started to make even more sense why he would try to protect Johnny (who I still don't think shot him).  EJ feels like a pariah (although TBH, it wouldn't have hurt to bring Marlena some of that tea that everyone had been promising her all morning).  And he doesn't want to pass that along to his son by exposing him as the shooter.  It is interesting that we see none of those same concern between Kristen and lil'Rachel.
    • -- What a stupid party. Devon and Abby leave while Victor goes upstairs to the GCAC bar and talks with Kyle. Then we see Jack giving Nikki ANOTHER birthday toast as if the party has just begun. Huh??? -- This party perfectly encapsulates sweeps month for this show: lame, deadly, boring af. -- Once again, Cole gets really sick and no one insists on an ambulance or the ER. They really want him dead, don't they? Instead we hear multiple characters say "Gee, I hope Victoria doesn't catch it." Cole will be dead before Dumas. -- Kyle is really offering to make a contract with Victor so he can continue to see Claire? Jesus Wept. -- And then the shoe ends with Victor praising Nikki for softening his heart over the years -- after we've seen him treat Kyle, Michael, and Jack like sh_it for days.
