I know I am in the minority, but I like Ashely away from Derek.

I do too. Her other relationships on the show work for me. What makes it hard is when she goes back to Derek. I feel like if they wrote him off or recasted with a stronger actor it would give her more of a chance. I'd also like to see more of her friendship with Naomi.

I'm right there with you; Ben Gavin (Derek) is the weakest link in this cast, as well as Brandon Claybon (Martin).

I was wondering why Kat wasn't there either if it was such a big event.  If one of my parents was receiving a prestigous honor, I would postpone my trip out of town until afterwards in order to attend.  I wish they would have explained it that Kat had the flu or something as was sick in bed and then had her facetime her mom or dad at one point.  That would have been more believable.

Yeah I thought that was strange. But maybe the actress had the day off.

I dont think thats the reason bc this wasnt sudden. They've been mentioning that Kat would be out of town for a while.  I feel like there is a story reason that will factor in later

Kat and Chelsea are trying to start their purse empire. Kat told Chelsea in Wednesday's ep I believe that she was going to meet with some investors to hear their pitch.

I know that was the reason given but why did they write her out of town for that. i mean they could have had the business meeting in DC. The writers specifically wanted her out of town for a reason

Yeah I agree. some storyline reason must be coming for Kat to not be at her mom's event.

Could be wrong but I feel like Kat's absence will be used as a way for Eva to drive a wedge between Kat and her parents. "I was there for your mother's big night while you were somewhere else" is a sharp clapback for Eva should she need one against Kat's constant insults and suspicions.

Really? You think? Personally I do not think that would phase Kat!!

I think it might. Not because she cares anything about what Eva thinks, but because she might regret not being there and see it as having left a door open for Eva to working her way into Ted and Nicole's good graces. Nicole telling Eva to get a dress from Kat's closet is very much a small device to amp up the rivalry.

Ashley and Derek come on and I’m automatically tired and sleepy.

Ms. Tunie looks fabulous today.

So Anita and Vernon do have a staff at the house. A cook was mentioned, but we haven’t seen her yet.
